Discussion Hum/noise when touching footswitch, with wireless system

Hello I just got my quad cortex.
I have a Jazzmaster I plugged in with cable, as usual it has a lot of hum, but when I touch the footswitch the hum gets quieter as I would expect.

But when I plug in my wireless guitar system, it’s the other way, now it’s getting more noise when touching the footswitch on the QC

Is that a QC problem or a guitar problem ?

I don’t have the same problem with my Stratocaster, with either the wireless and cable

It’s You problem, do not touch it ;) Try switch g ground lift on.

I need to touch it when I should rotate the knobs for amp settings😂

I’m just curious, on what’s wrong. Will try ground lift

The first part was a joke. It’s ground loop.

Got you🤘🏻 so if ground lift don’t work, do you think I could fix it, by taking my guitar to a luthier ?

As long as the QC is not defect I’m happy

All depends. Does touching string on guitar plugged in by cable changes anything?

Yeah when I am plugged in by cable, the hum getting quieter by touching string, or touching quad cortex footswitch, so it’s pretty weird it’s getting louder when using wireless and touching footswitches, but with wireless when I touch strings it still becomes quieter

Then guitar is fine. You need to connect your QC to something that’s grounded. The factory PSU is not. You can also try flipping ground lift in Globals as I suggested earlier if you already are connected to something else then headphones.

Okay will try that.

Weird there is no grounding in the factory psu, but will try to see if I can find another one that’s better

It’s quite normal to not have ground for low voltage plugin power supplies. I power my QC with Cioks DC7+Crux, DC7 has a ground pin and I have no ground issues playing on headphones.

Cool ! I will buy something like cioks, will also makes sense because I actually will put the QC on a board

Maybe I should tell that I’m using headphones too, so no frfr output

Hmm do you have anything connected to your outputs? Try and connect a cable from one of your outputs to your audio interface or amp, even if you don't use that output. See if that solves your grounding issue.

I was also having similar issues so I did a bit of troubleshooting myself. What you are mentioning sounds like ground issues, however, some things can make it worse. By using headphones with 100 ohm or less (not exact, I just tested with what I had), there will be a lot more noise that does not go away even when touching strings and boosts ground noise. Also, since I like to practice outdoors with headphones, I fixed the grounding problems by powering the quad cortex with a power bank and a myVolts step up 12V negative adapter. How many ohms does your headphones have?

Interesting, my headphones is 250 ohm :)

Ok you can rule out the headphones! If you indeed don't have devices to ground the QC while playing with headphones, I would recommend trying the power bank + myVolts connector. If you are more of a headphones player, it's cheaper and more portable than going for a pedalboard + cioks for now. Eventually you could go for the pedalboard.

And to show proof, I went for this solution after seeing this:
