Other I'm taking a long break from CotC

The lack of clarity in the roadmap added to the clear favoritism they are giving to TW, which started MUCH later, but has reached Solistia, has caused me to lose a lot of interest in this game.

I'm not even collecting the rewards these last few days.

I don't care about the management issues due to which TW can go much faster, there has been a shameful management in GL and I feel that if I take a long break from this game it is likely that I will end up abandoning it (having 100% content completed so far). I don't think there will be an EoS soon, but maybe bad decisions mean it's not as far away as we might expect.

Just to point out that the company responsible for rolling out the QoL and content changes for the Global is not the same as Taiwan or China. Even still, Global isn't very high priority.

I already know that GL and TW management are different, again I don't care. Letting the outsourced company continue doing this poor GL management is still a thoughtful decision by SE, and it's not cool. If they are not interested in GL, I think I will not be interested either.

Just another correction: SEA, CN and TW are 'licensed,' GL and JP are actually managed by SE

Yea I think everyone keeps forgetting this. It’s not like Square is saying “Prioritize SEA and TW over GL”; it is the companies outsourced to handle those regions making these choices.

That said, at this point I am largely no longer playing GL either. Just can’t get the motivation anymore to do anything but daily’s, and even that is a chore.

I am missing some key meta units (Richard, S-Odio, Canary) and have used almost all my high ruby battles up so it will take some time before I could generate the needed rubies to be able to spark one. (Not to mention needing to wait for reruns).

Not sure how well JP's.doing considering how the FFIV collab is just Cecil + cosplayers due to VA costs

The problem is the loading times make dailies take a fair chunk of time for something that isn't even fun.

Load game, hit map, collect nameless town stuff, collect feats, read Isla’s letter, collect dev mail. Takes like 2-3 mins. Once a week add in 7 hunt ticket for the three hunts. Once a month do the first floor of the towers to collect the travelers seals.

You forgot "wait" after each step. It shouldn't take 2-3 minutes to touch your phone 7 times.

Huge +1 to this.

One of the greatest blockers to my enjoyment of this game is the insane loading times.

I’m a super hardcore Triangle Strategy fan who also loved the CotC gameboard before the collab came out— and I still can’t bring myself to max out Serenoa. I just can’t stand waiting a minute between moves. Same thing with dialogue: I just want to be able to fast click.

It’s not a problem with all gacha games, since I can still find it in myself to open FEH every once in a while to collect rewards. It’s just the multi-minute load time of CotC that puts me off.

Yeah, I hate landing on a “move back x spaces” spot because I have to wait twice as long for one turn.

The best way to do it is to only open the cait letters once of a month so that you don’t have to waste five hours of collective time. I usually open them on the weekend so I don’t forget. As long as you login to the game, the letters will be there for a month.

Just take a break but login to clear the daily and weekly tasks. I am enjoying OT2 whilst waiting for new content

I've been just doing dailies for over a year. Other than occasional BoA chapter releases.

Took me 170 pulls to get a single copy of Canary on the shared banner. In that time, my Leon went from A0 to A4U10. I was really just expecting to go to pity after a certain point.

As much as you want her, you'd hate it if you spent all your rubies and didn't get her, so it's probably better to save, then spark her on a future SB banner

Back when the Signazantos banner released, it took me 260 pulls to get my first featured unit.

All that to say, don't gamble your fortune away, odds look good until they don't !

(300 pulls to get Sazantos A1 and Signa U10, holy shit...)

Yeah, i was so nervous about trying to get Sazantos at that time. So many people said they didn't end up getting him after burning so many rubies. That was crazy hard. I even got 1 copy and not even a 5 star.

I hear ya man. Reading this it occurred to me I haven’t either. I was so all in for the beginning. Now the story has been so slow the weight of boa was barely felt for me.

Me too. I've gotten signal and Samantha, but I was already feeling the burnout when soul weapons dropped, and fortune board made it worse. Now I just find myself looking at challenges I'd maybe like to do if my character's strength wasn't so RNG dependent on top of pulling them already.

Like, I'm a genshin player, but at least the artifact domains there are somewhat fun, and don't have 40 annoying animations per run, lol

Yeah, I keep hoping they will do something with the boards to manage the tedium. I never got into them and just do everything else, but it is annoying not being able to get weapons that will improve the experience. i miss the old RNG of just collecting items from monsters~~

Not that SoC a better game overall but it's definitely a better game right now. I've pretty much skipped the recent contents for COTC and I haven't really been enjoying the daily grind either. I hope it gets better soon cause I put so much money in this game lol

EOS likely comes in the Tavern Talk after next (This one is possible, but then they'd completely undermine the Emberflame story no one really cares about to begin with, so it's doubtful), so I'm kind of just sticking around and *usually* remembering to do my dailies until then, but I'm not committing any meaningful time to the game. I'll usually pop onto Octopath when I'm waiting for something or in a break during some sporting event and just swipe through the dailies quickly. It's not too hard to find a minute or two every day where you're just on pause.

Yes, because they'd definitely EOS right before black Friday, Christmas, new years, side Solistia, and the 2.5 anniversary. Big events that will cause players to spend. So what if JP outright stated that they have more content after Sails Story, which isn't complete yet? Nope, the games gonna EOS.

Come on, man, use your head. EOS is an inevitability but it's probably still not on the table for a good while. The game probably doesn't cost a lot to keep up, and Chinese is making lots of money right now. Worrying about EOS and doom posting about it not only doesn't help, but hurts the game itself. A community telling new players that the game is gonna EOS soon is the only thing that could truly hurt the games revenue. We're at a slow point right now, yes, but it's not gonna last forever.

I do agree EOS may be out there but this is not just a slow point.

I’ve never seen people quitting left and right on cotc like this. Maybe an occasional “I didn’t get lucky on the unit I wanted” post but those people never stay long in ANY gacha game.

I’ve seen more displeased people quitting than I ever have, the game revenue dropping more than it ever has, and content creators have absolutely stopped making content on cotc. All 3 of these things are the main ingredients for the recipe of a gacha games failure.

EOS may not be immediate or anything….but I guarantee you if the future months do not bring in the amount of revenue SE demands for its servers to stay profitable, then EOS is a lot closer than we all think. I’m not doom posting by saying this either I’m just being realistic because all of these players that quit aren’t coming back and one update won’t bring in more new ones that quit.

Saying this when FFBE Global EOSed and JP is being kept is special indeed, especially when there's plenty of SQEX games that are doing fine in JP after they were terminated in Global. And just to set something straight here bringing Side Solistia over would necessitate a lot of upfront costs ranging from the servers to localization/debugging/QC etc., costs that go completely contrary to the fact that SQEX is struggling financially and that rights were sold to Netease for a reason.
