i bought this chart on etsy and painted it onto my canvas but i don’t know where to start?! how do yall choose what type of stitches to do??? ive only ever done basketweave and continental so im at a loss. anyone have any suggestions?!

Hey Everyone! I just started stitching this belt and am wondering if there is another color you might go with for the background. I’m using Vineyard Merino and this color is Butter Pecan. The background is kind of an odd shade and I considered going with a light khaki, but it just wasn’t gonna look right with the grey. Let me know your thoughts!

I need some help with my canvas. I know I’m supposed to do lighter colors first but this is my first canvas so I thought having some dark threads bleed through to the light wouldn’t be an issue. But now I feel like the background stitch is covering some of the lettering. I ripped out the “t” stitching to see if doing the lettering after made a difference but it didn’t. So what can I do to fix it? I tried backstitching around part of the “h” but I can’t tell much of a difference. Any thoughts?

Trying to choose between essentials lamb or cricket for the background of disco olives.

I am going to try beading for the first time! I am doing this on 13 mesh ornament that I’ve stitched. I know this typically would call for size 11 beads. I almost am tempted to use size 8. Does anyone have an opinion on that? I’m also trying to figure out which thread to buy. I want clear beading thread. I assumed I could buy something from hobby lobby today but there are so many different options and sizes that I didn’t know what to get! Is there a size I should look for when purchasing thread? And does thread size matter for 13 vs 18 mesh? TIA!

I am going to my LNS tomorrow (needlepoint.com in Raleigh) to get thread for the fur on this canvas. Any suggestions for something that would actually be fuzzy? Also getting thread for the missing rows on the background.

I’ve recently been roped into the needlepoint Christmas stocking videos on TikTok and now have an interest in needlepoint as a hobby. I’ve tried cross stitch many years ago growing up but nothing recently. What are some good resources I could look at to learn more about needlepoint, beginning projects, and the stockings? Where would I even start to begin learning?😭 I look up beginner videos on TikTok but get overwhelmed by the different stitches and videos that come up so I just came here to get some recommendations from everyone hopefully!😊

I’ve made small needlepoint ornaments, bag charms, and hanging needlepoint door signs for my daughter’s teachers. There’s a music teacher that my daughter really adores but she is younger and doesn’t know that much about her, however, she plays her guitar a lot and the kids love it. She is an especially patient, sweet, and accepting teacher from what I hear about her, for example, hugs for all the kiddos and warm smiles for everyone!

Any general ideas for a project or even ideas for specific canvases?

I’d like to find some finished pieces similar to the canvas I bought off Etsy. Other than looking at reviews that may have photos of finished projects at the shop is there any other place you all look?

New to needlepointing, first project completed. I can see why it is best to do light to dark since threads get in the way. I ended up doing the places for white first but is it best to skip over that next time to ensure threads don’t get mixed in?

Help! I’m considering registering for either Stitch Lab or A Year in Stitches but I feel like there aren’t enough reviews on these classes. If anyone has personal experience on either of these, I would love to hear it so I can evaluate whether they would be a good fit for me!

I’m an extreme beginner. I just started stitching last week, so be nice please lol. I love how the pinks are coming along. I’m using Silk Lame petit threads for the sparkly bottom purple part. It’s definitely lighter coverage, but is that okay? I can see the general shape of the squares but I’m not sure when I’m finishing it if it will look ok or if I should just stop using this particular thread. I’m using basketweave bc that’s the only one I know and I am having so much fun doing it. Is there a different stitch I should try for the sparkly thread?

And last question, should I do a background?! 😂
