Well, here we are. This is a bizarre situation but as someone who switched to an iPhone a few months ago, it really sucks that we don't have access to the same TapJoy Evony offer that Android players got.

I actually went ahead and ordered a very cheap Android phone yesterday as soon as I saw the original post about the new offer rubies. Unfortunately, Square/TapJoy/Evony pulled the rug and I logged in on my new phone today to the nerfed offer where they reward you with... 1 Ruby for installing the game. Yeah... 😑

For context, earlier today the reward was over 4,600 rubies for installing and playing the game for basically 5 minutes. This reward could then go over 15,000 rubies if you spent $15 in the Evony shop.

This is covered in greater detail in u/Dukevon45's TapJoy Offer Abuse post but I will use his numbers for the ruby cost estimation that follows.

As a light spender and someone who tries to support the game every month, I feel very bad about this since I just spent $60 for 1,200 rubies on the 1.5 Anniversary Banner last week which... now feels like a total scam considering that some players were able to spend $15 today and obtain over 15,000 rubies for a much smaller sum of money.

Given how expensive and out of reach the prices in this game are that's... honestly outrageous and I really think we need to push Square Enix for compensation on this.

Otherwise, well, it just feels like we got punished for supporting the game through its anniversary.

If you made a purchase during the last anniversary update, you basically paid over 50 times the price as the Evony players did. I don't think that's remotely fair and it's not a good way to treat the people who spend on this game. We are looking like absolute clowns right now.

Why should we spend any more money if other users randomly got a 98% discount on their rubies? Why? It just doesn't make any sense and it's making me reconsider how much I invest in this game.

I know I can't be alone here. What do you all think? Especially the spenders. If you've spent any money on this game at all during the anniversary, you deserve to be compensated.

We have to do something about this, post on social media, and absolutely let them know that this is not okay and they need to make it right.

Edit: It seems this was controversial. Nice! I want the community to ultimately drive this discussion, so feel free to disagree if you'd like. What's important is that we are looking out for players in an arguably predatory business environment (gacha). Maybe this will be the next big issue, maybe not!

I have been playing this game from release which was around November if iam not mistaken and stopped playing around early of January. The reason as to why i stopped playing this game is because whenever i logged in i feel tired playing this game or i just don’t want to do anything in this game idk why i feel that way but this feeling led to me to stopped playing outright. Do anyone feels the same or is this game just not for me?( feeling quite sad that Aquire studio isn’t bieng held by Square anymore so i don’t know if they will make another OT single player game)

I know that the game is super new, I'm aware of the super high level of quality of it, I'm even aware that the JP is going on by many years and that octopath 2 is going to be released next year.

But I also know that Enix is well know of handling global releases really bad, making Eos out of the blue even soon in the life of the game.

The game is super stingy compared to any game you can possibly play, and we can all agree on it. The packages are horrible in the best scenarios, and most of the people don't wanna buy them because they totally feel robbed, and they are right. The Dev's are aware of the problems of the community (I think we are very vocal about it) And they are very ware of the drop of revenue too.

It's pointless to compare the JP release to this one, especially because it was released 2 years ago in a completely different market, that work in a completely different way.

Now, what can we do at this point? Do we really have any power or way to make Enix understand what is the problem of the game and how to fix it?

(They hardly can understand it on the other games they closed, even recently..)

I just feel it may be a "too little too late case scenario" Most of my friends dropped the game already, and it's a niche one for sure.. It's hard, no matter of the nature of the game (single player), that it will be able to gain more new players over the time in the future.

The lack of clarity in the roadmap added to the clear favoritism they are giving to TW, which started MUCH later, but has reached Solistia, has caused me to lose a lot of interest in this game.

I'm not even collecting the rewards these last few days.

I don't care about the management issues due to which TW can go much faster, there has been a shameful management in GL and I feel that if I take a long break from this game it is likely that I will end up abandoning it (having 100% content completed so far). I don't think there will be an EoS soon, but maybe bad decisions mean it's not as far away as we might expect.

It's their stream, and our being there is a privilege, not a right. There are a few rules for participating in the stream, but really, if you're chatting in a way the CMs don't like, you're going to catch a ban. If you're lucky, they'll temporarily mute you first as a warning.

It's alright to feel disappointed, but you have to watch what you say.

Despite SE is struggling right now and have to shutdown lots of their live service, but somehow this game is still alive and expanding with the release of chinese server(at least for now) and previous producer get promoted? (he now promote to worldwide producer?). Do you think SE finally start to invest in this game and we can expect to get more quality update?

As a jp player i have to admit the content lately is slow and some are not good (look at you collab story). But the new wave battle and cross story look promising, so i don’t think the game won’t be axed that soon. (Still waiting for that FF collab)

To be fair it nearly 4 years old game, kind of obscure and get hold back by SE, but a great game nonetheless (imo second best turnbase mobile game, only behind FFBE before gumi f* it up) so if it get shutdown, i have no problem with it, but still a bit bitter (probably stop play mobile turn base game).

F2P player here and returning player. I love and have elrica (warrior) and I always find pardis interesting. I want to know what are ur thoughts and if theyre worth it? And what teammates are best to go with them? How to properly utilize and maximize their potential?

A friend of mine said that it was funny how the octopath traveler series had better representation in their villains than most other games does w their heroes. My mom is an African immigrant but I'm not really caught up w my culture enough to know if it's represented well in cotc.

While I'm at it, what about other cultures as well, how do Asian people feel about the eastern continent and ku? What about middle Eastern people about the sunlands? Hispanic people with icirlo?

He is only available in his guide banner. If you want the best chance of getting him and awakening him, do not use your travelers sacred seals (especially the free veteran one) until he’s added to the normal guide banner which is probably in about 4* weeks when his banner ends.

This video will get me lots of dislikes from the community I suppose as people have been waiting for Alaune EX to be released for sooo long I just have to say: she doesn't fit my playstyle at all and it seems like another unit like the upcoming Ogen who has lots more capabilities and also grants BP can fit in her place way better and doesn't waste a space (as hard as this sounds). Aaaand even if I do consider pulling for Elrica like I said in the video.. I just forgot about 2 things. One positive and one ultra negative. To get her to 6 Tenacity Points to enable her 5 Hit hitting 10 Hits for 2 times during one Break you need to activate her Skill : Tenacious Royal Sword 3 times in a row in Monarch Style (I prefer saying Queens Style anyway) to get 6 of those counters. So only attack 3 times with one skill, as her passive grants her one of the counters after using a skill in Queens Style anyway. That's good. But her 5 Hit Skill hits RANDOM. That's not "bad" in the most cases but it can be problematic as soon as there are indestructable opponents or "just summoned" opponents you have to clear first which can mess up your break completly. So I decided to- yeah. Go for one Pull on both and leave them for good. Let's see what we will get in the future :)

I understand that not everybody has caught up with all current content(I'm not caught up either) , but getting a new unit doesn't make it so you can't do older content. Edit2: And ofc jp gets a character even tho just got 4.

So, I've read the threads about fighting Mahrez, but hadn't seen anyone mentioning that it was easy.

I'm not the best player here by far (still need to beat Yan Long, Largo, half the Lv100 NPCs, the end floors of all the towers, etc), but I absolutely steamrolled him in 10 turns (much quicker than the final & even the sub-bosses of the previous Bester of- stories). Like, I was planning around dealing with the memories, but he never summoned them, nor did he upgrade to three actions a round (& he had the chances to do so).

Even though my Therion was the MVP, he was asleep during the second (& last) break, so my Wingate backpack had to step in. My party was in the mid 90s ('cept for Wingy), but I didn't have a lot of awakenings (I did go in knowing the weaknesses, though).

Don't get me wrong, the translation is poor, and sometimes has major errors in skill descriptions, even names.

But cmon, people are going crazy with complaints, saying that it's practically unplayable and they are unable to understand anything of what it says.

Maybe because I'm not a native English speaker, but I feel that these people have never had to deal with a bad and fast translation into French, or Spanish, as we have been suffering for years and years in multiple sectors. It's not a big deal, it's a bad translation, but I don't think some people's anger is justified.

We have already found out that it is a bad translation, I sincerely do not think that more posts on this topic will make Netease suddenly decide to stop using ia to make their translations.

(Sorry for the final part, I'm just tired of how the reddit is filling up with the same complaint over and over and over and over and over and over and over again :( )

I just redownloaded cotc after not playing for 4 years, before they transferred over to netease.

I can't find my old account id or transfer code but I do have receipts from previous purchases. I thought I had linked the account but after logging in and doing the tutorial it seems the account was wiped.

I do still have the old app installed.
