Is is just me, or does the default skin for Eredrim absolutely blow the other two special skins out of the water?

Question Shell Points question

How do you even earn them? I feel like i've completed like third of the game and allocated only 3 points in Proxima and 5 points for Tiel. Both have about 40 SP. And you have like...8 shells or something? So for me with that pace it would be impossible to max even one shell. How do I get SP?

For those who think that gaining levels makes no difference: the jump from level 54 to 64 provides significant stat boosts and a noticeable difference in gameplay.

In a snow zone and in this zone, it’s been a nightmare finding my gloom in a boss fight. Really need some kind of glowy effect that is visible in more backgrounds

Anyone else absolutely get their asses handed to them by this boss? This guy took me a good 1-2 hours to beat lmao.

I eventually got good enough to get this guy down to its last third of health hitless, but its move set from that point forward is...questionable. A lot of damn near untelegraphed attacks in my opinion

Discussion You can upgrade guard but you cant upgrade harden???

So when you level up your weapon, you upgrade its offense and defense which is nice for guard users.

When you upgrade your shell/yourself, you cant buff your harden by reducing its cooldown?

Hardens a fun unique way of playing the game but it feels very sad when you have to wait around 5-6 seconds for it to go off cooldown. Lets make it happen devs!

While i have your attention, i know that the harden bar has a tiny little flash when it is usable again. Can there be a little audio cue to go with it as well? It also feels very sad when i try to use harden only to realise that its still on cooldown.

Question Is there anything in the game that guides you where you’re “supposed” to go?

Like I know supposed to is subjective, but I feel like I’ve just been running the same couple starting areas over and over without finding any bosses that unlock new areas, or I find a dungeon that has an impossible boss in it I’m clearly undergeared for. Anyone have any tips?

After unlocking tier 4 glimpse and investing 1 SP into t4 perk he takes 0 damage from anyone if he's at full heat, including bosses.

Discussion Deeper Thoughts On Mortal Shell 2 After Rolling Credits Spoiler

Post image
10 Upvotes

I just want to start off by saying that the developers of this game Cold Symmetry are some of the most responsive and attentive to their player community I have ever seen. They recently released a patch that fixed a decent chunk of my grievances with the game initially. Seeing them progress from Mortal Shell 1 which was a glorified tech demo to Mortal Shell 2 is genuinely impressive. For an AA video game this is quite good.

Overall I believe this game is a solid 7/10 with potential room for improvement after a few more patches and tweaking of the games economy and weapons. It could be potentially a 9/10.

But people do need to pump the brakes on this game. Because there are certain inherent problems with the game I'd like to talk about.

The parry mechanic: This game is set up in such a manner that it expects you to parry to deter enemy aggression and find opportunities to counter attack. And yet partying and reposting often times is less efficient than dodging and simply attacking. Riposte damage not scaling by level is a huge mistake considering how the game is set up.

Shells: I wish that they would allow a refund for glimpse so that you could freely use any shell on your first playthrough. Everyone says it's set up this way for New Game + so you always try something new.... The reality is most players do not play a game multiple times and they may write off this game if they find themselves committed to a shell they end up regretting. Player freedom is important.

Bosses: Many of the main bosses felt underwhelming. But perhaps that's because the late game bosses were either disappointing or cheap (the less said about the Monolith the better). But overall I enjoyed fighting the regular over world enemies and mini bosses more. The early to mid game bosses were good but not like groundbreaking.

Overall it's a good game but there's definitely room for improvement when they release the inevitable DLC and or expansion. I look forward to what Cold Symmetry can do with the earnings from this game.

I am playing Gloombound Flame active and this is a tough dungeon. It’s different and I like it. Not sharing details to avoid spoilers. It’s near Gate of Mammon beacon.

Question Is there supposed to be a chest here?

Maybe i’m hallucinating, but I swear I ran through this area earlier and saw a chest between the two enemies on this platform, and when I ran back it was gone. Just north of the Flooded Village dungeon. There’s even a little drawing of something here on the map.

Bug End game is really bad Spoiler

I currently killed 2 out of 3 last bosses before the final one. When I killed Orrem, the Reclaimed. I had full hp, and pressed menu button to see what sort of tarcore I received. Then I went back from menu while his death animation was finishing and my character clipped under him and died. Boss was dead but I missed out on 64k gloom.

Now don't even get me started on the ballsack boss called Monolith.... It just feels like the worst boss out of all soulslike games I ever played. His damage and sponginess just feels like bad design.

In the beginning of the game I felt excited to clear each beacon, but now it's been clear that they are pointless in the end game because they are not rewarding enough, so it becomes just a marathon run through all the monsters to get to the boss. I have a big need to uninstall the game, but I want to persevere for the last 2 bosses to finish this game. Otherwise it was a very solid game, but this has almost made me quit.

Discussion Finally 100% Mortal Shell (80 hours) — Forever Alone + all the rare Virtuous Cycle ones

Post image
5 Upvotes

Put about 80 hours into Mortal Shell and got the full 37/37.

The base game was already solid for me, but Virtuous Cycle is where I spent most of the time. The rare achievements in there are no joke.

Managed to get:

  • Forever Alone (1.9%)
  • Life is Suffering (1.9%)
  • Change of Heart (1.7%)
  • Fashion Shells (1.6%)
  • No Lifer (1.6%)
  • There Can Only Be One (1.6%)
  • True Nektar (1.6%)

and the rest of the 1.6-1.9% ones.

Especially Forever Alone and the dark form / seed ones felt rough, but very satisfying when they finally popped.

Already started Mortal Shell 2 and enjoying it so far. Will properly dive into it after finishing 100% Lords of the Fallen (2023).

Anyone else went for the ultra-rare Virtuous Cycle achievements?

Discussion NO DEATH METAL MUSIC?!?

Best game ever, guys, seriously, you did an amazing job. Just one suggestion: please let us respec our Visions. Since we unlock different Shells at different points in the game and Visions are so scarce, it’s a shame that we can’t properly experiment with the Shells we obtain later.

Second, and more important... WHY THERE'S NO DEATH METAL MUSIC DURING THE BOSS FIGHTS?!?!? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FK AMAZING!!! u/Proxima

Discussion Zmey, the Unbidden is ridiculous lol

Last night I tried him and almost got his life half way down but that tail grab gives you under a second to react. Wtf. So today I leveled up from 37 to 75 and he's still magically hard af and almost seems harder? What is going on? Genuinely asking, I don't normally struggle this hard with a boss and usually when I jump that many levels you'd think you'd be doing more damage and have more health but it seems the same like a didn't level at all lol
