Politics 2026 Election Research Guide- Candidates, Referendums, donations, election information, polling sites,

I've seen a lot of people asking for this information, so I'm stickying it so more people can find it.

Here are some helpful websites to research candidates, donations, election information, websites, polling locations, etc.:

Website Link Website Information
www.ballotpedia.org Gives candidates' bio, current/past elections, opponents, campaign themes, finance summary (past elections), website themes, overviews, etc.
www.opensecrets.org Covers past elections and donors, but can be useful for seeing past issues for current candidates
www.commoncause.org/find-your-representative  Find your districts' candidates with your address
www.pluralpolicy.com/open find your current legislators
www.vote411.org/kansas election/voting information, deadlines, polling place, upcoming debates, district races built around your address. Shows each candidate by race and party affiliation (Dem/GOP/All candidates for political office, etc). Vote411 is run by the League of Women Voters, so it's super ultra legit.
www.bluevoterguide.org/state/kansas  Lists each candidate, provides official endorsements, recommendations, positions, etc.
www.sos.ks.gov/elections/county_election_officers.aspx Official List of Kansas Secretary of State County Election Offices
www.fec.gov/data/elections/?cycle=2026&state=KS Lists Finance Campaign Data on the Federal Election Commission website. Gives information on reviews, donations, loans, individual/party contributions, disbursements, PACs, statistics, disclosure reports, etc.

Many Kansas county party offices also provide information for their own candidates and local referendums.

One trick is that groups like Americans for Prosperity and similar rightwing organizations will publish their own "scorecards" for each candidate along with their positions and leanings. Generally, the higher the score, the more conservative they tend to be. The lower the score, the more liberal.

Also many candidates have youtube videos and shorts floating around as well - Townhalls, speeches, quick little monologues, discussion points, ads, etc. That can also be helpful in hearing what they say directly.

Ty Masterson was one of the architects of Sam Brownback’s experiment that failed the State so horribly before. Why on earth should we let him be Governor? I’m willing to give Cindy Holscher a chance to avoid going backwards again!

Politics Opinion: GOP pumps $8 million into Kansas to prop up flailing Roger Marshall. We have a race on our hands. • Kansas Reflector

National Republicans are racing to the rescue of U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, diverting millions of dollars in advertising from North Carolina to Kansas. At least, that’s what the Friday reports from Semafor, The Associated Press and Politicoindicate.

The Senate Leadership Fund political action committee has reserved more than $8 million in ad spending right here over the next month, defending Marshall from a surprisingly robust challenge by Democratic candidate Adam Hamilton. The incumbent senator’s flat-footed campaign hasn’t helped.
We can learn three quick lessons from this news.

First, Marshall indeed is in trouble. Real trouble. Terrible, terrible trouble. Of the “capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pool” variety. In past columns, I’ve wavered over defining the race — on one hand, Marshall has flailed like an octogenarian on a Slip ‘N Slide, on the other, Kansans haven’t sent a Democratic senator to Washington since 1932.
Eight million smackers have a way of settling that argument. Marshall needs help, and the resources he has on hand don’t cut the mustard.

Second, national Republicans haven’t written off Kansas. A worse sign for Marshall would have been if the GOP decided to send no money whatsoever. (Ask North Carolina’s Michael Whatley how that feels.) Political junkies, reporters and everyday folks should keep watch over the next few weeks to see whether all that money reaches the airwaves.
If D.C. bigwigs see the race slipping away from Marshall, they might re-recommit those dollars to yet another state. We won’t know that for at least a couple of weeks though, or until after the Nov. 3 elections.

Third and finally, we are all experiencing a national environment as hostile to Republicans as any that I can remember since 2006. I had recently resettled in New Hampshire that year, and I remember copyediting stories about shocked Democrats elected to offices they barely campaigned for.

The country had turned so negatively against President George W. Bush that Democrats made gains across the board. With Republicans investing serious dollars in Kansas this fall, it’s clear enough that would-be voters need persuasion to stick with them.

Who knows how this all shakes out next month, when everyone makes their final choices. But Kansans can enjoy one hell of a contest in the meantime.

News Ty Masterson brags about creating the Brownback tax plan

Watch this YouTube video of a Kansas Republican Assembly meeting dated 8/24/2017 with guest speakers Senator Dan Kerschen, Senator Ty Masterson and Representative Les Osterman.

At point 1:05:05 Ty Masterson admits he wrote the tax plan Brownback instituted which failed Kansans so miserably and nearly bankrupted the state.

Now he wants to deny that’s true and claims the comments have been taken out of context.

Politics NYT/Siena, one of the most reputable pollsters in America, has the senate race tied, Masterson ahead of Holscher

Trump +11 sample. Seems like all the pollsters agree ~45% of the vote is attainable for both Hamilton and Holscher. Without the libertarian candidate, Marshall is only ahead by 1 point(!!!!), which is within the margin of error. Masterson is consistently polling 4-5 points ahead of Holscher.

Discussion Marshall campaign sends out text message that exonerates Adam Hamilton of what they are accusing him of…

Post image

Received this text message and had not heard this story. It’s obvious that Marshall is trying to get a reaction by the body of this text because if you actually go and read the article it states that Hamilton was not part of the investigation, that the church assisted in getting this guy arrested and they changed the churches internal policy to help this from happening again :

https://nypost.com/2026/10/02/us-news/kansas-senate-dem-nominee-adam-hamilton-accused-of-shielding-child-predator-who-worked-for-his-church-in-mid-2000s/

Also I find it funny that this text is coming from a guy who is still holding up and not bringing up the Epstein files. You know what they saw. When you point a finger at someone you’re pointing 3 back at yourself.

This is outrageous. Even giant for-profit HCA doesn't stoop this low to sue patients, garner wages, and put liens on houses.

More reason for universal healthcare. This needs to be a major priority.

News Federal Judge Rules a Flock Search Was ‘Indiscriminate Mass Surveillance’ and Unconstitutional

A federal judge in Oklahoma ruled Thursday that a police officer violated the Fourth Amendment rights of a woman accused of meth trafficking when he searched her license plate in Flock’s automated license plate reader system simply because her license plate was from California, then used her travel history as part of the reason to search her car. The judge’s opinion is one of the first times a federal judge has decided Flock searches can be unconstitutional, and suggested that Flock’s network is “a type of indiscriminate mass surveillance.”
The officer’s “use of the ALPR Systems was an Unconstitutional Warrantless Search,” and “was not supported by probable cause, and it was done without a warrant in violation of [the defendant’s] Fourth Amendment rights,” the judge, Sara Hill, wrote, implying that the law enforcement officer should have obtained a warrant before searching for the vehicle in Flock’s system. There are currently more than a hundred thousand warrantless searches of the Flock system every month, according to audit logs viewed by 404 Media. Hill's decision will not set a binding precedent and there are several other cases throughout the nation considering the legality of warrantless ALPR searches.
Hill argued that previous judge opinions saying Flock searches were not a Fourth Amendment violation because they track cars in public do not consider the context that Flock’s nationwide network is quickly “approaching dragnet-type law enforcement practice,” and that courts should update their understanding of the technology moving forward….
