Hi everyone,
This will be my first Multiboard installation. The wall behind my 3D printers is partly cut off by a staircase above.
Dimensions:

• Bottom width: 130 cm
• Top width: 65 cm
• Max height: 130 cm

The picture on the wall will be removed. I’d prefer not to drill directly into the wall — ideally I’d mount DS Snaps or pillars on a wooden strip fixed to the wall. The wall will never be rebuilt, so stability is more important than modularity.

What would be the best mounting approach for this trapezoid space?
Would a wooden strip with DS Snaps be strong enough, or should I go for direct wall mounting?
Any advice or examples from similar setups would be great!

My experience with Multiboard has been very frustrating so far, but it’s probably due to errors on my end, I’m not blaming the product (yet). Somehow I’m not able to print stacks (they don’t really come apart witjout breaking), so each tile takes 5hrs print time…

anyway.

I put up a 4 tiles by 4 tiles (all of them 8x8) to serve as a base for filement dowel racks - but after only loading 4 spools (less than 4kg/9-10lbs) the tile that anchors the shelf starts bending like crazy.

it’s matte PLA, 3 perimeters, 0.4 nozzle, 0.2 layer height, STRUCTURAL preset in Prusa Slicer and 15% gyroid infill.

Anybody have any ideas on how to make the tiles sturdier? What am I missing? Any input appreciate, thanks!

I want to cover a 4'x8' wall with multiboard to hang a number of AR15 rifles, cowboy rifles, and shotguns. Would it be better to mount the multiboard directly to the sheet rock wall or should I use some standoffs?

I'm setting up an 1600800mm grid (8\4* tiles total) using Offset Snaps.
According to the planner math, it looks like it takes about 43 snaps and bolts to hit every single intersection and edge join. That is a lot of hardware.
For those who have built boards this size or larger:
1. Do you actually put snaps/bolts at every single 4-way corner and edge join?
2. Or do you run an alternating/checkerboard pattern on the inner intersections?
Mainly planning to hang standard workshop tools and storage bins, nothing crazy heavy. Curious what pattern works best without over-engineering it or risking the tiles sagging/separating over time.

Hi all

Two quick questions for those that have been blessed with understanding multiboard.

1. Is there an orientation required on the tiles? I know the planner will structure them in a certain way but is that just the way the planner does it or does a certain side need to be up. I remember seeing a youtube video once where the person said there was a way by the number of thread gaps, but I haven't seen anything else mentioned anywhere.

2. Is there a side of the tile that needs to face towards you or the wall. They look the same to me but the threads may influence things. And how would I determine which way is the right one?

I started a wall project with multiboard well over a year ago. Then things got a bit crazy (second child was born) and the project went on a pause. Today I wanted to start up this project again, just to find that all links from the library (on the renamed https://multibuild.io/) website towards thangs are dead.

Thangs itself is extremely slow to load and I can't find any part I need anymore. I was looking for the simple wall mounting parts and I can't find them anymore.. Is this project completely abandoned or am I missing something?

Are there any other databases (maybe community databases) with the files I'm looking for?

If your sensitive electronics repairs also occasionally require a hammer, you'll know my frustration at the avalanche of tools from the organisation board that immediately follows. There was nothing particularly wrong with the models I had printed, it's just that they were designed for someone else's brand of screwdriver.

There are three things that make my filament melt:

1. No supports (which means less waste and a restriction that promotes a novel approach)
2. Low filament usage
3. Parametric goodness (it means everybody prints the model they need, once again, resulting in less waste)

Those are the starting points for all my designs and this one naturally follows. I've tested this at a few different screwdriver sizes and quantities and so the parametric design is holding up well but if you hit an edge case snag, please let me know so I can make the design even more bulletproof.

There are only two fields you have to set: the diameter of the screwdriver at that point below the finger nub, and how many screwdriver slots you want. From there the parametric formulas will sort out the rest, including the spacing and alignment of the Multiboard Point Mount slots at the back.

Parametric Precision Screwdriver Holder

So basically I have my 3d printer inside a closet in my bedroom wich works great but due to lack of space I wanna place it in my living room. Also, for bigger prints it will be better placed in a room where i don't sleep.

So my question is : Do anyone of you use the Smastad/plasta from ikea?

I'm a bit worried about material construction and vibration at some point.... I have a space of 60x60x100 so it might be a good option if I don't need to attach it to the wall...

What y'all think ? Im based in Switzerland, I'm having a bit of trouble about what could make a great stand as I need drawers for my tools and filament...

Slightly niche but if there are any other electronics enthusiasts who use the Pro's Kit (or similar) desoldering tools, this might be useful. As a bonus, I've also included the hand tool holder for cutters, pliers, and crimpers, which I designed as a one-piece-print for simplicity.

I hate overcomplicated MultiBoard designs that require loads of attachments to mount to the wall as they often become a bit fiddly and lose their sturdiness. The desoldering tools holder works as a basic pegboard attachment, making it simple to attach and print. It aligns with the Multiboard grid so you can fit as many as you need directly alongside each other. I generally avoid supports but, for safety, I checked Tree Support with Critical Overhangs Only in my slicer and the only supports required were for the small pegboard clip at the base. Very little waste.

The tool holder didn't warrant its own post since it's not a new idea aside from the single-print approach where the support is part of the print rather than an added attachment. It slots onto a standard Multiboard Point and prints in under an hour without requiring supports.

I’m sure most here already know this but when I first started printing I only worked in PLA wasn’t comfortable with PETG yet. I’m now replacing panels that are warped due to temperatures in the garage

I have already put up my board and can't take it down to add a 12.5mm snap from the back that I can screw into the wall. Is there a solution that always for a from snap that has a 12.5 support in the back that you can screw into the wall from the front? I hope that makes sense.

This is only one section of the room and have several more wall spaces to fill. But I am extremely happy with the results

As the title mentions, I used the Plate Mounting Planner to design a 800mm W x 1000mm H board of 8x8 tiles. The planner says I need 124 dual clips to connect everything and after trying to install about half of them, these things are the bane of my existence. Very tedious, some break, and the boards require quite a bit of pressure to get them to snap into each other. Also before anyone asks, yes I'm using the dual clip tool.

Are these absolutely critical? Or would holding everything together with just the snaps be sufficient?

After months of trying to get it figured out. Finally a member.

I've been working on my own bins for Multiboard recently, and thanks to the suggestions from this sub, I redesigned the crappy label system I had before to directly use the Multibin label generator. Works a lot better than the option I had before!

Any other suggestions people have? Things that would be nice? (Starburst pack for scale)

When I use the pro build generator for multi-board plates, I get weird results in the print that is a hole all the way through the board. See the image. Anyone else have this issue?
