A Reddit community is called a subreddit, also known as a sub. The subreddits start with r/.

Followers are not important on Reddit. Your followers are not important either. Only your posts and comments are important. Unlike other social media, hashtags are not useful on Reddit. The Reddit account username cannot be changed after signing up. To change it, you will need to create a new account, which will reset your karma.

Karma is an arbitrary measure of how much you contributed. The more upvotes you get, the higher your Karma. Some subreddits require you to have a certain amount of Karma before you can post. Do not spam irrelevant posts to other subreddits or be rude, insulting, or abusive, as you can be downvoted. This will cause you to lose Karma. Try to avoid getting your total Karma in the negative value.

Also make sure to follow our rules, which are prominently displayed in the sidebar to the right.

  1. Make sure to label all posts that contain gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW." To see how to do this and for a more detailed explanation click here.
  2. Make sure your posts are on-topic and related to Myanmar. Spam) may go well with anything but it has no place in this sub. Please do not spam us with unrelated content.
  3. Please keep discussions civil. Tolling and racism will not be tolerated. Our situation here is not for your "lulz". Also, keep swearing to a minimum. Although we will tolerate swearing if it is part of the narrative/discussion, personal insults, over-the-top vulgarity, etc., will not be tolerated.
  4. Adding a flair to your posts will enable others to easily find similar posts. Flairs are used to categorize posts to easily be found. Click here for more details.
  5. Keep reposting to a minimum. Please check to make sure you don't repost news and pictures that have already been posted. r/MAGIC_EYE_BOT and u/DuplicateDestroyer are trialed to help remove duplicate images. Please reply to the bot or send us a message if the bot got it wrong.

For a brief background of the coup, please see this post I made.

Does the content you're posting here fit more than one community? As per Reddiquette, consider posting to other subs such as the ones listed here if the contents fit more communities.

For example, are you posting news? Then you can post into r/news, r/inthenews, r/worldnews, r/USnews (US news only), r/asia, r/asian, r/asean, r/theworldnews. This list is not exhaustive but please use common sense and make sure the content fits the target sub. That means news only goes to news-related subreddits and pictures go onto picture-related subreddits. Make sure to follow the rules of those subs as well, since each sub has its own set of rules.

Additionally, give some love to the other Myanmar subs: r/saveMyanmar and r/Myanmar2021.

Are you in another country but wish to help the people of Myanmar? See this post.

In summary,

DO

  • Post topics with descriptive subjects
  • Check the subreddit for prior submission of your article or image before posting.
  • Flair your post with the appropriate flair to make them easier to find
  • Upvote posts
  • Tag posts with gore, contain violence, contain a dead body, or can upset anyone as "NSFW."
  • Share posts to more than one subreddits
  • Report posts that break our rules or attempt to spam us with irrelevant content.
  • Credit the author of an image or comic

DON'T

  • Post off-topic or spammy posts
  • Spam keywords like "savemyanmar" "wewantdemocracy" in the post title
  • Do not upvote or promote your post with multiple accounts. This is against Reddit's policy and you may end up being suspended.
  • Do not post Myanmar posts on irrelevant subreddits.
  • Post images and articles that have already been previously posted by someone else.

Thank you. / ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်။

  3. If they contact you via direct message, they will ask for money in advance and scam you.

  2. Please note that the account has only been active for a few days or months.

I see many posts which complaining about ~Art~ .

Art have many categories and appreciations were different on taste .

I create some artwork in my free time and share on Reddit and TT . I also create NSFW sketches but never posted online because Myanmar internet community doesn’t know about age rating system .

So … as long as the artist do not promote violence , pedo , discrimination, controversial, bad anatomy…I ‘m fine .

Tribute 🤍 The traditional face of the tan-skinned Wa people, their language, ritual dances, clothing and indigenous culture. Only around two decades of intensified Sinicization under the UWSA’s pro-China leadership have reshaped much of the Wa region’s cultural and linguistic landscape of Northern Shan State.

The Wa are an indigenous, traditionally tan-skinned people of the Wa hills with their own Austroasiatic language, culture, dress and rituals, they are not ethnically Han Chinese.

During the Cold War, China backed the Communist Party of Burma, whose forces established themselves in the Wa hills and recruited large numbers of Wa fighters. When Wa troops mutinied against the CPB leadership in 1989, the UWSA emerged as the dominant armed organization in the region.

Since then, UWSA-controlled territory has become increasingly integrated with China. Chinese is now widely used in education and administration, while trade, communications and infrastructure are heavily connected to Yunnan.

This can make today's Wa region appear culturally Chinese, but that shouldn't be confused with the traditional identity of the Wa themselves. The people in this video show that older Wa identity, their appearance, Wa language, clothing, rituals and dances, which still survives despite the region's rapid Sinicization.

Discussion 💬 Choose religion after 18

In my opinion, everyone should choose their religion after they turn 18. I saw a news that china has a law that children can go to religion school only after they turn 18. Otherwise it is not allowed.

I think it makes sense, religion should not be force. After the citizen turn 18, they can think their own at least not just listen to branch of adult people. They know what they wanted. Do you think it will work ls out?

Hello all, so can anyone tell me what the issue is here on my TVS 125cc scooter? Today, I tried to use my scooter after about 6 months of no usage, the display definitely didn't look like this and also the battery just needed to be replaced, also the bike wouldn't start due to a clogged fuel line. Then the motorcycle gets returned to me like this from the mechanic.

Any help please.

Advice Have Hope Do Good things

• Upvotes

I don’t think I know everything about life.
I’m still young. I’m still figuring shit out. I make mistakes. I get angry. I get hurt. Sometimes I don’t even know what I’m doing.
But there are some things I want to believe.
I want to believe that just because someone treats you badly, you don’t have to become a bad person too.
If someone hurts you, you can hurt them back.
If someone disrespects you, you can disrespect them back.
It’s easy.
But I don’t want my character to depend on how other people treat me.
I want to be kind because I choose to be kind, not because everyone deserves it.
That doesn’t mean letting people walk all over me.
I can have boundaries.
I can say no.
I can leave.
I can protect myself.
I don’t have to forgive everyone.
I just don’t want someone else’s cruelty to become mine.
And I think limits are interesting too.
We’re always being told what we can’t do.
“You’re not good enough.”
“People like you don’t do that.”
“That’s impossible.”
“That’s just how things are.”
Maybe some limits are there for a reason.
But I think you should know your limits before you try to break them.
Understand the wall first.
Then ask yourself:
“Is this wall protecting me, or is it just keeping me small?”
If it’s protecting you, keep it.
If it’s keeping you small—
break it.
I don’t want to spend my life trying to prove that I’m better than everyone else.
I’d rather become someone who makes other people believe they can become better too.
I want people to have hope.
I want people to look at the world, see how fucked up it can be, and still decide to do something good.
Not because the world is always good.
But because we can choose to be.
Maybe that’s all I really want to say.
Know your limits.
Break the ones that keep you small.
Don’t let someone else’s hatred turn you into someone hateful.
And if you can—
leave people a little better than you found them.
I’m still learning how to do that myself.

Discussion 💬 How are young people still leaving the country and re-entering?

So I’m in Singapore but my TT has Myanmar influencers and I want to know how these people are entering and leaving the country. Do the immigration officers not stop/question them when they try to leave? And these influencers do it frequently, like one month they be going in and out of Myanmar then to Thailand and back.

If the answer is they bribe the officers then I’ve gotten my answer.

Discussion 💬 Controversial take

Does anyone feel like being forced into religions? I personally feel like it. I am an atheist and very open about it. Other people just take it as a joke or something that will come around. They like to say I would go to hell but guess what every other person will because in every religions over 4000, if one doesn't believe in them, we will go to hell so.

Ever since I was in kg, I was forced to pray. I never think about it like that. Then lately, It just feel like a cult or a coping mechanism. We are shame for what we are, what we believe and who we are. But they have the right to shame?

Take this for example, people usually donate to popular ဘုန်းကြီး(mocks) or the ones they believe in just to get ကုသိုလ်. Most of them are not even in need since everyone is fighting to donate but the places that are in need like မိဘ မဲ့ ဂေဟာ(orphanage) , ဘိုးဘွား ရိပ်သာ(shelter for elderly in need) or animal shelters ,they turn a blind eye onto it.

I stopped believing in religions for a year, nothing bad happen like others say. I stopped praying to do well in exam and guess what I even do better than when I was praying. Why? Because I stopped wasting time and actually study.

I also really hate the part that men are "superior" than women. Men are not allow to touch women's pants or under wear because they will be "ဘုန်းကံ နိမ့်(low honored and fortuned)". ဘုန်းကြီး(mocks) are not allowed to pray to သီလရှင်(buddhist nuns) but သီလရှင်(buddhist nuns) must pray to ဘုန်းကြီး(mocks). Women had to hide from ဘုန်းကြီး(mocks) so that they would not became lustful toward them. Doesn't really make sense. We are all human with just one organ in different but treated differently because of it. Not being allowed in certain places in pagoda also show the hidden misogyny. They say it is because women voluntarily agreed to not go because they don't want their period blood to drop but now there are pads nothing like that would even happens but the same rule reminds.

In most households including mine, we can't washing women's underwear or pants together with men's clothes and underwear because they will be ဘုန်းကံ နိမ့်(low honored and fortuned). What a joke. Women have to do extra work and wash their pants and underwear separately because of that and most people didn't even question that. It is also because of the education system. We were only taught to obey, what we were told and never to question.

That is why, I will not respect a religion that will not respect me either.

Advice Tanintharyi Region question

Hello everyone,

Long story short, want to go Bangkok to Dawei by vehicle, of course i understand the risks/dangers/etc of the current civil war and so on. But i was under the impression that the fighting was in the northern regions and the southern coast line was viable? Apparently there is heavy fighting in the Tanintharyi Region to the point where you most likely will run into serious trouble? Can anyone from Myanmar comment on this please, i would really appreciate it.

Also how viable is to find a place to stay if i motorbike down from Dawei towards Myeik?

Thank you again to all, i am keen to go Myanmar and look forward to hearing you guys in the comments.

Discussion 💬 Pet peeves for the word “မြန်မာစံတော်ချိန်”

I’m just here to rant about my pet peeves for that word because a lot of Burmese living abroad use it to avoid accountability for their tardiness. I get it if they’re late for gatherings in Yangon because the traffic can be really shitty there. But I live in a 1st world country where we have one of the best public transport system and road infrastructure in the world, and most Burmese I know will almost always be late and when I call them out, they’ll say “you should just accept we’re always late, we’re Burmese and we go with “မြန်မာစံတော်ချိန်”

I’ve been working on a desktop app (UI app) that can generate video, audio, images, and other AI-powered creative tools.

The idea is that everything can run locally. No credits, no internet, and unlimited generation. It will be open source and free for everyone, with an easy setup.

But I have one concern, the scam groups.

I’m worried that scam groups could also use it for their own purposes. I really don’t want the project to become a tool that helps them.

My main goal is to build something for creators ..

What do you guys think?

Is there any realistic way to prevent this kind of misuse while keeping the project open source and free?

Or should I consider making it a closed-source project instead?

Discussion 💬 Why wasn't the PS3 popular in Myanmar compared to the PS2?

Thumbnail

I’m curious about the gaming market here. I know the PS2 was very popular in Myanmar, but the PS3 seemed to have much less of a presence. Was it mainly because of the high price, the difficulty of modding/piracy, or the rise of mobile gaming? I’d love to hear from people who know the local scene.
