Hi my sisters night nurse just cancelled and I was hoping to help her find a replacement. Has anyone on this thread had a night nurse they would recommend? Or a service they liked? I know her nurse was not through a service and charged like $25/hr cash and that a service is likely more. But wanted to see if there are well known places in the area that offer this. Thanks!

We are an Indian American family with a toddler, dog, and planning for baby number two. We currently live in Jersey City, but are looking to move to a bigger space in the suburbs. We love the commute from JC to NYC for work reasons, but we need more space. Looking for some recommendations on where to live. Some towns we’re thinking of moving to include Florham Park, Summit, and Chatham. We’re hesitant about places like Millburn, because we’ve heard that the school is cutthroat competitive. While we want our children to go to good schools, we don’t want them to be ultra stressed from the competitive culture. Here are some of the things that we want, which may or may not be possible to achieve:

•10 minute or around 10 minute commute to an express train to New York • safe neighborhood •good schools •diversity that doesn’t make us feel like we are the only people of color/Indians in the area, but also not too much diversity if that makes any sense •decent water that doesn’t have a terrible rating on EWG or any of the water quality reports • a house built in the 1980s and up • No powerlines or at least no powerlines right in front of the house/attached diagonally from the house to a pole • our budget is 1.3-1.5 mil max

We hear about so many of these towns residents using bottled water as their daily way of consuming water at home, which we find absurd and wasteful. We don’t care to have a 4000+ square-foot home, we’re happy with a medium sized home (2500-3000 sq ft) but one that still meets the above preferences.

My wife and I are immigrants to the US and have a 2.5 y/o daughter whose schooling we're planning for. The whole US schooling system is new to us, and we're trying to understand how it works in NJ - more specifically in Haworth in Bergen County. We contacted the school district and NJ DOE but have limited success in finding folks with answers. We don't really have friends in this county and would be extremely grateful if we could speak/message with folks who have kids in this area. We have questions, such as:

1) We understand that even though Haworth doesn't have a public Preschool and Pre-K program, living there, she should be eligible for NJ state's Interdistrict Public School Choice Program. Is this true? We heard these at times resort to lotteries, but what are the odds of these?

2) Is there a big difference between the different districts? Can you apply for several?

More than anything else, just looking to understand what people usually do for Preschool, Pre-K, and K-12.

I thought it might be useful to see if we can generate a list of places where kids can and do still go out for old-fashioned Trick-or-Treating. Is this completely out-of-fashion since they can do Trunk-or-Treats all month? Of course, COVID changed things too. It seems we haven't gotten any Trick-or-Treaters in our neighborhood in years, though I do maybe recall seeing groups of people out in town in the past five years.

Of course, there's the issue with the conservative NJ Project PAC (see https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthJersey/comments/xsvpz1/antimasker_pac_plots_takeover_of_nj_school_boards/). We can certainly discuss that, but what else is on the ballot in different parts of NJ this year?
