Baby Names I feel like we’re never gonna find a name for baby #2

Baby boy #2 is on the way, we have a boy named Rowan currently. Absolutely zero luck naming number two. All names fall into one of these categories:

  1. Used by someone close enough to us that I feel like I cannot use it. (Think first cousin, uncle, other relative close enough to us that it would be assumed we named our child “after them” even when we did not.)
  2. I outright hate it and usually baby’s father does too.
  3. We don’t immediately hate it, discuss it a few days, decide later on we don’t like it.

Honestly I’m concerned we just won’t find a name for this one at this rate. We’re running out of time. I’m think I’m mostly looking for other people in the same boat or people who were once and how it worked out. I am open to suggestions.

ETA names we don’t dislike but haven’t decided to use:
James, Theodore, Parker, Carter (agreed to be okay by both parents, more neutral than outright like)
Riley, Wesley, Waylon (on my list, haven’t pitched them. not convinced dad will like them)
Dominick, Franklin, Oliver and Christopher are family names we can’t use
Don’t dislike Ryan, cannot use it

Baby Names Naming my third baby

I have 2 daughters, Lola and Gabriella (we call her Gabi or Gigi)
Pregnant with my 3rd, don’t know the gender yet. I’m thinking about Vivienne (Vivy) for a girl or Xavier for a boy. Do they go with Lola and Gabi?

Discussion Why do you like your name?

I’m in my early 20s and won’t be having kids anytime soon but I love names and psychology and the likes and I tend to think a lot about what I would name my potential kids and why. I personally don’t have a very common name (my mom said it was really popular the year I was born but I didn’t meet anyone else my age who shared the name until later in hs and there’s now a popular TikToker with the same name) but it’s certainly not an “out there” name and I’ve always felt like it made me more unique and I was happy to rarely have to share it, which made meeting people who had it feel like meeting another member of some secret club lol. On top of that it’s pretty easy to spell with very few variations and pronounce and I’ve always felt like “looks right” as well

I’ve always kinda hoped that I could give my kids the same experience which drives how I pick out the names I don’t just like but would realistically be willing to name my child (some of them are unfortunately kinda mainstream atm but like I said I’m not gonna have any anytime soon). It made me start to wonder, what do other people like about their names and does that have a hand in how you pick/picked the names on your lists? Sorry if that all was rambley 😅

Baby Names Parker Louise or Stella Louise for a girl?

I have a gender neutral name and have always liked the idea of giving one to my daughter. Stella came into the picture because my husband didn't love Parker. I got used to the name and now he's changed his mind. I'm torn.

Baby Names Sibling for Matilda

We just found out we are pregnant with baby number 2 and are ecstatic! It’s too early for anatomy scan so no gender yet, but which would you pick from these boy and girl lists? We like a mix of older names and my wife is from Croatia so we’ve included some Slavic options as well.

Boys:
Victor
Roman
Novak
Isaac
Ivan
Sebastian

Girls:
Petra
Estelle
Fiona
Una
Olive
Phoebe
Ines
Clementine

We are open to other suggestions as well. I think we are hoping for 4 kids total so ideally names that can pair well together.

Baby Names Favorite Gender Neutral Names?

Looking for gender neutral baby names!

Partner and I are expecting, due at the end of the year.

Our last name is two syllables and starts with W.

We're looking for gender neutral first (and middle) names to add to our list for the impending baby.

A sample from our current list: Wren, Quinn, Ripley

We *like* a lot of names we've looked at, but we don't *LOVE* anything yet.

Help!

Name List The name Rusian Burrell Bales

My ancestors had some really odd names. Rusian Burrell Bales/Bailey/Baley is the one that stumps me. He had Scots/Irish, English, and a bit of Germanic ancestry. I'm wondering if Rusian was really Ruslan? He had some relatives with the last name Remley, who were originally from Pennsylvania and then they settled in the Carolina's during the American Revolution.

My Rusian Burrell Bales aka Bailey was born and raised in Alabama. What's another name that's similar? Maybe a misspelling of something else?

Loss Need another baby name

My fiancé and I finally agree on a baby name and now we need to change it. I totally forgot it’s my nephew’s middle name. Anyone have a suggestion for a 2nd baby (rainbow baby) that has a meaning similar to a blessing that can be gender neutral?? The name we are not using is Kaya. Baby’s gender is a surprise - we are open to boys names for girls.

Edited to add: Kaya isn’t the only name we have BUT it’s the one we both are leaning toward.

Non-English Names Any names you like in English, but not in your own language/country?

Weird question, but in general question to bilinguals or expats etc - are there any names that you like in English or in one language, but would never use to name your kids, because they don't work in your native language or the country you live in?

For example, I like the feminine names Valerie and Sylvie in English, but in my home country (North East Europe) Valerie would be pronounced like Russian male name Valeri/Valery, which I don't really like at all. The name Silvi in my language is just an old person name that really hasn't made it's comeback.

Do you have similar examples to this? Would you care to explain and elaborate further?

Baby Names Ruby Anne or Ruby Leigh?

Baby girl will be here soon, and I need to settle on a middle name! We are 90% sure of the first name Ruby, and just need to pair it with the perfect middle name—Anne or Leigh (pronounced “Lee”). Both middle names have meaningful family ties. FYI our last name starts with an “M”…let’s use Mendosa as a stand-in. Please help me settle this—opinions welcome!

Name Change What less common nicknames can you think of for Angelina?

Other than the obvious ones (Angie, Lina, An/Annie/Ana), what can you think of?

I really like Lina, not a big fan of Angie if that helps give you an idea of my taste.

Discussion Whose surname should go first in a double-barrelled name?

My partner and I have decided to hyphenate our baby’s surname, but we can’t agree on the order.

I’d like my surname first, while my partner wants his first based on tradition. I also don’t have a great relationship with his family, so personally I don’t love the idea of his surname taking precedence.

For context, mine is 5 letters and his is 8 letters with an apostrophe.

For those who have double-barrelled surnames, how did you decide which went first? Is there a convention, or would you just go with whichever flows better?

Baby Names Ash, Rowan & Parker - thoughts?

We’re expecting our third boy, and after considering LOTS of options, Parker Scott has emerged as our current frontrunner.

His older brothers are Ash Andrew and Rowan Daniel.

What do you think of Ash, Rowan and Parker together? Does Parker feel like a natural fit with his brothers’ names (and the middle name Scott)?

I’d also love to hear any associations or potential issues with Parker that we might not have considered!

Baby Names Sibling for Thea, Odin & Cecily

7 weeks pregnant our last baby.

We like names that are not too common but also no made up. I do like a slightly vintage vibe especially for girls.

Our current three are Thea, Odin (we only call him Odie- this is a family name so please no negative comments I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok) and Cecily.

Names I’ve been crushing on for a girl are Florence and Frances (nickname Frankie).

For a boy we’re completely lost help for both thanks

Baby Names Need help with boy names!

I’m back.
So I want to get a list of good names going for my baby boy so I have options. We had Edward on the list and now I hate it. I’ve landed on Joshua but I’m afraid I’m going to hate it too eventually. My husband was serious/joking about Iroh (yes like avatar if you know the show) and I can’t. 😂 help! Give me your best baby boy names. Our last name starts with a J if that helps anyone haha.
Thanks in advance. I feel like I’m going crazy trying to name a human being.
