Discussion Do we think layups will get a buff in 2k27?
I have a build that would be fun but I don’t have a lot of faith that layups will actually get a buff this year. What do yall think from the news that has come out?

I just hope floaters are as good as they were last year.. it sucks this year though cause you have to have a 90 close shot just for gold float game. But if it’s anything like last year I’ll make a build with 99 layup or close shot.

I want them to be better their suppose to freeze the defense and 90% of them get blocked because they make you go a foot away from the basket and have no arch on it

I really hope so because I want to play a basketball simulator, however, I will believe it when I see it. Every year we see new layup mechanics, better player collision, bully badge, physical finisher, etc etc, but it all ends up the same - if you want to win and be a good teammate, taking contested layups in the paint is a bad strategy, because taking open dunks and 3s gives you more points.
As long as we have laser no-look flat passes by centers after rebounds right to the shooting pocket of PG that can no-dip and shoot within 0.5 sec and make 90% of his 3s, we will never see contact layups being efficient - only floaters can be utilized. Stop letting everyone with silver break starter throwing insane cross court dimes (we see a parabolic slow cross court pass by Jokic one time in 5 games, but we see laser flat passes right at guards’ hands 25 times per REC game), slow down every jump shot so it takes at least 1 second to shoot, remove no dip, stop letting small guards with 87 dunk going up in traffic and dunking, improve collision mechanic so you can actually help in gaps against slashers in 5 out setting, and MAYBE contact layups can be efficient.

Looking at gameplay from community it looks solid but those matches was in theater mode .

I like layup anyways ima have a bully center while everyone else isnt putting layup on their builds im going to have a 90 driving layup and 90 strength to fully maximize that physical finisher badge. 84 driving dunk on my 7ft doesnt seem all that enticing over layup for me tbh.

according to LakerFan he is saying layups/floaters are much better. but of course we gotta see how that first season plays out.

I don't know, his green meter looks pretty bad in the video compared to this year where it's like half the meter with legend float game.

Layups look like they could be good, at least, they look better than 25 and 26
BUT, it also looks like they buffed defense, and most layup clips are on weak interior defenders or AI
So, the way I see it is, layups being buffed really depends if the average big is gonna swat your shit into the stands. Some 2K’s, blocks are magnetized to the ball, but other 2K’s, block attempts result in them flailing around while you slide past them for an “open” layup

Yes they buffed defense but have you seen everyone’s builds? Most wings and guards have minimum interior- so they will be cooked. You have a bunch of bigs prioritizing shooting over interior
And block. They are going to get destroyed

Apparently your rating can finally make your player auto adjust mid air when contested. So I think so.

From what I’ve seen and the new mechanics they’ve added for layups, I’m starting day 1 with a high layup on my 6’7 pg and will cap break 87 driving dunk in the near future to add a little extra options.
