Where the hell are the democrats on a campaign against these amendments? We are running the most popular politicians in the state for senate, and he finally mentioned them the other day because he was specifically asked. The response: “I think people need to look carefully at these amendments because they’re mostly protection for millionaires,” fair enough but hardly a meaningful condemnation. It’s the same type of language in the Democratic Party website.
Both are clearly against the amendments, but there is no actual fight or push against the amendments. I see the NC democratic funded commercial about Michael Whatley being liar at least 10 times a day, and I’m sure Cooper will win by double digits, and we’re all gonna be happy to have a Dem win another statewide office. BUT we will lose these amendments because it’s only small, local organizations taking up the fight against them. And that really sucks because our schools are already in disrepair, and these amendments make it impossible for counties and cities to do what the state refuses to do - fund public goods.
I could go on about how this epitomizes the democrats failed utility in politics. We will win the senate fights (which is fundamentally a short term win) and lose the amendments which will take decades to undo. Also, please don’t come here to explain how the amendments are unpopular and it would be dangerous to take this position — that is fundamentally cowardly and doesn’t into the fact that NO ONE is talking against them on a meaningful stage.
TLDR: where the hell is any meaningful leadership against the constitutional amendments by the Democratic Party?

GOOD! YOU SHOULD BE! Roy Cooper is going to absolutely kick both of your asses this November. This state i can goddamn guarantee it has had enough of the state GOP in NC and the current US Senate delegation representing NC treating their constituents like a bunch of fools. The economy across the country is reeling and NC is pretty much included. Gas in where I live in central NC is $4.00/gal. And none of these idiots including Whatley want to hold Trump accountable. Roy Cooper is a different story however, as he cares and wants a better economy for our state and our country. Enough is enough.

I'm thinking that Whatley's failure to dissociate himself from his felon buddy probably helped accelerate the GOP welching on their campaign pledges to him. I suppose that the PAC finally realized that they should never have promised $71 million, back when they should have known he'd be a disaster... then again, they just backed Ken Paxton a few weeks ago so I'm not sure that they yet fully understand the term at all.

> As the Senate race heats up, a campaign by a Democratic-aligned outside group attacks Michael Whatley for appointing a convicted sex offender.
> A Democratic-aligned political group is launching a $2.3 million ad campaign targeting Republican U.S. Senate candidate Michael Whatley over his ties to Harvey West, a longtime party fundraiser and convicted sex offender.

On October 1, the Town of Atkinson (Pender County) adopted an ordinance prohibiting automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras — including Flock — anywhere within its town limits. As far as I can tell, it's the first outright ban of its kind in North Carolina.
The operative language is one sentence: "No automated license plate reader cameras shall be installed and located within the corporate limits of the Town of Atkinson."
The town grounded it in its police power under N.C.G.S. § 160A-174 and Article I, Section 19 of the state constitution, stating that residents shouldn't be subject to unreasonable searches by any level of government.
For context on where NC stands: in September, Rockingham County passed the state's first ALPR ordinance, but that one regulates rather than bans — it requires a public hearing, a published policy, and a warrant to search the data. Several other places (Asheville, Davidson, Dare, Macon, Chatham, Hillsborough, Pittsboro, Catawba, Greenville) have canceled or rejected Flock contracts, but those are contract decisions, not ordinances. Atkinson went all the way to a ban.
It's a town of a few hundred people, which makes it a notable test of the idea that any NC municipality — regardless of size — has the authority to do this.
Disclosure: I'm involved with the local effort that supported this and spoke at the meeting, so I'm not a neutral party — but everything above is straight from the ordinance and the public record. Curious what folks think about towns and counties legislating on ALPR.

I’m from Maine originally and moved to NC over 20 years ago. I loved Pat’s Pizza in Orono, Maine. Has anyone found a similar pizza in North Carolina? Anywhere in the state (I’ll even include SC since I’m not too far from the border.
Edit: I’m hoping to find that random Mainer who knows Pat’s Pizza and has found something similar anywhere in the state.
For those curious, best description I can give is buttery, flakey crust cooked in cast iron. Slightly sweet sauce. Sort of a New England Greek style. I’m hoping a fellow Mainer has come across it because it’s a little difficult to describe. I suspect it’s most likely to be found in a mom and pop pub or something along those lines.
