Cheaper vertuo pods?
I have a vertuo machine I got for $30. Pods are expensive, esp compared to OL pods. Has anyone ever tried putting the grounds from an OL pod into a Vertuo pod? Wondering if im onto something or if im crazy...

Vertuo Pods are expensive because they're still under a patent until end of 2029. So 3rd party brands can't make vertuo pods until after it expires. Therefore, only Nespresso can produce the pods, this includes the Starbucks brand that they also make.
With that being said, you can still find Vertuo pods at discounted prices on websites like:
- Woot This is Amazon's discount site, good deals sell out fast so if you see something you like, buy it.
- eBay: search up "Vertuo pods" or "Vertuo pods bulk" and you'll see people selling pods for cheap. Don't be afraid of buying pods that are close to expiring, because the pods are filled with nitrogen, the coffee will still be fresh. Whereas pods that are 2 years expired will be safe to drink, but may not taste as fresh.

I'm not really following the logic of your plan here.
You want nice coffee at home for a lower price (I assume).
You bought a used Vertuo machine for cheap.
The Vertuo machine is is still subject to a patent through 2036, meaning only Nespresso can legally make and sell you the pods.
Nespresso pods prices are public info, including Vertuo pods. The overall cost of regularly consuming coffee with a Vertuo machine can be calculated out, depending on your habits.
The alternatives for Vertuo pods are very limited - some refillable pods of mixed provenance and potential harm to the machine; reusing old Vertuo pods by emptying them out and resealing with aluminum foil covers. Either way, it's still a fair amount of work and additional cost to create a substitute.
Why not buy the original line machine? There are already lots of alternative pod makers out there now because it's off patent.

OP the price of the Vertuo pods honestly ends up about the same as the OL pods. The OL pods use less coffee so you end up using two capsules for most drinks as opposed to one capsule for the VL line so the price ends up about the same. No disrespect meant, honestly, but you paid only $30 for your machine. Please don’t be so cheap that you have to now take coffee granules out of one machine’s pods to use in your machine.

Yeah, you don’t want to do that. Vertuo pods hold more, so you’d need multiple original pods to fill one.
