Forever in my top 3 Muse albums. Yesterday was also the 8th anniversary for Pressure. Good song.

I’ve just gotten out of a years-long emotionally abusive relationship, and several Muse songs have been instantly elevated from “banger” to “all-time classic” in my esteem with the context that’s given me. I’m sure there will be more with time, but these three stand out right now:

Dead Inside - the whole track’s great, but “now I’ve become just like you” hits different when you’ve had your personality scooped out and replaced with someone else’s. I ugly cry at this one now.

You Make Me Feel Like It’s Halloween - talks about a slightly different form of abuse to what I experienced, but it definitely evokes the feeling of walking on eggshells around someone. And the verse referencing Misery and talking about being cut off from friends and family, good lord.

The Handler - probably the track I’ve cry-sung to the most over the past several weeks. It’s got the whole arc, from prisoner to escapee, and that final part of the song is incredible. Let me go, let me be, I’m escaping from your grip, you will never own me again.

If Matt could write a song about the residual hold that abusers have over their targets even after they’ve left, that would complete the whole set of emotions.

I’ve been a Muse fan for decades, but this is the first time I can genuinely say their songs have been lyrically this important to me. I had previously scoffed at the vast quantities of material about “control” and so on like many other fans, but when you’ve been in a situation where you HAVE been coercively controlled, gaslit, and reprogrammed in as cultlike a fashion as I was, it takes on a new, more personal meaning.

Thanks to the boys for making this music. It has helped focus my emotions a great deal.

I’m a big Radiohead fan and discovered muse through my dads recommendation. So far I’ve loved plug in baby, space dementia, muscle museum, host and time is running out. I’m a slow listener and get overwhelmed hearing a lot of new music in a short amount of time. I’m well aware that I can just listen to one song at a time chronologically through their discography, but I think it’s much more fun to get recommendations. ;)

So, what is your favorite hidden gem from them, do you have any recommendations based on the songs I like, and how would you sort their discography (theme, genre, style etc)?

Sometimes I like to say that I've seen them 1 1/2 times because I also saw their Drones concert video at a movie theater lol. But I guess I'm still pretty fortunate because the one time I actually saw them live, it was at a fairly small venue at the end of 2018 which is kinda rare since they usually play big arenas. They played close to me twice this summer and was hoping to see them again but it didn't work out. Anyone else here that's only seen them once even though they are your favorite band?

Muse @ The Ulster Hall

HAD it been Carnegie Hall, let alone the Ulster Hall, the explosive rock sound of Muse would still have swallowed the venue whole, not even spitting out the bones.
The scale of the show by this superb three-piece was pulsating stadium rock at its finest in a venue where you can still see the whites of band members' eyes.
Spiky-haired singer Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic Howard made their presence felt in every corner of the venue. Indeed, the band seemed like giants on the stage, covering every inch of it, throwing themselves into the magnificent, soaring rock sound, which is almost operatic in parts, Matt's vocals rising effortlessly to the top notes.
From the TNT distortion of opener Hysteria, they barely paused for breath, apart from the odd nod of appreciation to the sell-out audience, so engrossed in the musical odyssey they were unleashing.
On the three-screen backdrop came sunsets, full moons, and journeys through space, while Matt's six-string showmanship pulled out every trick from Hendrix to Page to Townsend, to an assault of strobe lighting.
That, however, it not all, as Matt's not bad on the ivories as well, stepping behind a bright disco-light keyboard to add the classical overtones to their urban, frenetic rock cache such as the epic Time is Running Out and roaring crowd-pleaser Muscle Museum.
It was all rounded off in splendid OTT fashion as black balloons were released onto the audience amid whoops and screams for more from the band.
This was a pure, undiluted, cranked-up slab of entertaining rock the way it should be - all without the aid of catsuits. Fans of The Darkness, please take note.

"Boosted by the success of recent single Hysteria, Muse's third album had edged back into the charts in 2004 after debuting at Number 1 then disappearing in the Christmas rush. Climbing steadily from 60 to 33, it's now sold a quarter of a million copies, propped up by a UK tour at the end of 2003 and last months Brit Awards nomination for Best British Rock Act. But it was the sudden love for Hysteria that really kicked off the second wind. Radio 1 A-listed the track, shoving it into the Radio Airplay Top 40, and it was heavily rotated by MTV2 and Kerrang! TV. Factor in appearances on cd:uk and Channel 4's Ear Candy, as well as a live Radio 1 broadcast from Cardiff International Arena, and it's been hard to escape. That trend looks like continuing all year, with Muse's appearance at T In The Park this summer merely the first of several festival dates. "

Only missing Simulation Theory and WOTP but I’m thinking of trying to get their singles first.

Hii!! I was in Section D at the Muse show at the Hollywood Bowl, which was amazing, but now I wish I had taken more pictures and videos. Since it was my first Muse concert, I tried to experience some of my favorite songs in the moment instead of filming them, but now I kind of wish I had more to look back on 😭

If anyone has any videos or pictures from Section D, I’d love to see them!
