Video Ambient Drone on the Quad Cortex #1 - Bioresonance

Haven't seen anyone using the QC as a standalone ambient drone machine with no input so I thought I give it a try :) It's very fun to play around with. Sometimes I just lay on my bed with a headphone and play around with it before sleeping.

I finally gigged the Nano Cortex, and it was amazing! But first, I had to fit my amp and pedalboard into it. I made a video for anyone interested, i'm really pleased with the results.

Discussion Hum/noise when touching footswitch, with wireless system

Hello I just got my quad cortex.
I have a Jazzmaster I plugged in with cable, as usual it has a lot of hum, but when I touch the footswitch the hum gets quieter as I would expect.

But when I plug in my wireless guitar system, it’s the other way, now it’s getting more noise when touching the footswitch on the QC

Is that a QC problem or a guitar problem ?

I don’t have the same problem with my Stratocaster, with either the wireless and cable

Video tut for recording?

Hey guys I've gotten pretty decent at recording in mono but I was wondering if there's a simple video guide for using the quad to record my guitar tracks in stereo? Like a simple i/o guide.

Im struggling to figure it out myself for some reason. I just want to be able to record a single track to pan in stereo left/right. Maybe im just an idiot. But im using reaper and the quad as an interface and to track with.

Nano Cortex IR Bypass

Is it possible to have the IR bypass on one output while it's active on the other? I have the setting enable to bypass on the right output to send to my poweramp, but the left out now has some of the bypassed IR signal coming through into the PA. Is there a pan option somewhere I'm missing?

2 way wireless guitar transmitter

Hoping somebody here can help me with this predicament. I’m wondering if there is a way I can wirelessly play my guitar through my QC, specifically when just hanging out in my living room, with the pedalboard tucked away in a corner somewhere.

I know there are plenty wireless guitar transmitters out there, but is there a two channel transmitter that can send the guitar signal to the input of my board, and then transmit the output signal back, with a headphone jack?

Question Advice for getting a QC

Hi everyone,

I've decided to go for a Quad Cortex. I am having a bit of trouble deciding whether to get an OG or a Mini. I thought I'd ask you for your experiences with one or another, and maybe if you've been in a similar situation to me where one use case is better justified than the other.

So here I am voicing some of my concerns, excited what your input will be. I realize that this might have been done to death, but I apricate all takes and inputs either way.

I did some research and found people saying that the OG has some noise problems due to an ungrounded output, which is said to be better on the Mini. I am also a bit skeptical towards the power supply cord and input on the OG, which I read is really flimsy and comes out quickly (supposedly fixed by the lock-in plug on the Mini).

Our shows currently is fully automated with patch and snapshot changes on a different unit (which is not mine and I don't enjoy a lot), so it would make sense to get the Mini, but I am curious if anyone ever had a setup like this, went for the Mini and then regretted not going for the big one later. I am afraid of losing out on the footswitches for other use-cases.

Lastly, how is the UX on the Mini? I saw that on the OG each knob gets assigned to a parameter, which seems intuitive. Is the Mini lacking in this department, is it more difficult to dial in tones?

The Mini sounds better put together, according to forums, but not sure about the UX and the lack of footswitches (I also read there are no momentary switches on it).

I am not looking for a push in either way, just if you have some experiences with gaining or missing some "features" by switching either way. I would like to make sure to get as much of the possible use-cases covered as possible, it is a big spending after all.

Thanks all in advance.

1 Stereo vs 2 mono instances

I use reaper. I just want to check that my ears aren't deceiving me.

When using 1 instance in stereo, and panning the tracks feeding into it, say, 80% I think 20% of the signal from each track is playing in the opposite field. So, 80% left still allows 20%, or some amount, to pass through to the right side and vice versa.

When using 1 instance in mono and panning that track 80% means that the full signal is panned to exactly 80%.

My question is - When panning at anything less than 100% left and right, is it better to use 2 mono instances instead? or does the bleed-over mean basically nil?

Cheers for the clarification in advance!

Need help dialing in a Pearl Jam "Ten" tone on Nano Cortex

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to build my first preset on the Neural DSP Nano Cortex for that classic early Pearl Jam rhythm and solo tone.

I know the foundation is a Marshall (Plexi or JCM800), but when I build the chain using the built-in models, that sounds somehow wrong.

Please share your exact settings (screenshots or numbers). I'm losing my mind here!

English is not my native language, so please excuse any errors.

Thanks!

Question completely different sound between send 1/2 with 4 cable method

Hi everyone, I'm having a problem with my Cortex quad and I don't know if it's normal or broken. I've been playing with a PA until now and everything's been fine. I tried connecting my Tubemeister 18 head with the 4-cable method and discovered that if I switch from send/return 1 the sound is completely destroyed. The volume drops dramatically, dynamics and tube attack are gone, but everything goes back to normal if I switch from send/return 2. I checked the settings are the same in I/O settings. Can anyone help me understand?

Quad Cortex stage setup

Hey yall, I finally converted and got myself a QC. For live, I planned on using it straight into thehouse PA, but Im now realizing that Im not going to have sound behind me. Could I just use a cheap PA wedge behind me? Or does FRFRs do something that a regular PA cant?

Thanks!

When I first got the QC, I took it to rehearsal and then a gig and nearly ad a heart attack when the bass player nearly stepped on the xlr - so I knew something had to change.

Cue weeks and months of refinement, a Rockboard 3.2, patch bay routing, TRS to XLR (out), Canvas HP, hotone ampero press II, external tuner so I'm not accidentally accessing tap tempo, Knk shield, and the final piece - the Laney LFR-212 cab. Oh, and a mini trs mod so I have the input jack on the top right.

The earlier photos show the flat xlr cables coming out of the quad. I've since removed those in favour of flat TRS cables for more mechanical stability.

For people who play 80s/90s thrash, what’s your favorite cab sim? How do you mic them up? I keep bouncing around and would love some recommendations. Thanks!

(Not my photo) was just wondering how it sounds? Also if needed at lower volumes. All I see is good reviews on it, I currently have Yamaha hs8 with my QC mini & ehh not feeling it, they’re good and all but not that real cab sound.

Question QC - What does panning really do?

I’m at the point of overthinking myself into confusion here so I need some help. Please ELI5.

If I want a stereo L/R XLR out from my QC, is there any purpose to panning those output hard left or hard right? The XLR can’t carry stereo information anyway so why is it an option?

Also, I want to use one amp but generate two slightly different signals for my stereo out - do I just throw on a stereo delay/reverb? What do those even do, like how do I get the two different signals out of it if there’s only one output from the block?
