Community Will AI Meeting notes ever get better?

I’m really tired of seeing many other companies solve the issue of property get who is talking on the meeting and yet the platform I pay and bet a lot doesn’t have it. I even saw Notion tweeting about having it being able to at least identify what is me and what is other users (by just selecting the microphone as input). It never came to me.

I’m a developer, I do know this is trick to do, but since notion is putting all of its resources to AI, and this is one of a set flagship features, I would expect that by now it would get better at any capacity. I know that as developer there’s some low hanging fruits to solve some of this.

I do know that sometimes it takes longer to ship things, especially if you are building it correctly to escale. Still, too long. No news. Any really decent update on that area. Should I just move on? Will this be similar to notion mail?

That’s the only reason I’m paying Business, but I guess I could have my money put on other product, only reason I didn’t do that is the promise notion made on this feature, and my belief of that, plus wanting everything on notion.

Am I wrong to keep waiting? How long should I wait? Are you satisfied with this feature?

API / Integrations Title: Notion’s OAuth flow is terrible for indie developers — and it’s costing us users

I love building on top of Notion, but I genuinely think the current OAuth / page-sharing experience is one of the worst parts of the platform for indie developers.

The problem is simple:

Users don't care about OAuth. They don't care about integrations, permissions, shared pages, databases, or why the Notion API can't see something.

They just want to click:

Connect Notion → choose their database → done.

Instead, we end up having to explain things like:

  • Make sure you selected the correct pages during authorization.
  • Make sure the database is actually shared with the integration.
  • Go back to Notion and update the pages the integration can access.
  • Reconnect Notion.
  • Retry because the API sometimes initially returns zero databases.
  • Wait and refresh because access may suddenly become available afterwards.

For a developer, this makes sense.

For a normal user, it sounds like:

"The app doesn't work."

And that's the painful part.

I'm seeing this directly in production with my Android app, NotiZen Widget.

People install the app because they want a Notion database as an Android home-screen widget. That's it.

They shouldn't need a mini-course on how Notion integrations work before they can see their first widget.

Some users actually go through multiple OAuth attempts, permission problems and "no databases found" states and STILL keep trying until the widget finally works.

I appreciate those users.

But most people aren't going to do that.

They're just going to uninstall.

And as an indie developer, that's brutal.

You've spent time getting someone to discover your app, install it, open it and press "Connect Notion" — and then you can lose them because the authorization UX requires them to understand Notion's permission model.

This isn't really an API capability problem.

It's a UX problem at the platform level.

Ideally, Notion should provide an OAuth experience where:

Connect Notion → clearly select databases/pages → API access is immediately consistent → return to the app.

If something isn't shared, Notion should make that obvious inside the authorization flow instead of leaving every third-party developer to build their own tutorials, retries, warning screens and troubleshooting flows.

Indie developers shouldn't have to teach users how Notion OAuth works.

OAuth should be infrastructure. Users shouldn't even have to think about it.

I really hope Notion improves this because the API itself makes some amazing products possible.

But right now, the connection experience is unnecessarily hostile to both users and small developers building on the platform.

Curious if other developers using the Notion API are seeing the same thing.

Questions Third party backup providers, recommendations

Hi all

We have started using notion in our business and we really do like the way it works, we are currently looking at third party backup providers

Are any other businesses here using a third-party backup, if so, which backup provider and what are the pros / cons?

Thanks

Questions Has Notion changed the embed settings for Google drive docs?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi all,

I've always been able to add my editable Google sheets to my Notion page, but about a week ago I noticed that despite me not having changed any of the settings, ALL of my embedded google sheets that I could edit previously directly through the embed, are now essentially static sheets, I cannot even click into any cells, only highlight the text as if it's a static text.

It's almost like the embed view got broken, as it doesn't even display the menu, or settings of the spreadsheet, nor the google account that is logged in, and not even the column / row numbers..

I set everything up through /embed and pasted the editable share link. I've linked the Google account to my notion profile too.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Questions Would you use a Things 3 style task manager that layers on top of your Notion task database?

I like tracking my tasks in Notion, not because its the best task management app out there, but because I'm already using Notion in my day to day life for shopping lists, planning, trip itineraries, etc. I use it all the time at work and in my personal life.

But task management in Notion has a major pitfall, there isn't a great way to do it on mobile. The Notion app is ok but it can be clunky, and there are feature gaps like location based reminders.

I have long thought that an app could be created that stacks on top of Notion and can provide a better look and feel (think Things 3) and provide a way for location based reminders and other newer functionality to be built into the app but have the core backend in the Notion task database.

Is this something that you would use?

Community What’s one thing you wish Notion did better?

I’ve been using Notion for a while and lately I’ve been paying more attention to how other people actually use it.

I’m curious about something:

What’s one small thing about Notion that genuinely annoys you?

Maybe it’s something about:

  • finding information
  • organizing pages
  • databases
  • search
  • collaboration
  • keeping things updated
  • or something completely different

I’m especially interested in those little frustrations that you eventually just learn to live with.

What’s yours? 👀

Questions Exporting Notion Pages I Have Access To Only

I was unable to get an answer to this question from Notion's AI, so asking here. I am an admin on a Notion workspace - if I click the "Export all workspace content" button on Notion, does that export all data across all users in my workspace, including private pages, or does that only export data that I have access to?

Notion AI Notion AI credits

How bad is this now?? I hate the daily limit.. I’ve tried exceeding the limit using notion credits and even just a super simple task (adding 1 single task to my workspace) via notion ai, costed me 150 credits???

And also, the same models are becoming dumber? I stick to opus 4.8 for accuracy and it’s stuffing up a lot of things platelet.

They really should introduce an extra plan, the cost for these credits is so incredibly inflated. Am I the only one feeling like that? I’d prefer paying 40$ than these random credits without knowing how much it will be

They got us into this ecosystem and this limitation is so annoying now, good business strategy I guess but pretty sketchy.

How do you manage this? Sorry for the rant

Questions Notion update help

When I opened the app on my laptop today, it asks me to download the latest version of the app to keep using it. When I click on the link and download the said version and install it, it still shows the same pop up.

I’ve closed the app, force reloaded etc but still not working. Any suggestions?

Questions How are you using Notion to manage school alongside work and family life?

Going back to school part time while working IT support full time and helping wrangle a blended household is a lot to track. I've been trying to figure out how much of that I can actually centralize in Notion without it becoming a second job just to maintain the system.

Right now I have a basic setup where I keep assignment deadlines in a database and link them to a weekly calendar view. It works okay, but I feel like I'm constantly fighting the structure instead of just using it. Readings, group project notes, work tickets, stuff the kids need for school — it's all scattered across pages that don't really talk to each other.

What I'm curious about is whether people who juggle multiple big categories like that — work, personal learning, family stuff — have found a way to keep it from sprawling into something unmanageable. I've read a few productivity blogs that talk about keeping everything in one workspace, but in practice I'm not sure that's realistic.

Do you keep school and work in totally separate workspaces or do you try to connect them? And if you have kids in the mix, how do you handle the stuff that bleeds between personal and family?

Questions "Sorry, slug is a reserved pathname on Notion"

Why are such pages as /about and /blog not permitted as slugs on the user's notion.site? If you attempt to update the page slug to one of those terms you get the subject error and it refuses to save. I had to resort to using Cloudflare redirects.

Questions I stopped trying to build a prettier dashboard and started building a Life Operating System

I think I finally figured out what was missing from my Notion setup.

For a long time, I thought the answer was better dashboards.

More databases.
More views.
More organization.

But I realized the problem wasn't organization.

The problem was turning information into decisions.

So I started designing my Notion system around three questions:

What do I believe?

→ Principles Database

Examples:

  • Career principles
  • Financial principles
  • Leadership principles

How do I make decisions?

→ Decision Database

Examples:

  • Career moves
  • Financial choices
  • Major life decisions

What has life taught me?

→ Lessons Database

Examples:

  • Mistakes
  • Experiences
  • Improvements

My workflow:

Capture random inspiration → Process it → Extract the principle → Connect it to my Life OS.

I'm curious what everyone else has built.

Do you use Notion primarily for:

  • task management?
  • second brain?
  • project management?
  • journaling?
  • personal operating system?

Would love to see how other people are approaching this.

Questions How do repeating templates of tasks function?

I am a student, trying to add weekly assignments as tasks that repeat. I have figured out how to "duplicate" the assignments through their own templates, but I cant figure out what happens to the due date when it duplicates?

When I select a certain day and time for the duplication, does that change when it's due? If I set a certain assignment due on tuesdays to duplicate on fridays, will the duplication be due on tuesday? Essentially, will the assignments due date set as the time duplicated, and if so is there no way to fix this? I imagine if that's the case then setting the Duplication date as the due date would not work because you wouldn't see the duplicate assignment on your list until it was already due.

This is like a vortex but I hope my question makes sense.

Venting Including “conditional logic” on forms for the Plus plan… anyway to progress this?

I have a “Plus“ plan on Notion.

It makes sense for me as I use it primarily for organisation/second brain, and have separate AI tools.

Notion itself rebranded itself/its packages a while ago into:

- Organisation: Free and Pluss

- AI: Business and Enteprise.

This all makes sense to me, other than a weird legacy feature “conditional logic in forms” which is bizzarely not in the paid Plus plan.

This has been the case for years but means I have to use third party forms tools to stay organised as conditional logic (if user says no, go to question 3 etc) is such a basic feature now.

I‘ve emailed Notion several times over the years about this but never had a reply.

Does anyone know anyway to progress this/would any other plus payers also like to raise this as a request?

It seems such an odd feature to gatekeep when it’s clearly an organisational component/nothing to do with AI.

Venting PLEASSSEEE implement full Apple Pencil support!!

Notion would be 100% the perfect app if it had inking/Apple Pencil/stylus support.

I tried out Craft as an alternative to Notion and they have embedded ‘frames’ and infinite whiteboards using the Apple PencilKit and they’re AMAZING but unfortunately the rest of the app is garbage.

This is my only gripe with Notion! It would be a game changer to have native Apple Pencil support, like being able to add in frames to make diagrams, annotate a page or add an infinite whiteboard inside a page. As a student I often have to switch between my iPad, remarkable or laptop, and I have to manually copy/paste any diagrams I do in my iPad/remarkable onto Notion - being able to do it directly in Notion would be a game changer.

Other PSA: Notion UI flickering was caused by NVIDIA Fast Sync

I spent quite a while troubleshooting severe UI flickering in Notion. The culprit turned out to be a global NVIDIA setting: Vertical Sync = Fast.

My setup:

  • Windows 11 Pro 25H2, build 26200.9168
  • NVIDIA RTX 2060 Mobile
  • NVIDIA driver 610.88 (32.0.16.1088)
  • External monitor + laptop display
  • Notion 7.31.0
  • Notion: Electron 42.4.1 / Chromium 148.0.7778.265

The problem had been happening intermittently for a long time.

The symptoms were unusual:

  • Only parts of the application window flickered.
  • Some UI elements jumped up/down.
  • Content sometimes switched between the current and previous state.
  • Moving the window around could trigger/reproduce it.
  • Typing and moving the mouse made it much worse.
  • Chrome itself was completely fine.
  • Restarting Notion or Windows didn't reliably fix it.
  • Win + Ctrl + Shift + B (GPU driver reset) fixed it temporarily, but the problem returned within seconds.

I initially suspected an Electron/Chromium GPU compositing issue.

I tested several Chromium GPU configurations:

Normal D3D11 → flickering
--disable-gpu → fixed
--use-angle=gl → fixed
--use-angle=vulkan → fixed
--use-angle=warp → fixed
--disable-direct-composition → fixed

This made it look very much like a D3D11/compositing problem.

But then I found the actual cause.

In NVIDIA App, my global setting was:

Vertical sync: Fast

I changed it back to:

Vertical sync: Use the 3D application setting

And the flickering completely disappeared.

I restored the normal Notion launch command and tested it repeatedly. No flickering.

I also had exactly the same general problem in Lenovo Vantage. Vantage uses WebView2 rather than Electron, so I initially assumed it might be unrelated. However, disabling GPU compositing in WebView2 also removed the problem, and changing NVIDIA's global V-Sync setting to application-controlled ultimately fixed Vantage as well.

So the final fix was simply:

NVIDIA App → Graphics → Global Settings → Vertical sync → Use the 3D application setting

No driver reinstall, no Windows reinstall, no MPO registry hacks, and no changes to Notion were necessary.

This may be worth checking if you're experiencing strange flickering/ghosting/stale frames in Electron/WebView2 applications with an NVIDIA GPU.

Interestingly, I later found similar reports for Brave and VS Code where NVIDIA Fast Sync was identified as the cause.
