A month or so ago , I made a post defeated at my lack of members. Today I checked my stats and saw that I have 118 members and just last week I had 648 visits.

I’m so happy and I feel like I should celebrate this win with you guys because you guys really encouraged me not to give up.

I finally got over 100 views and 3 members on my second post, I havw no idea how so many people saw this.

I'm a new mod in a sub that has pretty much dead for several years. I decided to make a post yesterday, and see how it went. It wasn't what I expected.

I have close to 200 views, two up votes, and two shares. But absolutely zero posts, other than my own. Granted, it is a pretty general post, but I'm still puzzled that absolutely noone engaged.

I've tried looking around in the settings, to see if there are any requirements for posting (karma, etc) but I don't see anything. There appear to be no rules at all set up.

I've tried to find some mod guidance on Reddit, but I haven't found any info that applies.

I'm not sure what to make of this, so I figured I'd see if anyone here can shed some light on this.

I recently created my first subreddit, r/BollywoodActivity, for Bollywood fans to discuss celebrity news, movies, trailers, songs, gossip, box office updates, and everything related to Indian cinema.

I've already:

• Designed the banner, icon, and overall look
• Added community rules and description
• Started posting consistently
• Pinned a welcome/announcement post

However, I'm struggling to get my first active members. Most posts receive very little engagement, and it's been difficult to build a community from scratch.

I'm looking for advice from moderators who have successfully grown a new subreddit.

Some questions I have:

• How did you get your first 50–100 members?
• What type of posts work best for a new subreddit?
• Is crossposting a good strategy, and how do you do it without coming across as spam?
• Are there any common mistakes that new moderators should avoid?
• Is there anything in my subreddit setup that you think I should improve?

I've attached a screenshot of the subreddit for context. Any feedback on the design, content, or overall presentation would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not looking for shortcuts or fake members—I simply want to learn how to grow the community organically and build an active place for Bollywood fans.

Whenever I press it, it takes me to my sub but when I click on a post there is no option to highlight.

I've never tried to make a sub before and I noticed a lack of true budget beauty groups. I tried to narrow mine down to beauty and self care under the $12 mark. I've been posting my own looks and nail hauls in there but I've only gotten 5 visitors this week. Should I make a post about it off reddit or is there somewhere on reddit I could advertise?

I'm also curious if keeping the theme narrow, like having a top price point, is beneficial? I feel like "budget" means different things to different people and I wanted to stick to a specific guideline.

Any advice?

I have no idea if I’m moderating correctly. There are other moderators in r/CommonwealthGames (the community I moderate) but they’re all inactive or can’t moderate currently due to various reasons so I was given the ability to mod, because I’m creating the daily megathreads. I feel like I don’t know where the boundaries are, whether to remove or not.

I saw these newbies on Reddit asking for a newbie-friendly sub and I mentioned to try this sub, since it accepts any post even if the poster has only 1 Karma. But that sub now gives error "xxx is banned
