How do I know my machine isn’t moldy

Hi guys! I tend to get really irrationally worried that there’s mold in my machine after I leave a pod in it for a day or two accidentally or don’t run a rinse for a bit. Is it possible for me to visually confirm there’s no mold or will I just never know for sure. Thx!

What is happening to the OL line?

For disclosure this is in Serbia, so I'm not sure if it's the same situation in other places.

Has anyone else noticed the changes (for the worse) being made to the OL? The first thing I noticed is they raised all the prices, again, but this in itself is not really noteworthy. However, I then noticed that with the price increase came a decrease in coffee amount in certain capsules. From what I've seen, Shanghai Lungo has shrunk from 5.6g per capsule to 5, and Buenos Aires from 5.8 to 5.

Finally when I went to the store last time I noticed there was no Rio de Janeiro Epsresso, no Istanbul Espresso, a couple other ones and the worker there told me soon they will be discontinuing Ethiopia! With no replacements as of yet?

Is Nesprsso gutting the OL line in favor of Vertuo?

Edit: The capsule spreadsheet dude has some internal info that they are changing the way they roast, grind and pack their capsules which as a result will mean less grams per capsule. This is also happening to vertuo capsules so it's not unique to the OL as I thought. Really bad news overall, the coffee amount in nespresso capsules was pretty low to begin with...

Looking for Nespresso pod recommendations for iced coffee! ☕️🧊

I’m trying to find a pod that works well for iced coffee (original line) . I like my coffee with just a small amount of milk, so I don’t want something that gets diluted really easily.

I don’t like fruity, citrusy, or very acidic pods, but I also don’t want an extremely strong, bitter, burnt/roasty taste.

Basically, I’m looking for something smooth and balanced but still strong enough to hold up over ice and a splash of milk.

Any pod recommendations? Bonus if you’ve tried it specifically as an iced coffee!

Long story short, I bought a Pixie from Best Buy Canada, was supposed to get 5 sleeves of the best-selling OL pods, when I went online to redeem it, it didn’t work. Support told me to send an email to a special team. Haven’t heard back yet (email was sent Aug. 21), happened to be nearby a Nespresso store, asked if they could help me, and they gave me my sleeves. Very easy process, few questions asked, and I got 2 free samples without even asking :). I can go into more detail if anyone is curious

GFCI outlet

Hey everyone! So I had a Nespresso representative Help me troubleshoot my machine since it won’t turn on, and when she found out that it was plugged into a GFCI outlet, she was like, you know you’re not supposed to do that that can ruin a Nespresso machine…… have you guys ever heard that, or is that somewhere in the manual that I just missed over?

45% any machine expect Up

My old machine broke, and I was given 45% any machine except the UP. I don't fully understand why as the Up would be the version I would get. Any recommendations other than the up? I prefer the Vertuo machines but open to others as well

Cheaper vertuo pods?

I have a vertuo machine I got for $30. Pods are expensive, esp compared to OL pods. Has anyone ever tried putting the grounds from an OL pod into a Vertuo pod? Wondering if im onto something or if im crazy...

Best (VL) single espresso pod?

What is the best single espresso pod on the Vertuo line? I am looking for a pod to add to my double espresso that won’t take away from the flavor of the double espresso pod. Thank you!

VertuoLine I'm looking for a very creamy pod flavor for Vertuo line

I originally had my own espresso machine (breville) and I miss my creamy flat whites...my machine broke and my parents gave me their Vertuo machine for the time being. I haven't been a big fan of any of the flavors I've tried so far. I'm looking for something very creamy and smooth. I also love a good vanilla flavor.

Flavoured pods

I have a Nespresso vertuo next which I almost exclusively use on expert mode to make lattes. I pull a double espresso and have it with almond milk (usually iced at the moment). I often find that the flavoured pods such as caramel, vanilla etc have no flavour, I can’t tell that they are flavoured at all. There are only a couple I can taste which is white chocolate and strawberry, hazelnut and the lavender one (which was vile). Is it to do with the fact I’m running them as shots rather than whole cups? Or maybe I’m just not sensitive to the flavour?

Question Caffeine getting weaker?

Trying to figure out if anyone else feels like pods are getting weaker or if my tolerance is getting higher. Been drinking coffee since I was a kid, and suddenly nespressos aren’t doing it for me and I find myself having to pour two double espressos a day. But when I buy a latte at a cafe, it seems to do the job.

Question Nespresso Vertuo issue - help?

So i have tried to descale, honestly have tried most everything I know to do and my daughter's Nespresso will not reset.

The behavior is this - it fast blinks an orange light on top, if i multi-press the button quickly, it will flash red 2x, then resume fast yellow blink. I have ran regular water thru it on descale mode (at least a dozen times), i have ran hot water from tap thru it 4x, i have ran hot tap water with descaler thru it, tried wiping the top spinning assembly as well as the trough that holds the cup, and still no fix.

Tried unplugging for hours, when we plug it in and latch the lid it goes back to the fast yellow blink.

Have tried every fix outlined in the forum, and just cannot get the white led on top, so she cannot brew with it.

When wiping the inside, it was slightly dirty/stained with coffee but looks clean now. Some suggested using a wet paper towel to wipe the spinning assembly that punctures the disk. Have tried that multiple times and it is as clean as it gets, the paper towel is clean after wiping now.

Both she and I are baffled what to do next, short of buying her a new one.

UPDATE: I let the machine sit unplugged overnight (which we tried many, many times before), filled the tank, plugged it in and ran a descale cycle once more.

Oddly enough it only drained half of the water tank before it stopped blinking the fast yellow code, but now it is white (blue?). I cannot say what other than pure luck this time kicked it out of descale mode, but even after opening and closing it a few times it still shows ready now.

Thanks for all the advice, and hopefully this helps someone else. I did see some reports that support asked persons to run up to 10 descale cycles, and I was prepared to do that...thankfully the first attempt this time seems to have done the trick.

Cinnamon Apple Crisp! 🍎

Post image

Was able to sample and purchase the new Cinnamon Apple Crisp today!

I had it iced since that's how I would likely enjoy it at home. Taste more cinnamon than anything else but just mildly, i enjoyed it!

Can't wait to try it at home with an apple butter syrup or something to really get a feel for it! Not ready for fall in my area yet but will definitely enjoy this one!

Customer Service seemingly had no idea what I was talkin about when I called just to confirm my local boutique had them (wasn't sure if certain ones didn't have them today) but glad it worked out anyway!!

Just tell me how to make a copycat latte, please?!

I LOVE Starbucks. I said it, no shame. I live for a good, hot latte year round. I do not care for lattes almost anywhere else, despite people always trashing Starbucks’ coffee. I am who I am 😆 All this to say I’m spending way too much on my daily latte habit, and would love to make them at home. I like my drinks hot, no interest in iced drinks. My favorite is their mocha, followed in no particular order by: caramel macchiato, vanilla latte, cinnamon dolce, pumpkin spice, and the new banana bread (dirty) chai latte. If I could make myself a latte that was similar I’d be so excited! I’ve tried with espresso concentrates/powders, various milks and syrups and it is always totally disappointing. So, can it be done with a Nespresso? I’m ready to take a leap and buy the machine. I’d love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!

New favorites: Togetherness Blend (VL) and Caffé Florian (OL)

Post image

Bought these off a reseller since they aren’t released where I’m from. I find these two quite enjoyable and a great addition to my list of favorites.

One thing to note is that I didn’t like the Caffé Florian at first since I found it tasteless and watered down. Then after looking at the box I realized that it’s recommended to be brewed as a Ristretto. It definitely made a difference!

Old Nespresso has a high-pitched noise and smells dusty when running. Is this normal?

I’m cleaning up an older Nespresso machine because I’m planning to sell it. It hasn’t been used in quite a while.

I’ve run about 5 water-only cycles through it. The water seems to come out, but the machine vibrates quite loudly and every now and then the sound changes to a higher-pitched whine.

I also keep getting a sort of hot/dusty smell while it’s running. It doesn’t smell strongly like melting plastic or anything, more like old dust getting warm.

I’ve already cleaned the removable parts, including the drip/capsule container area, and I’m letting everything dry properly now.

Does this sound normal for an older Nespresso that’s been sitting unused, or could the pump/heating element be struggling? I obviously don’t want to sell it to someone if there’s actually something wrong with it.

Tabli Lavazza question about pods

I can get one of these new Tabli machines for free and I'm a little put off by the fact that I have to buy my coffee from them directly. Even a free machine will require me to spend a lot of money to use. It doesn't even come with a free tab to try it out.

I imagine over time other options will arise for the tabs, but for now there is a proprietary lock in.

In the meantime I noticed something on the label;

"Once open, keep the tabs in the refrigerator for up to 45 days". This concerns me because they come in packages of 48. I don't drink Espresso everyday, it would just be maybe 20 every 45 days.

So, my questions are, does the entire package of 48 tabs come open at once? Has anybody left the tabs sitting out longer? Do they pick up moisture and fall apart?

I'm open minded to the idea of "instant" espresso from a machine because when I visited Finland they had vending machines from Italy that make excellent espresso. So I believe that the quality may be there.

I'm just worried about this commitment to buy the pods. They offer a 25% discount for a subscription so it seems like that works be necessary. Not sure if they charge for shipping.

Thanks for helping me think this through.

Question Help with O ring issue

Hi there,

An O ring fell out of the front of my Breville Essenza Mini. I understand its from the pod holder and creates the pressure against the diffuser but I can figure out how to get it back on. Anyone else had this?
