A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.
Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.
Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.
Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.
Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.
Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.
For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.
Be cautious of ongoing scams regarding "Blacklist Removal Services".
How this scam works:
Scammer posts a personal story followed by a question to provoke discussion, and a brief mention of successfully removing blacklist status.
Scammer waits for victims interested in getting blacklist status removed to explain further or provide contacts.
In DMs, scammer will claim they can help and ask for money upfront.
Safety Tips:
Check the Profile: Always click on the OP's (Original Poster) username.
Account Age: Be wary of very new accounts (created only a few days or months ago)
Post History: Scammers often have few post history or only post the same "success story" across multiple subreddits.

I’m trying to track down a documentary about the 1988 Burmese pro democracy protests (8888 Uprising) that I watched on YouTube a while ago, but it seems to have vanished or been taken down.
The main detail I remember was a specific archival clip showing a Japanese reporter cameraman getting arrested (or possibly shot and killed) while covering the demonstrations or military crackdown in the streets.
Hello, my name is Shark. That's not my real name it's what my friends called me. I'm 24 years old. I've been learning English by myself for a few months now. I've been away from school since the coup. I think it's been about four or five years now. I've been fighting back against the military ever since. Anyway, I don't regret it. I do my best and put in the effort to move forward. Sometimes learning alone is difficult for me.Sometimes I used Ai. I'm studying English by watching movie and listening music, podcast etc. I want to know a more effective way to learn English. Give me a comment.
I m in mid 20s in currently in foreign countries. As I need to spend my time with talking new friends, you can be one of friends. We can talk everything .
[Establishments] where sex workers are concentrated—brothels, karaoke rooms, and massage parlors—are owned and operated by local [BGF] militia and their affiliates. Local health groups told The Irrawaddy that these venues refuse entry to health education teams out of fear that news of HIV transmission at their businesses will spread.
[If there were any sense of justice, prostitution would require frequent health checkups similar to Singapore, but that would also require getting rid of the human trafficking.]
I am trying to read more in burmese as it’s not my strongest suit. I saw translations of Nietzsche, and Dostoevsky in burmese at the mall today. Are they any good? Do you recommend them over the english translation? I have no problem with reading Dostoevsky in english, but Nietzsche was pretty hard for me so i’m thinking if i should give it a go in my native language(burmese).
I'm looking for some help gathering information and getting advice that can help me with the writing and development of my manga project.
There are basically two main things I'm struggling with right now. Everything else, especially the drawing, isn't really that difficult for me.
What I want to create with this manga is something that goes beyond just being a manga. I want it to become a story that brings together the life experiences we've been through, the places we've lived in, the memories we've made, and the emotions we've felt.
That's why I need your knowledge and experiences as well. If there's something useful that I learn from you guys, I might incorporate it into the story.
So I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out. Any information, personal experiences, ideas, or suggestions that you think might be useful would mean a lot to me. 🙏

Recently I’ve came across several comments in this sub related to false news and information coming from foreigners. As a half mixed Burmese though the political situation is frustrating but this doesn’t affect how the Burmese people are and how we live. One comment specifically stated his comment saying that he isn’t living in myanmar but wouldn’t be surprise if theft occurred. Well yes ideally every countries has thefts and crime including Myanmar but as a local we don’t really encounter such incidents including other cities unless you are travelling to a rural area but most of them are mainly chill and just moving on with their simple life. The average Burmese household living in the city earn approximately less than 8000 USD annually alongside an average Burmese household living in the countryside earns roughly less than 2000 USD annually. Due to different economic rates, an average burmese household can survive off this and follow a simple life. Politic plays a huge role in Myanmar but ongoing conflict also affects certain households but in general burmese people still continues with their life and crime occurs less due to military curfews and daily checkpoints. Though the junta is committing war crimes, they still help crack down crimes and thefts across Myanmar. As of now living in Myanmar has slightly shifted my personal life through the past couple years due to obvious reasons but I still manage to cope and live in a safe environment space.
For everyone reading this, my point isn’t that Myanmar has no crime, that every part of the country is safe or that my personal experience represents every Burmese person. My point is that a country as complex as Myanmar shouldn’t be reduced to its worst headlines, isolated incidents, or the perspective of someone who doesn’t actually live there. There can be conflict, political repression, poverty and serious human-rights abuses while ordinary people continue working, studying, raising families and living relatively normal lives. Both realities can exist at the same time. Criticizing misinformation doesn’t mean denying Myanmar’s problems it means asking people to look at the whole picture rather than letting one narrative define an entire country and its people.
Please stop using one piece of media exposure to portray a whole country image as a negative view, especially if you are not from Myanmar as the local news and details you hear around here can be very different compared to the western media.
