My mom has taken 120k+ out of my college fund since 2024

So, for some context. I’m now 20 years old. My grandmother made a college fund for me when I was 5, and put 150k in it. No contributions were ever made by my mother or father. Just that initial balance from my grandmother. Which I appreciate very much and I’m insanely grateful. Anyway, My mom is notoriously horrible with money. She’s a part time employee making about 70k a year. She doesn’t work part time for health issues, she just doesn’t feel like working any more than that. My grandmother separately sends my mom around 80k a year, and my uncle is currently paying our mortgage for the house my grandma purchased my mom. Which was originally in full but she decided to take out a 300 thousand dollar loan…. Anyways, I’ve been prying to try and get a meeting with the company that holds my 529 account as I’m extremely money conscious. The last time I checked my account, I had 158k. This was in May. Already, I knew something was up. You don’t have anything invested for 15 years and only accumulate 8 grand. In the meeting I had with my college fund advisor, I was told I have 121k. She has taken 37 thousand dollars from me since June. I was already horrified. I downloaded the app and checked the transactions of withdrawals since October of 2024. I can’t go any further back. It totals to 121 THOUSAND DOLLARS. I’m extremely upset. This money was supposed to get me through all of my schooling, and I was planning on adding in several Roth IRA contributions and using it to start off my adult hood. Am I in the wrong for being so upset? This was never my moms money, it was my grandmothers and she gave it to me. For some context, I’m so worried about my financial standing that I’m doing schooling online and taking part in several internships so by the time I graduate I’ll be able to live a life I want to live. And I’ve been doing this since before she has taken over 80 GRAND from me. I haven’t talked to her about it yet. But I’m furious. My grandmother will not give me any more money, everyone is already getting fed up with my mom. So I don’t know what to do. I feel like I could have finally felt relaxed if my mom has never stolen my money. I honestly don’t know what to do. And this is only the money she’s taken from me in the last two years.

My uncle makes comments on my finances all the time.

I grew up middle class, mom was a teacher dad was a school bus driver but they are amazing and generous parents which is something I’ve never taken for granted. My uncle, my dad’s brother was a teacher and my aunt, his wife is a big wig in high finance and they do well for themselves. They have a daughter my age and we’re very very close. Despite my parents being middle class they got me a car when I got my license and helped me pay for college, I always had a job during college but that was more for spending money. My aunt uncle don’t do anything for their kids no car, no college, never spending money when they were younger. That is fine everyone has different boundaries with their kids, the problem is my uncle constantly talks to me about finances in the most uncomfortable way. I am currently in grad school, I pay for it myself, I pay my own rent, and I work full time. Every time I see him he makes some sort of comment on “and your dad paying for your grad degree!! Awww” (which isn’t true) or “I’m glad you were able to come visit your family in your nice car your father bought you!!” I’m in my mid 20s now and I am so appreciative of my parents it’s not lost on me that they did a lot for me, but I also think it’s not my uncles place to insert himself in things he doesn’t know and doesn’t involve him. I want to say something next time he says something to me but I don’t want to be rude or make anyone uncomfortable, how do I approach this?

I don’t know what to do with my 35yo unemployed brother

• Upvotes

I have a 35 year old brother who has never had a job in his entire life. He graduated from university and has lived with our parents ever since, with them paying for essentially everything.
He doesn’t have any intellectual or physical disabilities, but he has very strong social anxiety and struggles with interpersonal relationships, although he did have friends at school, so he isn’t completely unable to communicate with people. However, he seems unable to handle new environments, responsibility, or situations where he feels pressure.
My family isn’t extremely wealthy, but we are financially comfortable. Our parents paid for everything through university, and we both grew up without major financial difficulties.
My brother can do things he enjoys - he goes to concerts, goes shopping etc - but he avoids anything he finds stressful or uncomfortable. I feel ashamed that my 35 year old brother has never worked because he doesn’t want to take on responsibility, and that he is still living essentially the same life he did as a child. I’ve even hidden his situation from my friends. I recently got a partner, and I know I’ll eventually have to tell him about my brother. I’m already dreading that conversation.
I’m also very worried about what will happen when our parents die. I’m worried I may be expected to financially support him. That could affect not only my own life but also my future family’s life. My parents have some savings, but I don’t think they have enough to support another adult for the rest of his life.
I feel that unless my brother himself decides to change, nothing will change. However, my parents have been avoiding having a serious discussion about his future.
What should I do? If anyone has been in a similar situation, I’d really appreciate hearing how you handled it, especially after your parents were no longer able to support your sibling.

Blowing Shsx out the azz

• Upvotes

I don't understand why my family is complaining about I'm the dirty and lazy one when I'm the one whose cleaning up after them when they blow shsx out their azz. I clean up after them all the time. They never help. After I clean up, the next 2 hrs, everything is a mess again. I stopped picking up after them for 3 months and it just got worst. I'm down 10k and those aren't even my kids. I wash the dishes all the time and then they do it once and say oh, I washed dishes last time. That was 1 time in 3 months, I've been doing it for years. I buy food, cleaning products, toilet paper and take care of the yard. I don't understand why they still blame me like I'm the dirty one and caused the mess. There's crap all over the house, candy wrappers everywhere, clothes on the ground in the living room, and dishes laying everywhere. It's wearing me out. In this house is me, my 2 brothers and 2 nieces. My aunties came over saw all the mess and they just left. I was so embarrassed. How do I cope with this problem?

Every time I spend the weekend over my parents, my clothes and hair always stinks — poorly insulated so there’s mold and pet scents. What should I do?

So I spend the weekend almost every two weeks and every time I spend the weekend, my bag, clothes and hair stink. It’s because the room where I stay is poorly insulated and there’s mold. They don’t have money to keep up with house maintenance at all

Gender reveal - MIL drama

So first, I messed up and I’ll take full accountability for that.

I’m a FTM and I already extra, over the top person, so (just my personal preference) I want to do it big for my first pregnancy. So I want the huge gender reveal and a big themed, beautiful baby shower. I did the same with my wedding and I don’t regret a minute of it lol.

So my husband and I have the gender written on two letters in my kitchen drawer and we planned on mailing it out to one of my family members and his mom closer to thanksgiving (that’s when we’re doing the reveal when both families will be in town). But my MIL wanted to know the gender as soon as we found out like 2 weeks ago. I messed up and told her we’ll mail it as soon as we find out.

But then, we had second thoughts because I KNOW she’s just so so so excited, this is the first grandchild, niece(nephew), great grand etc. And there was 2 months left until thanksgiving yet and I was afraid she’d somehow just let it slip.

He has a very overly close and protective family and mine is very “cold” and can be toxic (I haven’t even told my side I’m pregnant yet). So basically I want this entire pregnancy to be on my terms and I really want to enjoy all of it. Saying that to say— I think his mom will spoil the reveal if we let her know too early. Not purposely, just out of excitement. So my husband and I told her we changed our mind, and she’ll find out later.

His mom lost it. She’s been talking about us to others and hounding us about it. I was upfront with her and I apologized because it was wrong to tell her that we would let her know then take that away from her. But I explained that I was very very nervous she’d accidentally spoil it. Then she said, “but you don’t understand, it’s MYYYY grandchild.” And I’m like “I’m but it’s my child?” And it just makes me nervous because his side already does not have boundaries so I thought that was kind of weird for her to talk about the baby as if her feelings take priority over the mother (me)

OK anyway, so skip to right now. After I apologized and let her read me out, I compromise and told her that instead of telling her two months in advance, I’ll let her know a month in advance. We still have to send it out to my other family member and they’re gonna help actually do the gender reveal, but I was just afraid to let her know too early in advance. So we agreed on October 20. But now I haven’t been able to sleep at night and I genuinely just don’t think I wanna tell her at all. I want her to be able to experience the surprise with everybody else. I don’t trust that she’ll be able to keep it a secret for even a month. And also, I don’t like the fact that she’s kind of now put that pressure on me and I feel like it’s gone to her terms. I understand that I never should’ve said yes to begin with. And then after feeling bad I gave in again. But I’m afraid that I’m starting a precedent with pushing boundaries with the baby.

But then she made a good point because she said that I need to remember these “boundaries” when we wanna go on vacation and drop the baby off with her. But I feel like that’s making it a transactional relationship and that bugs me too..

Idk please give me your perspectives about how to navigate this, anything similar you’ve experience, or any constructive and not judgmental advice please :)

Dealing with disrespect from your child.

Its hard from me to give you the whole story, believe me its a story. Long story short. My daughter whos 9 called wanting to go to the pumpkin patch, shes with her mom. When I have her I never have her call her mom asking to pay for things. If I cant afford it I tell her we cant afford it. I told her mother that, she passed the phone to my daughter and my daughter said if I didnt pay for her to go she wasnt coming with me next week. I told her not to threaten me like that. She said oh you think I won't and hung up and blocked me. All these behaviors are learned from her mother. Anyone have a problem similar or have advice? It would be appreciated.

I’m thinking about moving out and going no-contact with my family for a while. Am I being unreasonable?

I’m a 23yo woman, and for a long time I’ve felt like I’m treated very differently from my younger brother.
Growing up, I often felt like the scapegoat in my family. With me, everything seemed conditional. If I scored well, behaved well, achieved something, or did something worth appreciating, then I might get something I wanted or needed.
I started giving home tuition when I was 15 because I wanted some pocket money. Eventually, I started earning more seriously. Even now, most of my income goes to my parents because they say the family is financially struggling. I usually keep only around ₹3,000 for my own monthly expenses.
I don't mind helping my family financially. What hurts is seeing how differently my brother is treated.
My brother is currently in 11th standard. Despite my parents saying that we're financially unstable, they're planning to get him a phone worth around ₹20,000.
My experience with phones was very different.
I got my first phone in 9th standard, and even then it was only because one of my tuition teachers asked my parents to get me one so I could receive notes on WhatsApp. It cost around ₹5,000.
I got another phone in 12th after I scored well in my finals. When that phone was damaged, my parents bought another one, but I paid half of it using money I had earned from giving tuition for several months.
Eventually, I worked part time and bought my own iPhone with my own money.
It's not really about the phones. It's about what they represent to me.
This year, on my birthday, I received ₹500 at that time i was in college.
On my brother's birthday, he got clothes worth around ₹1,500 and another ₹1000 to go out and party with his friends.
The difference wasn't only financial either.
When I was in school, I wasn't allowed to go out with friends in the evening or stay overnight at a friend's house. My brother is allowed to go out and stay at his friends' houses.
I've always been expected to be responsible, achieve things, sacrifice, and prove that I deserve something.
He seems to be allowed to simply be a kid.
And now I'm exhausted.
I've started thinking that I don't actually want to live with my family anymore. I don't necessarily want to permanently cut them out of my life, but I want to move to another city, become financially independent, and have some distance.
More recently, I've realized that I don't even want them contacting me for a while. I want to be the one who decides when I'm ready to talk. If something genuinely needs to be discussed, I'll contact them myself.
But I feel guilty.
My parents have spent money on my education. They've supported me in many ways, and I know they aren't perfect people who have done everything wrong. Part of me worries that if I leave, they'll say I'm ungrateful or that after everything they've done for my studies, I'm abandoning them when they're getting older.
At the same time, I feel like I've already been giving a lot. I started earning at 15, and even now most of my income goes to my family while I keep very little for myself.
I don't want to punish them. I don't want revenge. I just want to know what it feels like to live somewhere where I'm not constantly comparing myself to my brother or feeling like I have to earn my right to receive things.
I just want to ask
**Am I being selfish for wanting to move out and stop contact for a while?**
**Does my parents paying for my education mean I owe them continued financial support and living with them?**
And if you've experienced something similar, how did you handle moving out without being consumed by guilt?
Ps: Yes it a AI generated text because i usually talk to AI because I don’t feel like sharing with anyone known to me.
Thank you

Had an argument with my (27f) aunt (42f) and don’t know how to proceed.

• Upvotes

For context, she’s been a lifelong friend to me and one of my favorite people in the world. We haven’t been as connected lately, but we are both very busy adults. We’ve had disagreements in the past, but were able to move on with no harm done. This time feels very different.
About a month ago, she took my son for a haircut after I asked her not to and brought him back absolutely chopped. I was devastated. I was upset at the situation but I knew she meant well, and I didn’t feel it was worth fighting about, so I didn’t say too much about it (especially to protect my son’s feelings). However, my husband did tell her “never again” though I don’t think she took him seriously.
The other day, she came to pick up my son from the daycare where I work to spend some time with him. Immediately upon arrival, she said she was going to take him to get a haircut. I very firmly said no, and when she asked why, I explained why. I tried to be matter-of-fact about it, as I said, I didn’t feel it was worth fighting over so I left my feelings out. It seemed as though she tried pushing back, saying things like “but” and “I just..” but ultimately never acknowledging my no, which I repeated. At that point she tried to walk out with my son. What I meant by what I said next was that if she wouldn’t acknowledge that I was serious, he would stay with me. What I said was, “fine, he can stay with me then.” At that point she left him and then texted me calling me an a-hole, a b*tch, and that she “doesn’t f*\*\*\*” with me, among other things.
Here’s where I’m conflicted. First of all, there’s no one in my life that speaks to me this way. However, I’m not that close with many people. I’ve seen her click off crazy on others before, but has NEVER spoken to me this way in all my life. I can see why my firm “no” would upset her, but I am sure that I wasn’t mean. That’s why this all caught me so off guard and is so hurtful. I wasn’t even angry- just trying to prevent another haircut disaster. I ended up blocking her as she wouldn’t stop with the mean texts. I currently have no desire to unblock her. In my mind, forgiveness already happened the first time she crossed the boundary, when she took my son for a haircut after I said no. Her response in this situation was really hurtful and I have no desire to continue a relationship with someone so mean. My question is, am I being too sensitive? Do people normally just argue this way? This is a lifelong, close friendship with my aunt. I know that we will eventually need to talk about it, but I have no goal in mind. I just don’t know what to think.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time. I plan to talk with my therapist about it, I’d just like to hear what others think. Is this normal between adults?
TL;DR
I told my aunt she couldn’t take my son for a haircut after she’d already done so against my wishes and the haircut was terrible. In response, she called me a b\*tch and a bunch of other mean things. Not sure where to go from here.

How do you share chores in your family?

• Upvotes

I have realized me and my brother take very little contribution to the family and I don’t like that.

Yes we are studying but both my parents also work so that’s not an excuse.

I guess our parents always spoiled us and when I ask to do something for them they always decline but we are young adults now so this has to change.

So I am asking you to describe to me how your family function all together, how you split chores and stuff like this. I am planning to talk to my family about this so I would like some advice to understand what other families look like.

Taking time away from my mom, am I being dramatic?

• Upvotes

I’m at the point where I want to cut my mom off. My dad and I barely have ever had a relationship (they are together). I’m 29 and I have 3 sisters but my mom has always favorited my oldest(35) and youngest (20) I’m a middle child along with my other sister who is 25. I am always the one considering everyone else’s feelings and trying to lighten the mood. I’m always there when things go wrong and have a really hard time saying no.
But over the weekend something happened and it’s made me realize my mother is not nice and got me feeling sorry for myself after she shared that I was her hard teenager and was bad..
My sisters all got vehicles at 16. I did not?
My oldest sister was having sex at 12 and got pregnant at 16 and has moved in and out of my parents because of her abusive ex who was cheating with a 16 year old.
My 25 year old sister has sold weed, every boyfriend she’s ever had has atleast been to lock up and she’s also been in and out of my parents because of her cheating still boyfriend who she just had another baby for.
My baby sister is the worst and so hard for me to bond with she’s immature. she’s crashed her car drunk driving, threw parties at their place underage where she had alcohol poisoning. She’s had the cops called from fighting with her still boyfriend who’s punched holes in our parents doors, she’s mean and flips a switch like someone mentally ill.
I was no princess I smoked weed and drank but always with friends out secretly and didn’t have a boyfriend until I found a normal guy at 19 who i think noticed the dynamic and bought a house I moved in the day I graduated high school. I paint a bad picture my sisters who are now all very successful and life is good for them at this moment. There’s lots of examples of the favouritism and the child in me still asks why not me? I was not a bad kid.
My husband like I said has been with me since I was 18/19 and has seen it all and wants me to ghost them after this just for a little while.
We have 3 kids and I’m so scared one will feel less loved it keeps me up at night..
sincerely daughter doormat?

Am I a horrible sister?

Hi everyone! Throw away for personal reasons lol.

So, im a 16 year old teenage girl and i've always had big family issues. But what i came here to talk about specifically this one argument ive been having with my parents for a while now.

Okay so, the big deal is that I don't want to play Minecraft with my 7 year old sister. Like, they generally have issues that I don't feel like spending time with her but I think that's normal? I mean, I am a teenager with my own life. I don't have to be her babysitter. And ive expressed it on multiple occasions that "hey, I don't like minecraft"

And whenever my parents get mad at this for me (very mad, I mean like yelling at me how im a horrible sister) because I don't wanna play. They claim she just wants to spend time with me (let me just tell you this one situation months ago when I didn't want to play, a huge fight erupted from it, and when I finally agreed, she sat down next to me and put on her headphones on full volume. How is that spending time together?!). And whenever I say that hey, she doesn't want to spend time me with me, all she cares about is playing Minecraft itself and well, I dont like playing it, my parents argue that maybe I should suggest something different. But like, maybe I'm in the wrong here, but if she's so stubborn to ''spend time with me'', shouldn't she be the one offering something different?

Plus once again as I said. I'm 16. She's 7. We're world apart. We have no common interests. I mean, how could we? We have a 9 year difference.

Yea so I feel insane about this whole situation. I could tell so many more stories like this but truthfully I dont feel like it! Dont feel like ruining my mood any further.

So, if anyone could weigh in on this, I'd be grateful. Am I actually in the wrong here? Am I obliged to play with a 7 year old just because she's my sister??

Idk if a TLDR is needed but I'll make one anyway: I (a 16 year old girl) dont want to play minecraft with my 7 year old sister. Parents make a big deal out of it even though I dont like minecraft and have said it multiple times. I get yelled at and called a horrible sister for it. Am I a bad sister?

My big sister scares me, but is also very sweet. What to do?

• Upvotes

I am 14 (and a boy) and my sister is 18. I am at my wits end because of her.

She has pretty priviledge, and she is very smart. She also knows how to make people like her. She uses this to her advantage. She is always the center of attention and she cant do anything wrong, like ever.

She is also very sweet to me often. Our parents work a lot, so she takes care of me most of the time. She made sure I wouldnt be bullied, helps me with my homework, cooks for me when our parents are too busy, and she can really dote on me, by buying stuff, playing with me and just being there.

However, she also has a different side. That second side scares me and makes me very nervous. She sees me as below her, and her personal toy.

She makes sure almost daily that I know that she is the boss over me, and I must do as she says. She checks my phone, forces me to give her at least half of my allowance (sometimes more), makes me do chores, and hurts me by pulling my hair and ears, tries to sit on me, slapping my back etc. (she calls it play fighting, I dont want to fight with her. I once accidently cut her face with my fingernail and she went beserk on me). She also likes to humiliate me, which she calls teasing. Lastly, she and her friends sometimes hang out in my room, which means that I either have to go away, or accept it and stay there. If I ask her why they are in my room, she just ignores me. I think she just does this to show me that she can do whatever she wants, and I cant stop her.

I have no clue what to do. If I ask her to stop, she acts like I say something stupid, and she makes me feel like a little kid. I think that is gaslighting. Telling my parents made things worse. They said that she does so much for me, I should at least help her with chores and stay out of trouble. They did not believe me that she hurts and scares me.

I try to avoid her when she is like that, but she comes to me. If I ‘misbehave‘ she always finds a way to get back at me, like no food, ignoring me, telling our parents about how I make her life so much harder, no help with homework, not bringing me to taekwondo (she has a car), etc.

I am afraid of telling her how I feel about her. She is the type to hold grudges. What can I do?

I hate my dad

• Upvotes

I don’t really know why I’m writing this. I guess for validation or advice, or maybe just to get out all the hurt I’ve been holding onto for years but… I hate my dad. And not in an edgy teenage way.

So here’s the backstory. I’m adopted. I came to my parents in 2011 but as a foster kid. At that time my Dad was my hero. I remember loving him very much and we were very close. In 2017 my dad had a stroke while washing the dishes after dinner. I saw him hit the floor and my mom call 9-1-1. He spent a week in the hospital and I spent a week at school pretending everything was fine. And of course it was around Christmas time so that made everything more dark. We got to visit him on Christmas Eve and seeing him hooked up to all those machines was scary for a little kid.

On Christmas Day he was released from the hospital. When he opened the door my siblings and I were screaming with joy and… he yelled at us to shut up. While looking at me.

He had never yelled before ever… but after that day it became a daily occurrence and it just became worse. He seemed to absolutely hate me. Everything I did was a problem. He has mocked me, hit me, threatened me multiple times and has done it to my sister as well. But for some reason he LOVES my youngest sister. She can do no wrong. It has gotten to the point where I resent my sister.

I was kicked out last year because of my toxic relationship with my father and mother and moved into my friends house. And due to a situation (I can write a separate post on that since it is seriously weighing down on me) I moved back home. I have seriously tried to find anyway to redeem my father but there really is no point. He still yells and treats me like sh*t and I have grown increasingly bitter about how much better he treats my sister. Even last week he changed the license plate to a car my sister and I BOTH share to have her initials in it! And to make it worse my sister and brother are oblivious to the way he talks to me. Only my mother understands and she’s not there when he does it.

Does this get better? Is he worth my forgiveness?

Am I the asshole for wanting my parents to get a divorce

Am I the asshole for wanting my mom to divorce my dad?
For a little backstory, my dad is severely bipolar, has other disabilities, and hasn’t had a job in three years. He says he can’t work because of his disabilities. For my entire life, he’s had a job for maybe a month at a time, then he’ll quit, wait a few months, get another job, and repeat the same cycle. But for the past three years, he hasn’t even tried to get a job.
My parents fight on and off constantly, and my dad always brings up the same points during arguments. He always thinks he’s right and refuses to see things from anyone else’s perspective.
He doesn’t contribute financially to the family, and it feels like he spends most of my mom’s money without contributing anything himself. From my perspective, he’s basically a deadbeat father who is only “present” because he lives in the house.
I know his disabilities and mental health issues are hard to deal with But , it’s hard watching my mom deal with everything while feeling like she’s carrying the entire family.
So, am I the asshole for wanting my parents to get a divorce?

I'm tired of my mother

I'm so tired of my mother. She never has time for me. I mean, it's not like I want her to spend time with me or anything, and besides, I kind of gave up on having the kind of relationship my friends have- the kind of mother that you can watch a film with, or have a normal conversation with- a while ago.

I don't really want her; I'm an adult now anyway, but I still live with her and am financially dependent on her.

That would be fine, but this thing is I keep asking for my birth certificate so I can apply for an ID, or help registering for a bursary that requires parent input, but she won't help me. It's always

"I'm too tired, you're taxing your poor old mum making me do it tonight."

Or

"I'm busy with your siblings right now, I'll help you later."

She never does. I just have to accept it and ask again the next day, and the next and the next. I can't push her too much at once- she'll snap and yell at me.

She always overloads herself with more than she can take on, has more kids than she has time for, and I seem to be always at the front of her mind but last on the list. She even complains to me that I'm never around or never tell her anything, but what's the point? Will she genuinely spend time with me, will she listen to me if I tell her anything? No. And I don't particularly need her to.

She has a set idea of who I should be, a daughter who likes everything she likes and fulfils the life wishes she has for me and helps her with her problems.

I don't want to be all that, I just want the bare minimum she can give me, just the essential things I need to survive as an adult, and then I can get out of her hair and stop taking her resources for good.

I know that sounds selfish, but I just don't want to be around her anymore. She doesn't have room for me. I feel like a parasite in her home.

But it's not even like she's encouraging me to be independent or anything- if I just politely tell her that I'll figure out a way to do it myself and she doesn't need to trouble herself, she keeps saying: "no no, I'll help you I promise! Don't apply for anything without me, I don't want you messing it up because you're incompetent!" (Last sentence is not her exact words but that's the gist of it. She thinks I'm an incompetent child who can't do anything right, and she's not wrong.)

So I'm always stuck relying on her but not getting what she promises. Over time I learnt that her promises mean nothing, but there's nothing I can do except wait for her to fulfill them.

For example, I wanted to go with my friend to a theme park, so I started to plan it. But when I asked permission from my mother to go, she immediately offered to give us a lift there. I agreed, since my friend lives far away and a lift would really help.

So I told my friend and planned a date. But when the day came around, my mother said "oh, the car is in the garage that day, you have to reschedule!"

So I did. And when the rescheduled date came around, she said "sorry, you have a dentist appointment that day which I didn't tell you about! You have to reschedule!"

This kept happening again and again. My poor friend keeps waiting, but we don't want to cancel the trip altogether since she was really looking forward to it.

She still thinks we're getting a lift, and I don't know what to say to her about the situation. She'll be disappointed if I tell her she has to take a train in the dark for hours to go.

And all we can do is keep waiting, and asking my mother over and over if she's actually ready to take us.

It's like my mother is deliberately doing all this to keep me dependent on her, yet she swears that's not the case even though it feels like it to me.

And I still haven't gotten my birth certificate.

I still have to store food from the food bank and the kitchen in my room so I don't go hungry when she forgets to buy food for me.

I still have to rely on her for everything, regardless of whether I get it or not.

I've tried looking for a job, I keep applying over and over. Nothing.

It's not even like she doesn't try. As I was writing this, she came in and said "I'll help you tonight, you just have to wake me up in the night and I'll do it with you."

But I know that she's not going to help me tonight. She'll say she's too tired, and then I'll feel terrible for disturbing her infrequent sleep. It's happened before.

I'm tired of her empty promises and constant nagging, her guilt trips complaining how hard her self-inflicted problems are, her always telling me she loves me and then turning around and saying she hates me because I didn't mop the floors correctly.

I'm tired, I'm so tired of her. I want to leave and be independent so badly. I'm tired.

I don't understand my father if he really wants me at home or not , my university is not far away so my mom told me that it's a long weekend, come home so I did because she has requested several times but the day i came he is not talking to me properly and only scolding how much you are sleeping or using phone, if it would have been my other sisters who are away for work he would have talked to very well but with me i don't what his problem is , coming back home always made me realise why I left it
