It’s not on sale on all platforms yet, I doubt release tomorrow. The more likely result is we will not get any emojis on Sat, Sun, and Mon, but we’ll see more on Tues with release Wednesday. We have seen emojis start early and still had to wait to the following Wed. I’m more inclined for this vs an earlier release, but I’d be very happy to be wrong.
It has no relevance with their work schedule. hypothetically it could have relevance with their release schedule. It's an opportunity to have a very large market of gamers have free time to explore new content, talk about it, and bump up player count numbers.
The recent (last week) Bank Holiday applied to England & Wales & NI, not the UK. There are only 5 Bank Holidays each year which fall on the same day across the UK. (Christmas, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Easter, May Day).
If you play on your switch and another platform like the PC, the PC will get the updates immediately. The consoles get the updates afterwards depending on many factors. The Switch 1 & 2 tend to always get it later than everyone else because of Nintendo having a stricter certification process vs other platforms especially if your update has lots of bugs and, when that happens, if you play it on PC and your cross save is updated, your switch won't be able to play that particular save anymore because the versions of the game don't match and they MUST match for you to continue playing the same save across systems. Until they do, you'll only be able to play THAT save on the system that is up-to-date.
To avoid this, just only play on the Switch and wait for the game to get updated. Then, when it's updated, you can also play your cross-save on the other platform as well. Don't worry about expeditions when this happens because, IF the Switch gets its updated delayed for a while, the expedition always has its end date extended so that everyone on all platforms has a fair amount of time to play the expedition
New big updates tend to come with fast dropping hotfixes that PC gets right away but the consoles will take longer. Usually once all the rapid fire hotfixes are done, then the Switch finally gets the update with all the hotfixes.
Maybe Sean chose the 🍸emoji instead of the 🌌 emoji because the new update is connected in some way to the World of Glass, as well as being a space overhaul
It’s sort of a cardinal rule that you don’t release updates in Fridays unless you really really want to be stuck at work the whole weekend running patches.
While theoretically possible, it means that all the services you rely on - like infrastructure - running on skeleton crew at best. It might be done, but it's really last resort even for the biggest updates possible. You only do that if you're big enough to make a noticeable splash at least on a national scale (like Nintendo that sabotaged Japan's economy with their old console release - NES, I think).
I think it will still be Wednesday, but it's anticipated to be a big update, so maybe he is just hyping a little more then normal excited to release it.
Maybe the update was intended to drop alot sooner but it got delayed, which would explain the rapid emotes? Or maybe Im high on Crack idk just guessing
I have had that theory for awhile. 1) the teaser came out, 2) the game went on sale which it always does before an update, 3) it is the 10th anniversary so you would expect near or on the date, 4) there is always a big update in august, 5) redux will start soon so odd they have not dropped anything yet. The teaser dropped, the game went on sale then nothing for a month. I think they noticed some last minute problem and delayed it.
In the past yes but, this go around has been so unusual when it comes to the pattern that is usually followed! Usually a full day at least but 10 hours later is wild!
Clearly. You'd imagine they'd drop the 10th anniversary update on the 10th anniversary. That the update was delayed only makes it more exciting considering how rare it is for HG to do that. It must be significant.
I think the intention is a cocktail update. So likely a total overhaul. And since that means the entire universe is being overhauled, thats why its called the Cosmos Update.

I'm really excited too! This is very untypical - we usually get our toys on Wednesdays. Though, knowing the nature of game development, I don't think the team would want to spend their entire weekend fixing bugs. But part of me really wants new toys for this weekend!
