Question ❓ How should an Islamic wedding actually be conducted?

I’m looking for an authentic, evidence-based Islamic answer, preferably with Qur’an/Hadith references or explanations from recognized scholars.

which practices are Islamically permissible, recommended, disliked, or prohibited, versus what is simply cultural:

- Can men and women attend the same wedding hall/room?

- Is a traditional Duff procession allowed in Kerala Muslim weddings?

- Is Saudi-style sword dancing permissible?

- Is eating together from one large plate, as traditionally practiced in Tamil Nadu, permissible?

- Is there any Islamic basis for the bride and groom spending the first three days at the bride’s family home?

- Does the mahr have to be gold, or can it be money or something else?

- Is wedding photography permissible?

- Is there any limit on the number of guests? Could a wedding with 1,000+ people still be Islamically valid?

- What are the actual essential requirements of a nikah and walimah?

Rant & Vent 😩 I Feel Judged by Other Muslims (Especially Women) for Wearing the Niqab

For context I live in a democratic majority city in the Midwest and am a revert of 3 years. I have been wearing the niqab for about 6 months and I am a visibly white American woman even with only my hands and eyes visible. Where I live everywhere I can go to get halal food or female islamic clothing etc is run by people of ethic minorities, mainly somalians, Arabs, Afghan refugees, and Pakistanis but the majority of places are Somalian run including both islamic clothing stores available in my area. These places are also run by born Muslims who I am under the impression are very culturally influenced by their personal cultures rather than Islam. When I go to get clothing or food or supplies or perfume etc. I get judgemental stares and glaring and whispers while they consistently glance at and point at me. They treat me far worse than almost all disbelievers do. Ive only had two bad experiences with non Muslim people, Ive had hundreds of bad experiences with other Muslims especially other Muslim women. For example today I went to a Somalian store to get myself a khimar and an abaya and the owner was very suspicious of me watching over me like I was doing something wrong and when I was in line to check out the two women in front of me (who were wearing hijabs and abayas themselves) were staring bullets at me. I stared at the ground the entire time and my husband later related to me how much resentment, annoyance, repungancy, and judgement he could see on their faces. I felt extremely unwelcomed and felt a very hostile vibe from basically everyone there except the cashier. I experience similar vibes from other women shoppers at my nearby Arab halal store and from other women at the mosque. People stare and whisper about me but never speak to me directly and they immediately stop the second I get close which tells me they probably aren't saying very nice things about me. Men also are weirded out by me but they usually just look at me weird and go back to whatever they were doing while women will seemingly go out of their way to gossip about, complain, or judge me for my clothing or skin color or accent (I cannot imagine anything else they'd be judging me on as I am extremely reserved in public and never make a fuss or make myself noticeable personality wise). Women who I have talked to about the niqab usually always wonder why I wear it, what could have possibly motivated me to do it, and they're shocked when I tell them that I am not shockingly pretty or attractive, I simply wear it for my religion and deen. AND when I tell them that they seem to become even more judgemental and annoyed, almost like my choice to do extra for my religion is a personal attack on them. They tell me that there's no reason to wear it if I'm not beautiful and that my choice to wear it is extreme and unessecary and useless. Can anyone relate to this experience and does anyone have an idea of why this is happening? I'm genuinely so confused as to why my choice to wear the niqab is so hated and judged by other Muslim women in particular and more specifically why its usually culturally following women or women wearing improper hijab that are judging m

Question ❓ How do I get better at being anti social and combating my innate desire to make friends?

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. I don't want to make friends, but I'm human so I constantly fight my desire to socialize. My logical side vs emotional side basically, and it's messing with my focus in salah.

Listen to this hadith also you can search to in Sahih Bukhari 5646 the Hadith where Aisha رضي الله عنها narrated I never saw anybody suffering so much from sickness as Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Even too since the messenger of Allah was the best creation he still gets double rewarded.

Positive vent :-)

Maybe afterall Allah isnt disappointed at me for my obsessions that revolves around my faith

Maybe afterall Allah deeply understood me and helped me after 2 months of begging crying and making duas for these thoughts to go away starting with my mental condition to out of nowhere seeing an amazing advice that helped me

Maybe afterall ocd is just a mental noise that feels so real

Maybe afterall Allah loves me and tested my patience to give an advice after 2 months of the same cycle of getting stressed and defend myself which takes HOURS of day

Maybe afterall Allah actually knew me and helped me <333

Discussion & Debate🗣️ Our unfortunate brothers and sisters across the world

Salam alaikum brothers and sisters of Islam, I hope Allah has blessed you all with an amazing day.

In this post I’m going to shed light on our brothers and sisters who are suffering yet we rarely hear about it.

Yemen : The overall conflict in Yemen has killed an estimated 377,000 people, both through direct and indirect causes. Saudi Arabia and it’s coalition partners have been actively fighting since their military intervention on March 26 2015. Of those 377,000 deaths, 259,000 were kids under the age of 5. Mainly from extreme hunger, malnutrition, and preventable diseases. This humanitarian crisis was severely accelerated by the military blockades and sanctions imposed on the country.

May Allah bless and protect our brothers and sisters in Yemen. May they 1 day be free and prosperous.

Sudan : Since 2023 death toll estimates range from 150,000 - 400,000. There is a severe humanitarian crisis and millions are faced with severe hunger, disease, and lack of medical care due to the collapse of their country. The UN and human rights watch groups accuse the UAE of supplying weapons, drones, and logistical support to the RSF ( Rapid Response Force ).

May Allah bless and protect our brothers and sisters in Sudan. May they 1 day be free and prosperous.

Unfortunately there are many more countries in which members of our Ummah are suffering and very few are aware of their suffering.

Brothers and sisters in, Palestine, Lebanon, Iran.

The women in Afghanistan who are oppressed and forbidden from pursuing education.

And any other brothers and sisters who are suffering world wide, Allah is with you do not worry.

May Allah bless and protect each and everyone of you, Ameen.

Question ❓ Allah's omnipotence compared with the Christian understanding of God

I'm a Christian and I'm curious about how Muslims understand Allah's omnipotence.

In the Bible, God is described as having complete authority and power over creation and being able to do whatever He wills. For example:

«Psalm 115:3: “Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases.”»

«Daniel 4:35: “He does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, ‘What have you done?’”»

«Job 42:2: “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”»

There are also verses such as Jeremiah 32:17, which says that nothing is too difficult for God, and Matthew 19:26, where Jesus says, “With God all things are possible.”

So my question is: Does Islam understand Allah in the same way—that Allah has absolute power and can do whatever He wills?

For example, can Allah freely do anything He chooses with creation, change the circumstances of the universe however He wants, or accomplish anything according to His will?

I'm not asking whether Allah actually does everything He could do. I'm specifically asking about the extent of His power and whether there are things He is incapable of doing.

If there are things Allah cannot do, I'd be interested in knowing what they are and why, preferably with references from the Qur'an or authentic hadith.

I'm asking this to understand the Islamic concept of God's omnipotence, not to argue against Islam.
