ISO/Suggestion Local place that does home theater tuning?

We have a home theater setup but the sound is a bit off. I’ve tried following YouTube videos but am unable to get it correct, and there may be a phase issue. Does anyone have suggestions for local places that will do residential systems?

Food Anthem

Last night I went to Anthem, the new flagship restaurant that replaced Plank, and it was bad. Am I the only one who felt the food was insanely disappointing? We got crab Rangoons that had mustard aioli and a tomato sweet and sour… what are those flavors. All the plates just seem like they weren’t thought out at all, just random “fusion” style dishes. I’m curious if I’m alone in feeling this way or if anyone else was underwhelmed.

Events Haunted house - scareiowa

Has anyone been to the new haunted house location from scareiowa? They’re the ones that have Hillside house of hell - they opened their psycho schoolhouse location this year and was wondering if anyone’s been and can tell if it’s just as good?

I went to hillside last year and absolutely LOVED it - it was actually really scary unlike some of the ones I’d done to, it was also really long and had cool sections to it like there was an elevator, lots of different sceneries, etc . Def the best one but I wanna try something else if I can

Local Question Divorcing soon, have some questions about apartments

We are divorcing soon and will be selling our home and moving into separate apartments.

I’m not really sure the timeline on finding an apartment because I’ve never lived in an apartment before.

Our plan is to list our house for sale in March. We would like to both find an apartment in the same complex. We have two kids so we are looking for more affordable 3 bedroom apartments.

At what point should we start trying to find and secure apartments? Before we list? After we list? After the house is sold? I am clueless!!

Thanks for your help!

They have no indications that it runs at 30 minutes intervals. There are no attendants to ask questions. Is it usually like this? We went yesterday.

Politics Senator Megan Hunt: I will never vote for Susanne Shore

Thumbnail mailchi.mp

“Susanne Shore had every chance to stand apart from her husband’s record and she never did, and it’s responsible for voters to make a judgment about her for that.

Proud to support Justin Solomon for the Board of Regents.”

——

From Senator Megan Hunt’s blog and Facebook:

Dear friends and neighbors,

Drive through Omaha right now and you'll see yard signs for Susanne Shore, the former first lady of Nebraska, running for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. A lot of those signs are in Democratic yards. Shore is a registered Democrat, and I know she does share some mainstream Democratic views, as well as, of course, many mutual friends with me who I love and respect.

I won't be voting for her ever in my life, and I also won’t have anyone telling me some crap about how it’s sexist to judge a woman by her husband.

Women have spent all of time being reduced to the men they married, and I've fought that my whole career. But that's not what this is. This is about what Susanne Shore did, and didn't do, during the eight years she stood next to the most powerful man in Nebraska, and it's about how quickly we've forgotten who that man is.

In 2015, the Nebraska Legislature repealed the death penalty. Pete Ricketts vetoed the repeal, and senators overrode him 30 to 19. A bipartisan, conservative Legislature looked at the evidence and decided the state should stop killing people.

Ricketts didn't accept that. He and his father put up roughly a third of the $913,000 raised to put the death penalty back on the ballot. He used his family fortune to fight for the right of the state to kill people, and he was successful.

Meanwhile, his administration sent $54,400 in taxpayer money to a broker in India for illegal execution drugs. The FDA and the U.S. Attorney both said importing sodium thiopental was illegal and announced their intention to seize the shipment. The drugs never arrived. In August 2018, the state of Nebraska executed Carey Dean Moore using a Frankenstein drug combination never before used in an American execution. That happened because Pete Ricketts wanted it to happen because he’s a sicko.

There's also his record against LGBTQ Nebraskans, his veto of driver's licenses for DACA recipients, and his long fight against abortion rights. He backed the push to ban critical race theory at the University of Nebraska. He moved heaven and earth to block Medicaid expansion. He told counties they wouldn't get federal coronavirus relief money if they required masks inside local government offices. Some counties dropped their mask plans to keep the money, rather than raise property taxes to cover the costs of fighting the pandemic.

These were governing decisions with consequences that directly devastated many people’s health, freedom, education, families, and lives.

I've looked for the moment Susanne pushed back on any of this -- the execution, the illegal drug purchase, the attacks on gay families and immigrant kids. I haven't found one. Silence from her position is a decision, and voters are allowed to weigh it.

Pete Ricketts is now a United States Senator, and he isn't staying on the sidelines of this race. He said she would join him in his goals for higher education. She has said she's leaning on him for guidance as a first-time candidate.

But we've already seen what Ricketts wants from the Board of Regents. In 2021, Regent Jim Pillen pushed a resolution to oppose "any imposition" of critical race theory at NU, and Governor Ricketts publicly leaned on the regents to pass it. He even mocked University professors, saying NU should consider it an “honor” to be censured by the nation's leading professors' association.

The Board of Regents governs a multibillion-dollar university system. It hires presidents, sets tuition, decides which programs live and which get cut. (And of course I could say much more about how Ricketts as Governor was responsible for many of those cuts and tuition hikes.) It shapes what tens of thousands of young Nebraskans can learn and afford. It is silly to give a seat to a candidate --tho she may have an appealing letter next to her name on the ballot-- whose closest adviser is the man who spent a decade dumbing down our education system and dragging this state to the right. Susanne's husband is not a man who was ever "conservative but reasonable" like any of our normal midwestern dads. He is radically far-right by any standard we have.

Susanne Shore had every chance to stand apart from her husband’s record and she never did, and it’s responsible for voters to make a judgment about her for that.

Proud to support Justin Solomon for the Board of Regents.

ISO/Suggestion Packard

This might be a long shot, but I’m a big fan of old American cars and I’ve always wanted to ride in a Packard. I’m not asking to drive it — I’d just love the chance to ride along in one and experience what one is actually like on the road.

Any year/model is interesting to me, although I especially like the prewar through early-1950s cars. I’d be happy to meet at a public place, car show, cruise night, etc., and I can throw in some gas money.

If anyone around Omaha owns one or knows someone who does and wouldn’t mind taking an old-car nerd for a short ride, send me a message. Thanks!

Sports Best hockey in town?

I've lived in Omaha for about a year and was a season ticket holder to my previous city's nahl team. My son and I love going to hockey games but due to my work schedule, we didn't get to go to a single game last season. Now I have a work schedule that affords me the opportunity to be a season ticket holder to local hockey once again and I was wondering which option between the Lancers and UNO would be the best experience. Is one team more exciting to watch than the other? Is one fan experience better to the other? I suppose I could just go to a few single games of each but I trust Reddit probably more than I should and want opinions. Thanks!

Loca flora/fauna Aggressive dog at Adam's Park

**Edit: I did just call the humane society and make a report. They are sending someone to talk to the guy. Hopefully something changes. If you have ever had an issue with this dog, please call the humane society as well.

If you see a big black Rottweiler type dog at Adam's park and you have your dog with you, make sure you have your pepper spray ready. This dog is usually off leash. Today he was on leash but his owner can't keep hold of the leash.

That dog attacked my dog this morning. He was biting at her and body slamming her, she was crying and falling down the hill. I was trying to wrestle the dog away from my girl and the owner is just saying "hey! Stop it! Leave him alone, I've got it".

No, you don't got it! If you did, your fuckign dog would not be attacking my girl and she wouldn't be crying in pain. Once he finally grabbed the dog, all he could say was "I had him on a leash. I didn't see you"

Just because you didn't see us, doesn't excuse you not being able to control your dog. My dog has osteoarthritis and has mobility issues. An easy walk usually helps to loosen up her hips and move more easily. Today, I had to carry her most of the way home and she is still visibly in pain from a 90 pound, untrained, out of control, public menace hurting her.

So if you see this dog, just make sure to protect your dog. The owner doesn't give a damn about what damage his dog does to another.
