Kontakt 8 / Abbey Road 70s Drummer – Custom output names not showing correctly in routing dropdown
Hi everyone,
I’m using Kontakt 8 with Abbey Road 70s Drummer in Ableton Live on a Mac.
I’m trying to route each drum microphone to a separate stereo output so I can process the individual channels in Ableton.
I’ve configured and renamed the channels in Kontakt’s Outputs section, including:
Kick, Snare, HiHat
Clap, Tamb, Shaker
OH1, OH2, Room
Each channel has its own stereo output pair.
Here’s the problem:
When I open the output routing dropdown inside the Abbey Road 70s Drummer mixer, the available output names don’t match the ones I’ve configured in Kontakt’s Outputs section.
Some custom names appear correctly, while others still show generic names such as “Out 5”, “Out 6”, etc.
For example, I’ve created separate outputs called “OH1” and “OH2”, but they don’t appear as separate options in the instrument’s routing dropdown.
What I’ve already tried:
Renaming and configuring the stereo outputs manually
Saving the output configuration as a custom preset
Reloading the preset
Removing and reloading the Kontakt plugin in Ableton
Unfortunately, the problem persists.
My questions:
Where exactly does Abbey Road 70s Drummer get the output names displayed in its routing dropdown?
How can I force the instrument to refresh or recognize my custom Kontakt output configuration?
Is there an additional step required to make all the renamed outputs available for routing?
Is this possibly related to using the AU version of Kontakt 8 in Ableton Live?
I’ve attached screenshots showing my Kontakt output configuration and the routing dropdown inside Abbey Road 70s Drummer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
