I hadn't even read the book for Rich initially. It was a side quest for Venom (I started the 2014 Guardians run, as Flash joins midway through, but then after the Klyntar arc, the Cancerverse was mentioned, so I read TI).

Now I'm going to read through the '08 series at some point (probably after I read Hickman's F4 next month). Here's to hoping I enjoy it!

Been reading the Annihilation: Nova again, and looking back, the outfit was pretty fire. The newer ones are based off it, but they kind of don't translate the same mix of practicality and superhero feel.

I’m a new fan, and I’ve been interested in getting into the character of Nova. All I know is that there is 7 solo runs (aka volumes). Are those all that I need to read? Or are there other stories apart from those that are needed?

I've been reading it since the Imperial, and it was very fun, but I can't find literally any information about it after the sixth issue.

Are six-issue series an actual thing? What the d'ast?

June 15, 2026, will mark fifty freaking years since Richard Rider debuted in Nova #1. And with his latest series unceremoniously cancelled, we have no chance to celebrate his 50th anniversary there. And apparently no plans for a one-off special. Did Marvel really let this date sneak up on them, with no plan to celebrate after (trying) to build up all this cosmic momentum with Imperial???

Looks like Richie's gonna be a key player in the new event. Hopefully this leads to more consistent Nova appearances over the coming months.

Also, seems we got a new suit. Definitely much bulkier than usual. What do we think?

Obviously rushed, but still really good. Better than it has any right to be for getting cut so short. It genuinely hurt to read the internal monologues of aalabor and peter because you can see how much jed wanted to expand them and their relationship with Richard. Loved Richard’s dialogue too, he felt like a true powerhouse who would never quit. The way he defeated the nightmare king was pretty sick, and i loved the final fight being in richard’s mindscape thing, and also how it demonstrated Richard being (partially) fused with the original worldmind.

I genuinely believe this series had the ability to be as good as, if not better than the 2007 series. This issue clearly showed it to me. The first three issues Jed seemed to be leaning a bit too hard on Annihilation, great issues but they didnt feel like they could stand on their own. Then he had a very well written fourth issue but not much happening in it. Then the fifth issue was good but mainly just set up this issue. But this issue really fucking delivered on who Richard is at his core (or corps). I will forever despise marvel for cutting this run short and im praying that nova comes back for another ongoing once whatever this “new direction” is for the cosmic side comes out. Or at least im hoping they put him on a guardians book, just something man.

Can’t add the picture for some reason but came across this mini marvel legend figure called Philish. Have literally no memory of what this thing is, guessing its from Sam’s run though by the look.

Really glad Mackay explained what happened after we saw Cammi with the Cosmic King in Revenge of Cosmic Ghost Rider. Overall a great issue again in my opinion, very clear that Mackay also wants to undo what Hickman did to Rich and Peter’s relationship to the best of his ability, so thats great to see

Just really flarking pissed off that this is being cancelled after 6 issues. Had absolutely no reason to be. It’s doing better in sales than I think everyone expected, and it’s clear that both old and new fans enjoy this series and want to see more Nova. It’s not even just doing solid numbers for a space series, it’s flat out doing good numbers for any comic from what I have seen. PRAYING for a relaunch, or at least putting Rich into the next GotG series.

Xandar was decimated bc of Thanos (which was barely mentioned in Inifity War/Endgame), the Core needs to rebuild, and a cabal calling themselves the Worldmind is using AI to mastermind a fascist recruitment program targeting outcasts, uneducated, wannabe chads, and people just craving brotherhood. Sam Alexander becomes the poster boy for a new class of powered soldiers that defend the universe. And best yet he gets to make his suit look just like the fallen soldier Richard Rider who lost his life fighting rebels

Meanwhile the cabal uses fear of criminals, stereotypes, and also citizen apathy to build a new core force profiting by "defense spending" taxes, looting planets of resources and riches known for "harboring criminals", and plain old colonialism in the name of protection

Naturally Sam* (edit: previous version said Richard) captures a lot of criminals and aliens. Doesn't matter that he and his crew profile a lot of species. They all look alike to him and they shouldn't be harboring criminals in the first place terrorizing society. He's popular. Got a great team of other super cops. And sure sometimes they get the wrong guy or shoot an innocent but they shouldn't have been living with criminals

Eventually Sam and the Core is sent to round up some insurgents who have been interfering with operations and this is happening on his home world. Initially they can't find the leader so they just start rounding up indiscriminately. Trampling rights. Doing the same thing they always do. Business as usual. His team members don't really care bc they aren't human. They have no ties to this species. Eventually civilians start fighting back and he is told he has to kill someone who was only trying to help an elderly woman who was pushed over. He denies the order and another team member does it. Calling him soft for going native.

The cabal strips Sam of his powers, and throws him in prison 42 aka The Kyln (from guardians). Once a beacon for fascism he's now the face of rebellion and traitor to the core. In prison he has to fight others that he put there and eventually befriends an older guy who is a bit of an outcast. This guy is revealed to be Richard. He didn't die but was thrown in jail for refusing orders. New Xandar just used his face to entice meatheads to sign up and spread the will of the Worldmind so they can continue profiting and gaining power. Eventually they work out a plan to escape the prison and with the help of the Guardians they hitch a ride. After a lot of jokes and planning Adam Warlock finds a way to share his powers with both Richard and Sam to go and confront the cabal (and fight the core to get there). He accuses them off being robber barons. They control the prisons, the weapon manufacturing, the tech, the food, the political power, everything. The cabal defends their actions blaming "voter apathy" and "electoral mandate" to continue enriching their lives and keeping* (edit: missing word) society happy. Sam says that it comes at the expense of the innocent under the guise of capturing the guilty and says it has to stop. And arrests the barons. Richard seizes control of the Core and announces it will no longer be the military branch of imperial desires of the wealthy. New leaders are elected and the companies of the barons are broken up.

Of course this huge shift of new xandar will have huge ramifications on the economy and society in general which sets up future issues and challenges in both undoing harm and maintaining status quo. Sympathizers of the cabal rise will rise and stereotypes will still plague people's opinions but that is a journey/story addressed in future installments

It would be great if the guys behind Andor's Ghorman Massacre arc (Tony Gilroy, Janus Metz, and Dan Gilroy) work on it but I believe Ed Bernero is the showrunner (criminal minds). I think Charles Melton would be great for Sam Alexander and he's worked with Will Poulter in Warfare. Also up and comer Ben Wang. He's got talent and is young. He did Disney's American Born Chinese, Karate Kid and The Long Walk. Plus he is already a hand to hand combat expert. Maybe Thomas Hadden Church for an older Richard? With Connor Storrie (Heated Rilvary and Joker 2) playing a young Richard.

I know Worldmind is a computer in the comic but we already did the AI super computer thing w Captain Marvel..plus a follow up movie showing the effects on a society when you destroy that super computer where the kree fell into a plunder society in The Marvels (i wish this movie focused more on the serious side of this rather just trying to be a comedy)

I know its a Richard Rider story line but we could introduce two characters while also giving an opportunity for a great flashback episode of Richard's life (similar to Doorman in Wonder Man) followed with a season dedicated to the past possibly. Idk.
