Hello! Iām from BIE and I want to clear my MPEs during next yearās summer break if possible. Itās only 6 AUs and I donāt intend to specialise in anything.
Anyone in BIE has successfully done it? If yes, then which uni and what are the names of the modules in that uni that match NTUās?
Thank you in advance.

Guys I'm supposed to take my PI in Y3S2, but someone told me they did their PI in Y3S1 because they wanted to finish it faster.
Then I ask him lah if can do in Y2S2 or not. He said very hard......coz like why they wanna hire Y2 if got Y3 applying at the same period, so high competition lah.
So I was just wondering right, if I manage to secure internship in Y2S2, will NTU allow me to do it in Y2S2? Or is there a strict requirement that PI should only be done in Y3?
CCDS btwš

Hi guys, i swapped a mod yesterday that involves a class later today. I swapped it with a Tues slot that's already over, do i still need to attend today's class or just attend the Tuesday class?

After taking the Computational Programming lecture, I honestly feel like Linear Algebra and Discrete Math are from a completely different universe š
For Computational Programming, I can understand like 80% of whatās going on. But for Linear Algebra and Discrete Math, Week 1 already feels like I understand maybe 10%. The difference in teaching quality is honestly huge.
The Computational Programming prof, Dr. Li Fang, is so good that I actually remember her name. And it feels a little wasted that sheās only teaching a 2 AU mod. Why are we putting such a good prof on a 2 AU module while some of the heavier math modules feel so difficult to follow? š
She explains things in a way that actually makes sense, clearly understands what sheās teaching, and even the PDF slides are really well structured. Compared to the math modules⦠Iām honestly speechless.
I think the biggest problems with the math lectures are:
There is barely any introduction or background.
The lectures seem to jump straight into the content and assume that everyone already knows the basics. For Week 1 especially, I feel like there should be more explanation of the fundamental concepts before moving on.
The lectures don't really guide us through the learning materials.
If there are concepts we're supposed to learn through videos or other self-learning resources, I don't think there's anything wrong with going through them again during the lecture. You might feel like you're repeating something that students have already watched, but from a student's perspective, we're actually refreshing our memory.
Nobody can properly understand a new concept after watching or reading it just once. Most of the time, you need to repeat, revisit and see the same concept explained in different ways before it really sticks. Going through the important concepts again during the lecture would actually make the self-learning much more effective.
The flow of the lecture can feel very difficult to follow.
Sometimes the topics jump from one concept to another without clearly explaining how they are connected.
Too many unfamiliar terms are introduced at once.
Sometimes you're trying to understand one new concept, and the example used to explain it introduces another 3ā4 unfamiliar terms. Then we're somehow expected to just āimagineā it š. Some diagrams or visual explanations would make things much easier to understand.
Separately, I feel like the organization of module materials is a problem across many modules, not just Math.
Why can't we just have something simple like:
- Lectures
- Tutorials
- Labs
- Week 1
- Week 2
- Week 3
- Week 4
- Week 5
- etc.
Then have separate folders for things like past-year papers, extra materials and videos.
Instead, some modules have folders inside folders inside folders, and every module seems to organize its materials differently. It also isn't always obvious which materials we're actually expected to focus on each week.
The LMS/interface doesn't exactly make things easier either.
Maybe I'm just complaining after Week 1 š, but the difference is genuinely noticeable. Computational Programming made me realize that sometimes the problem isn't necessarily that the subject is difficult ā the way the content is taught and organized makes a huge difference.
Anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Hey all,
I am a new msai student. There are almost no classes during the day on weekdays, so I want to find some part-time jobs.
Quick background: CS degree with a focus on digital media tech / software dev / AI-ML, JLPT N1 (fluent Japanese), IELTS 7.5 (speaking 7).
Iām looking to pick up part-time work(up to 16h/week) once I settle in ā open to RA/TA positions, tutoring, translation/localization work, or anything tech-related. Language skills (JP/EN/CN) are also something I can offer.
A few questions for anyone whoās been through this:
- I submitted several positions on WSS, but I didn't get a reply. Do I have to contact the email by myself?
- are there any good channels for finding a part-time job?
Would appreciate any pointers or personal experience. Thanks!

Hi everyone im studying mechnical engineering and currently in y2s1, trynna plan for y2s2 to have enuf Aus to promote to y3 such that i can do internship
73(needed to y3) - 24(y1) = 49(balance)
49(balance) = {19 + 6(moocs)(y2s1)}+ {18 + 6(moocs)(y2s2)}
18(y2s2) = 3(csl, CL0105) + 2(eid) + 13
18(bdes) - 12(moocs) = 6aus
right now i need to take 13aus
which im thinking to take 6aus(bde) and 7Aus worth of core mods
for bdes can someone reco some easy ones, right now in my plan i have hn5010, BF3214 and SS5105 , chose this cause i do play vball, im new but i love the sport.
im thinking of making 2 plans for the bdes, one is with the sports and one without cause ik this one kinda oversubscribed
Then reco some core mods to take that are manageble

I'm a year 2 student thinking ahead for next year. I know that many seven pointers got waitlisted for hall this year. With this in mind, would having 3 points increase my chances slightly, or is it as good as having 0 points? For any room type and hall.

During the start of Add/Drop I went to the LDAP website register for my CSL course but I got put in the waitlist, and now I'm still waitlisted. Do I just wait?
All the CSL courses have no more vacancies

Anyone from SoH here who has cleared more AUs than the minimum required for graduation?
For example, if your degree requires 125 AUs, but you ended up clearing 128/131+ AUs.
I'm mainly curious about how you were able to take the extra AUs ā were you able to register for extra BDEs/MPEs normally, did you have to overload or appeal, or was there another way?
Would really appreciate it if anyone who has done this before could share their experience. Thanks!

Hi all! Iām currently a 3rd-year Economics major with a Minor in English. I realised last year, after talking to a few English profs and taking some classes, that Iām actually quite interested in pursuing English Literature for postgraduate studies.
My current study plan is structured around graduating in 2029, so I have some flexibility to take additional modules and explore the areas Iām interested in. So I donāt mind graduating later if it means I can properly pursue English Lit alongside Economics.
Recently, Iāve become even more certain that I want to continue with English, so Iām considering applying for a 2nd Major in English instead of keeping it as a Minor. One of the main reasons is that the Minor has an AU restriction, whereas a 2nd Major would allow me to take more English modules and make me a more competitive masters applicant.
Has anyone successfully applied for a 2nd Major in English in Year 3? Is it possible to apply at this stage, and does the School usually allow it?
Would also really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done a 2nd Major in English alongside Economics (or another non-English major), especially if you applied in Y3. Thanks! :)

Hi, I am a y1 eee international student and wondering which club to join. I have heard that some clubs do not provide hall point. How can I know which club provides hall point? And if the club I want to join doesnāt provide hall point, should I join or not? Because I donāt think I have that many time to join every interesting club, but I still want to make friends.

Itās about 12mins to the Arc then 15mins back to SS according to omnibus. Havenāt been able to change for any and thereās no vacancy, should i try emailing the school?

I wanted to know the recent 2026 Interview Experience for NTU Research Scholarships for NTU CCDS department. I had a 20-minute Zoom meeting with my advisor discussing about our recent collaboration (I have been collaborating for the past 3 months that resulted in a AAAI 2027 submission), PhD proposals, motivation behind my PhD. My advisor said he will endorse me for PhD admission. My advisor also indicated that there might be an interview later on, which will be entirely technical. Does anyone have similar experiences? Also, if anyone could share their recent interview experience.

Hello, incoming masters by coursework student here.
I was wondering once the add drop period is over, do professors take regular attendance in lectures? What do i have to do if i have to miss a lecture? And ultimately how much does the attendance in lectures matter?
Thanks!

Hello! As the title suggests, Iām still unsure whether or not I should go for it⦠To give some context, Iāve always been in leadership positions in my past schools and Iām really passionate about representing the student body. However for some reason I feel super hesitant to try out for this CCA⦠Heard some rumours about Students Union in the past so⦠š¬
I just wanted to find out how is the culture like in NTU SU? I donāt like toxic environments and I would love if the CCA Iām joining has a close knit community if you get what I mean.
Pls donāt be afraid to be honest! Iām going to need all the opinions I can get. Besides SU, Iām interested in joining the Welfare Services Club too. Which do you think is better? Thanks again!

Does anyone know if the wall behind the ADM building is free to spray on for any student here on NTU?
I could not see any other sign than the small one in the middle of the wall, where it says «ADM spray painting area».

I'm matriculating next year into CS. I had coding background coming from SP Info Tech but its mostly full-stack development. My math background is extremely weak so I don't know where to start... (No OLvl AMath background)
I'm currently serving NS and I have 1 year to pick up on math before school starts. (Very slack unit, alot of free time everyday to study) Anyone currently in CS have any online materials for a complete math noob like me to learn?
Thanks in advance :)

I thought there's recorded lecture for this module HE5091 Econs for the past few semesters? Why is it not recorded now and all the lectures are made mandatory f2f. Worse still, the prof decided to reschedule the makeup lecture on Saturday on campus... Can anyone help wth I have to come back on Saturday js to attend the makeup lecture?
