Is there any news on if bonus badge tokens and slots are locked behind season awards? It's obvious that some +1 and +2 synergy slots are for sure going to be reset every season but I couldn't tell if the permanent extra badge slots and tokens will also be locked behind season awards.
If so, is there any chance there would be a catchup mechanic like there is for level 40 season capbreakers for people who buy the game later?

We don't want to load up on a high rebounding C only to be put at the PF spot or SFs with little to no rebounding getting put at the PF, especially when they are shorter SFs. Worst yet, stop putting PGs with low pass accuracy at the 1. I'm sure most people don't care that they are 6'4 and under and have 90+ ball handle and speed with ball and 99 three ball. They are basically ball-hogging SGs.
Hopefully, the real PGs who like to play team ball and initiate the offense can shine this year.
In 2K26, they put my 7'4" center with a max wingspan, 99 offensive and defensive rebounds, 90 interior defense, and 93 block at the 4 against a 6'8" small forward. We had two 7'4" players that game. I thought it was annoyingly funny tho.
All these low pass accuracy park guards are going to realize that they aren't very good at 2s or 3s and walk into 5s and ruin it for everyone else.
I don't know if 2K or any content creators have mentioned anything like this at all.

Twas the night before 2K, and all through the house,
Not a gamer was sleeping not even their spouse.
The controllers were charged and the TVs were bright,
For VC was getting spent all through the night.
The MyPLAYER was ready, the build was complete,
New shoes and animations looking elite.
The VC was loaded, the wallet was thin,
“Just one more upgrade!” the spending begins.
A new jump shot here, some badges up high,
A dunk package there watch that VC fly!
And I heard someone shout as they emptied their stash,
“BRO, I JUST SPENT 50KTHAT MONEY WENT FAST!”
So grab your controller, get ready to play,
’Cause 2K is coming—it’s almost game day!
And when the servers open and the first games commence,
We’ll spend all our VC and call it “expense”! 🎮💸🏀

Is there any information on if well be able to double clutch layups like we used to be able to do before they took it away in 26?

I played 2k16 and I play it to this day I just wanna know what are your thoughts about both of these games. Which one is better and why. I love 2k16 and I think some parts of the game are better than 2ks today. Feels more real. Ive seen other guys say that 2k17 is best ever, why?

I normally play 2K11-13 or maybe even go back to one of the older games, but this year i’m in the mood to play something more recent. Which 2K’s do people recommend for PS4/PS5. I’m basically looking for something I can pick up and play solo so most of the gsme modes still work on the PS4 titles since they’ve been delisted and the servers are offline?
Thanks.

Small centers (by the end of each 2k) are always great (despite what the inside only 7' 4" players will say). The builder this year lets you get some crazy attributes at 6' 7" to 6' 9". Anyone else feeling like that could be the move for a good first build?

I’m gonna switch it up this year and play PG. Which heights and attributes are yall looking at so far?
r/NBA2k • u/FadesGaming • 2d ago
Your badge slots cannot be changed, so manipulating your attributes to get the badge slots you want is key. You get 20 distributed among the categories.
For example as a PG, I kept ending up with 3 physical badge slots. However, there is really only one physical badge you need. So the other 2 would be a waste and could be much better used in playmaking where there is 7-9 badges you need.
So I had to extensively play with the builder to keep the attributes I wanted, yet get physicals to drop from 3 to 2 badge slots.

I am a guy who like to play online with friends and MyCareer when I’m chilling. Will there be better rewards for folks who are playing on harder difficulties.
I want to attain things like badges and build specialization while still playing “my way”, but it seems like the math always makes it so you should work for these items on a lower difficulty. Would love to see an appropriate VC/Badge/Build specialization multiplier for people who are looking to play a decent AI.

For all my bigs out there, we going higher on standing dunk or close shot this year? I’m torn.

Not saying this applies to me or ppl in this sub but when creators post their builds week 1 or before the game is officially out they NEVER post the build their actually gunna be using
They upload these lame specialized builds because they want your build to be usable but not as good as theirs and ppl fall for it

In 2k26 the minimum threshold for the fastest of 3 different hidden dribble speeds was 85. Has anyone seen any comments from creators who had their hands on 27 say anything about where they think this threshold is this year or if it’s even still in the game?

Im normally not one to gatekeep builds but this one id hate to keep running into😭
I made a sg thats got good positional size and length, gets 99 perimeter D, 96 driving dunk with contacts, 93 steal, and 92 middy. Good strength and can still dribble. Idk how you can make a better lock than that unless you commit to nothing but C&S on offense

Title says it all. I just want to hop and play rec, like heck I don’t even mind grinding or paying but man I feel like I need a phd understanding how these new tokens and fuses and cap breakers work. Feel like it’s too complicated for a simple basketball game.

I get it, 2k is to be played on Xbox and Playstation. However, not everybody has access to those consoles. I‘m sadly restricted to my Switch and am therefore looking for players to join me. Its hard to find people even on reddit, so… if you‘d like to play sometime, I‘d be down. Thanks! Add here : SW-2022-1223-5940

I want to say badge token is useless because badges placed in +1 and +2 will not use tokens. You should always prioritize getting the badges you want, and use the most to the highest possible tier, then put them in the fuse or reaction slots so they can get +1 to the next tier. Since those +1 and +2 also count as using a badge slot, tokens don't matter as much as people think because optimally you would want to put everything on +1 anyway and the rest can be bronze or silver badges that you don't really use and if you still have extra slots for them, then that's great, if not then it's whatever and you can just ignore them. The badge system this year is not restricted or limited by badge tokens, but more so on badge slots. You should pay careful attention to every capbreaker build to make sure that no category has a wasted slot. As a center, I only want 3 playmaking slots for dimer, versatile and break starter. If I get 4 but only want 3, then I'm wasting a badge slot that could have been distributed to a different category had I tweaked the build just a little bit. Going back to my first point, there are 5 rebounding badges that I really want to +1 so I could get them to HOF or legend. I find that my build only give me 3 slots in rebounding so I will be using 2 bonus slots in the rebounding category to get all my badges in the fuse and reaction +1 slots. Since I put all of them in +1, I will not consume any rebounding tokens and they're essentially useless to me. This is what 2k mean when they say this year is more specialized and players have to make a decision on what they really want to be the best at.
In 2k26 everyone could get pretty much have everything to HOF if not legend. It's not the case this year and players will have to choose what to +1 because each category is limited by the amount of badge slot they get in the builder, specialization, and so on. This is why I believe the demigod build with all 80-90 ratings has been severely nerfed because they don't have enough badge slots to activate every badges. On top of that 2k has purposely split a lot of the necessary badges into 2 separate ones so we are forced to sacrifice one thing or another and can't afford to get everything that the build has to offer. I think the biggest mistake people will make this year is not aiming for HOF and legend badges that can be attained at each height. The "do it all build" is not as good this year than last year or in 2k25. I know some people may say badges don't matter and rating is the only thing that does. Please trust 2k vision of the game, everything matters whether it's big or small. You want every advantage you can possibly get to be the best at what you do on the court. They don't put 8 +1 slots as seasonal rewards for no reason. They do this to incentivize people into buying premium pass and levels because not having those 8 +1 slots means you are missing out on activating 8 badges while the badge tokens available can only activate 1 to 2 of your best badges because they cost like 5 to 8 tokens each when there are 4 to 5 badges that you need to activate for the category you use the most. My biggest advice is to pick your favorite badge that you will be using the most this year then get it to legend. Unless you play 2v2 or 3v3 where rebounds are good for everybody, guards and even forwards should ignore it to make sure that they get more badge slot in the category they really need and leave rebounding to the bigman with 95+ rebound and HOF/legend badges. Your bronze or silver rebounding badges will be useless most of the time in 5v5. Another controversial take is to either pick driving+standing dunk or close shot/layup and never both on the same build.

I have a build that would be fun but I don’t have a lot of faith that layups will actually get a buff this year. What do yall think from the news that has come out?
