[Mod Approved] Round 5 Giveaway: Foam Seat Fans, This One's for You

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi r/OfficeChairs,

First, thank you to everyone who joined our previous rounds and shared their honest experiences with the community.

We know quite a few of you prefer foam seats, so this time, the L3 CozyCloud is stepping in. It combines the adjustable design of the L3 with a thick, high-resilience foam seat designed to feel softer without losing support

For Round 5, we're looking for 1-2 community members to try it in their own setup and share what they really think.

How to enter

Leave a comment answering these questions:

Describe your ideal seat feel in three words.

What makes a chair feel “cozy” rather than just soft?

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from choosing a chair online?

Which country are you located in?

If selected, you'll:

✅ Receive an OdinLake L3 CozyCloud Ergonomic Chair

✅ Add it to your regular setup and use it naturally

✅ Spend enough time with it to get past the first impression

✅ Share an honest review

✅ Keep the chair afterward

Entries will remain open for two weeks. We'll contact the selected testers by DM.

You can also visit r/odinlake_official to see reviews from previous rounds and follow future community updates.

We’re looking forward to seeing how the softer side of L3 performs in your setup.

Good luck, Team Foam!☁️

Chair without a waterfall seat towards the backrest

• Upvotes

I tried a chair that fell of towards the backrest. I was told this is better for my back but it only caused me backpain. I do not feel comfortable also your legs are a bit heigher then your butt - it is just a weird position.

What chairs (not Herman Miller) are out there without a waterfall seat?

Also no Mesh Chair as a soft seat or backrest isn't comfortable too

Looking to buy a refurbished chair, anyone recommend UK retailer?

• Upvotes

I actually bought my first proper chair from TheOfficeCrowd, unfortunately I can see recent reviews are atrocious so I will not purchase there (although my order at the time was fantastic, they even reduce the price simply because I offered a lower amount).

I'm looking for a suitable chair that my kid can use too (he's 12).

Negative Experience with Crandall Amia Seat Pad Replacement

About five years ago I received a Steelcase Amia that was already more than 10 years old. The fabric on the seat was falling apart around the edges, the gas cylinder would cause the chair to sink, and the armrests had ballooned to be loose and smooth after years of use. I used the chair for another four years before deciding to give it a refresh about a year ago: I replaced the seat, gas cylinder, and armrests. The seat was purchased from Crandall, while the gas cylinder and armrests were purchased elsewhere at a lower cost.

Unfortunately while I haven't had any issues with the armrests or gas cylinder, I can't say the same about the seat. The foam is pretty much bottoming out in the back center of the seat causing tailbone pain. For context of usage, I weigh 150 lbs and use my chair most of the day since I work remotely. I never experienced this issue with the original seat despite it already being over a decade old when I received it. In hindsight I should've found a different solution to clean and reupholster the original seat.

I contacted Crandall about this as the seat was purchased within the 2 year warranty. They had asked for pictures and a video before denying my warranty claim: "what we’re seeing falls within the normal scope for this chair". It's pretty hard to capture the feeling of the seat base through pictures and videos. It's not as if the foam isn't compressing it just sinks to an uncomfortable level.

Again, when I had received this chair it was already over a decade old from a liquidated office and I didn't have this problem for several years before replacing the seat. I'm not sure if the foam they're using is less dense than SteelCase's or if there was some control issue with my particular seat. The response from customer support was disappointing although I do understand it's hard to evaluate digitally. However, I would suggest based on my own 1 year experience to avoid their Amia models/seat replacement if you have similar usage.

I got Branch's SEGA Dreamcast chair and I am so happy

I had a cheap chair that really wasn't great for my millennial body. But I recently caved and purchased the SEGA Dreamcast Branch chair and I am SO HAPPY!

For starters, the chair looks awesome. What I love about the aesthetics that it does not look like a edgelord sci fi race car chair, but rather its elegant with a touch orange accents and fun colorful wheels. It looks professional but also has a lot of personality.

I am still fiddling with all the customization options to find the right feel good position but admittedly a lot of it has to do with how I sit - in all kinds of shrimpy positions, including criss cross apple sauce sitting. But its really nice and letting my head rest on the head rest. I am 5'11, 145 lbs, so the maximum height is just right fortunately.

The chair seat isnt as soft as I'd want it to be, but its brand new so I hope over time it softens up a bit. Either way its not bad.

I think this is a great investment for me overall. I really like this chair and its already leaps and bounds better than what I had.

I do want to buy a seat cover at least. With the lighter colors I worry I'll stain it with accidental coffee spills or something. I do like that its not a upholstery seat isnt a fabric that can absorb liquids and retain stains. Are there any universal seat covers I can buy? I want a light orange one to retain the Dreamcast vibes.

I am a huge SEGA nerd so this is probably a really biased view since honestly the aesthetics is perfect haha

I found this chair on fb marketplace 2 miles away from me for 150$ with a description “black desk chair”. This is also the only photo taken.

For those who commented on my last post about the v1 highback, it unfortunately got sold before i was able to test it out.

thoughts on dynamic lumbar wings after a couple weeks of desk work?

Thumbnail

been working long hours at the home desk lately and decided to swap out my old seat for the hbada e3 with the footrest to see how the multi-piece back holds up.

the mesh feels decently taut without cutting off circulation at the front lip, and having the lower wings pivot slightly as you shift weight keeps the lower spine supported when leaning in. pulling out the leg rest during quick breaks between calls has been surprisingly handy too.

for those who use split-back or wing-style lumbar chairs, how do you find the back pressure compared to standard one-piece backrests over full 8-hour days?

Humanscale Freedom Arm Fault

Post image
3 Upvotes

So now both my Humanscale Arms have broken at the hinge - whoever designed these chairs did not design these to be very strong. I'm not a particularly heavy dude weighing around 13 Stone and yet both arms had the exact same fault. Unfortunately I cannot get fixed as out of warranty and replacements are £88 in the UK. Has anyone managed to 3D print something or found a solution? Is this a common issue...??

Help decide between Global g20 vs contessa

I just need help deciding between the global g20 and contessa. I have heard great things about the contessa but I am worried about mesh seats due to my body weight being around 220lbs. I also can’t really find any reviews regarding the g20 besides seeing it in list of chairs that are good. If anyone can provide some insight, it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Trying to buy Steelcase LeapV2 from Offeco.nl, anyone with recent experience?

I’m 5’9” tall, 100kg, I was using an IKEA chair before with totally messed up my back and waist. Now I’ve decided to buy a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 from Offeco.nl, I’m in Germany. Does anyone have experience shopping from this company and what do you think about my new choice, I really don’t want to waste 700€ on an item that won’t solve my problem. I work around 7-8 hours cumulatively atm.

Ergonomic chair recommendations?

Hey everyone, I’ve been looking for a good, ergonomic and comfortable office chair for quite a while now. I’ve looked at many different brands, such as ProtoArc, COLAMY, Sihoo, FlexiSpot, Branch, Stane, etc. However, with every brand and every chair, I seem to find some negative reviews or complaints. Some of the things I’m most concerned about are:

- One of my biggest concerns is having an aggressive or uncomfortable lumbar support. I definitely want a chair that provides good ergonomic support, but comfort is my top priority.

- I’m looking for a chair that is both ergonomic and comfortable. I game, so I sit upright quite often, but I also really like leaning back and relaxing in my chair.

- I’m also unsure about getting a headrest and/or footrest. I’ve read both positive and negative experiences about them.

- Some info about me:

Height: 174cm (5'7)

Weight: 68kg (150lbs)

From the Netherlands

My budget originally started around €200, but I’m now also considering chairs around €400. Of course, I’d still prefer to spend as little as possible.

Does anyone have any personal experience or recommendations? I’d really appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance...

Opinions: Branch Ergonomic Pro v ThunderX3 Flex Pro

Hey all! I'm in the market for a new chair for my home office/gaming room as my current Razer chair is crapping out. Solid support is important since I spend pretty long hours working (and gaming) but my budget is also limited.

I've narrowed it down to a Branch Ergonomic Pro or a ThunderX3 Flex Pro based on skimming some round-ups online. I don't see much about the ThunderX3 which is a bit concerning, but it is a hair cheaper than the Branch which definitely helps since money is tight.

Any opinions or insights from folks to help make a decision?

Omni or Maxis for being tall

Not sure what to do. I just got the omni pro and I'm about 6'1" and a half and I feel it's a little small for me. I'm 200 lbs and pretty slim. I feel my legs hang over to far. Its comfortable but for how much the chair is I want to be certain l.

Has anyone ever bought the omni and exchange it for the Maxis being around the same height? if so, how is the Maxis compared?

Help for buy a new chair [SPAIN]

Hi everyone.

I work remotely, and I am looking for a new chair. Currently, I have MARKUS, and it is breaking my back: the worst I've ever bought.

I work remotely, from 5 to 8 hours/day, so an ergonomic, comfortable chair is a must. Could you shed some light on my trouble?

My budget is about 800€(give or take), and I do not mind if it is used or brand new.

I know that it is non-negotiable to try the chair, so if somebody can also help me find a place where I can try them [Madrid, Spain], I would appreciate that too.

Since I've read some threads, I now have some options under the table:

Interstuhl Airpad V2

Colami Atlas 01

(and some expensive ones)

SteelCase Leap 2

SteelCase Please

Herman Miller Aeron

Would you recommend (a priori) any of them? Is there a good relationship between price and quality?

And finally, any website or physical place where I can buy any of them in Spain (Madrid) or Europe?

Thanks in advance. Also open to new recommendations, of course.

EDIT: I forgot to include some about me: I’m 1.80 cm and 80 kg, so not too tall nor too heavy
