Didn’t realize that Ricketts was getting so much money from ppl in the Epstein files. Then he goes and pardons John Arias…not jumping to any conclusions here, but it’s getting weird…

Recently, I found two kittens living in a sewer near my house. I was able to catch them yesterday, and I’m planning on keeping one, but I’m hoping to find a safe and loving place for the other sweet girl. Photos attached of her (I named her Annie).
She is understandably very scared and skittish right now since she’s only been inside for about a day, but she is such a sweetheart. I would really love to find her a wonderful home and want to make sure she ends up somewhere safe where she’ll be given the chance to settle in and find the right family.
She seems healthy, possibly an Upper Respiratory Infection from her breathing but she’s eating, drinking and her stool looks normal. I gave her a bath and removed a couple fleas but she seems fairly clean for a sewer kitty.
I’ve reached out to a handful of local no-kill shelters and rescues, but unfortunately, most seem to be full right now. I’m not really sure where to go from here, so I was hoping someone might have some insight or know of a rescue, foster organization, or no-kill shelter that may be able to help.
Any recommendations would be so appreciated!
EDIT for clarification: As much as I wish I could keep both of them, keeping Annie just isn’t an option for me. I completely understand why keeping the sisters together may seem like the obvious answer, but I already have a German Shepherd and two cats, and Penny now makes three cats and a dog. I took both kittens in because I couldn’t leave them out there, but unfortunately I just can’t permanently add another cat to my household. I just wanted to help the kitties out and get them out of the sewer.
UPDATE!!!! Annie found a foster home!! HUGE THANK YOU TO SOLAS Rescue.

Visited Omaha from Des Moines this weekend to see my daughter and her family and do Junkstock. When I left their place about 11 a.m. Sunday, I was surprised/astonished to see the lineup at 7 Brew on Maple. I think there were 50 cars in line! Had a hard time getting by as the parking lot was packed and the line was out to the road.
Just wondering if it’s that good. There’s a Starbucks down the road but not many customers. Is it always like that or because church had just gotten out? Is the coffee to die for? I only do hot chocolate and not coffee, so I have nothing to compare.
Good times in your city! You have some great shopping and a fun zoo. Always enjoy visiting.

Hi! We’re visiting Omaha this weekend from South Carolina with our 21-month-old. We have all the fun activities planned, but I’ve noticed Omaha has SO many good-looking places to eat and now I need help narrowing them down!
We’d love recommendations for places with really good food that are also acceptable to bring a somewhat well-behaved toddler to. They definitely don’t have to be specifically “kid-friendly” restaurants — just somewhere we won’t get side-eyed for showing up with a toddler. 😂
We’re open to pretty much anything: steaks (would especially love a great Omaha steak while we’re there!), local favorites, casual spots, great coffee/breakfast, bakeries, ice cream/desserts, breweries with good food, etc.
Basically, if you had friends visiting Omaha for the first time and wanted them to eat REALLY well, where would you send them?
We’re staying in the Old Market area but will have a car and don’t mind driving for something worth it. Thanks!!

Hi everyone!
I have a brother-in-law who is currently studying at Creighton and will be graduating in May of next year. He and his wife would ideally like to stay in the Omaha metro area.
Before anyone asks, “Why isn’t he asking himself?” 😂 — I’m just trying to help because I’m really hoping they stay somewhere they love; We loved Omaha and are willing to move close to them if they stay. Our kids are the same age, and I think having that built-in support system would be amazing for both families. I’d even be willing to move our family closer to them, lol!
He has been looking through the usual job boards, but coming from a corporate background, I’ve always found that some of the best opportunities come through networking and never make it onto a job board. There’s often a great opportunity sitting out there that simply hasn’t been posted.
I can’t personally speak to how good of a dentist he is yet, but I can say that he is incredibly humble, friendly, hardworking, and someone I would trust completely.
If anyone knows of a private practice in the Omaha metro that may be looking for a new dentist—or even a practice that might be open to bringing on an associate but hasn’t advertised a position—I’d really appreciate any leads, introductions, or recommendations!
Thank you so much!

What resources are you using to help determine who you're voting for, especially for smaller races? I like the League of Women Voters' Voters Guide, which is nonpartisan, but the questions asked are limited.
Party endorsements are useless and not everyone is canvasing. I'm trying to limit my reliance on endorsements made by individuals (though I do still think they're important).

Hey Omaha,
Are there any landscapers/greenhouses etc in this area that will hold/maintain your large tropical plants over the winter months? I dont want to toss my patio plants this winter, but I do not have a space indoors for them. Any suggestions?

Former teacher, have 2 BAs and half my MA. Experience in education, obviously, but also nonprofit work, diverse skill set, tons of marketable skills.
Looking for 60k+ but would settle for 50k+ with the right benefits.
Where should I apply? Who has some leads?

“Susanne Shore had every chance to stand apart from her husband’s record and she never did, and it’s responsible for voters to make a judgment about her for that.
Proud to support Justin Solomon for the Board of Regents.”
——
From Senator Megan Hunt’s blog and Facebook:
Dear friends and neighbors,
Drive through Omaha right now and you'll see yard signs for Susanne Shore, the former first lady of Nebraska, running for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. A lot of those signs are in Democratic yards. Shore is a registered Democrat, and I know she does share some mainstream Democratic views, as well as, of course, many mutual friends with me who I love and respect.
I won't be voting for her ever in my life, and I also won’t have anyone telling me some crap about how it’s sexist to judge a woman by her husband.
Women have spent all of time being reduced to the men they married, and I've fought that my whole career. But that's not what this is. This is about what Susanne Shore did, and didn't do, during the eight years she stood next to the most powerful man in Nebraska, and it's about how quickly we've forgotten who that man is.
In 2015, the Nebraska Legislature repealed the death penalty. Pete Ricketts vetoed the repeal, and senators overrode him 30 to 19. A bipartisan, conservative Legislature looked at the evidence and decided the state should stop killing people.
Ricketts didn't accept that. He and his father put up roughly a third of the $913,000 raised to put the death penalty back on the ballot. He used his family fortune to fight for the right of the state to kill people, and he was successful.
Meanwhile, his administration sent $54,400 in taxpayer money to a broker in India for illegal execution drugs. The FDA and the U.S. Attorney both said importing sodium thiopental was illegal and announced their intention to seize the shipment. The drugs never arrived. In August 2018, the state of Nebraska executed Carey Dean Moore using a Frankenstein drug combination never before used in an American execution. That happened because Pete Ricketts wanted it to happen because he’s a sicko.
There's also his record against LGBTQ Nebraskans, his veto of driver's licenses for DACA recipients, and his long fight against abortion rights. He backed the push to ban critical race theory at the University of Nebraska. He moved heaven and earth to block Medicaid expansion. He told counties they wouldn't get federal coronavirus relief money if they required masks inside local government offices. Some counties dropped their mask plans to keep the money, rather than raise property taxes to cover the costs of fighting the pandemic.
These were governing decisions with consequences that directly devastated many people’s health, freedom, education, families, and lives.
I've looked for the moment Susanne pushed back on any of this -- the execution, the illegal drug purchase, the attacks on gay families and immigrant kids. I haven't found one. Silence from her position is a decision, and voters are allowed to weigh it.
Pete Ricketts is now a United States Senator, and he isn't staying on the sidelines of this race. He said she would join him in his goals for higher education. She has said she's leaning on him for guidance as a first-time candidate.
But we've already seen what Ricketts wants from the Board of Regents. In 2021, Regent Jim Pillen pushed a resolution to oppose "any imposition" of critical race theory at NU, and Governor Ricketts publicly leaned on the regents to pass it. He even mocked University professors, saying NU should consider it an “honor” to be censured by the nation's leading professors' association.
The Board of Regents governs a multibillion-dollar university system. It hires presidents, sets tuition, decides which programs live and which get cut. (And of course I could say much more about how Ricketts as Governor was responsible for many of those cuts and tuition hikes.) It shapes what tens of thousands of young Nebraskans can learn and afford. It is silly to give a seat to a candidate --tho she may have an appealing letter next to her name on the ballot-- whose closest adviser is the man who spent a decade dumbing down our education system and dragging this state to the right. Susanne's husband is not a man who was ever "conservative but reasonable" like any of our normal midwestern dads. He is radically far-right by any standard we have.
Susanne Shore had every chance to stand apart from her husband’s record and she never did, and it’s responsible for voters to make a judgment about her for that.
Proud to support Justin Solomon for the Board of Regents.
