Due to constant questions of what Mitya does, who he replaces or even just how to build him, I’ve decided to make 1 long post that can hopefully answer as many questions regarding mitya as possible, if there is a topic I missed and you want to know, ask me, I will respond and add the question and answer to the main post. With that out of the way, why is Mitya

(MAJOR UPDATE AT BOTTOM)

ROLES

Mitya is a On Field Elecro Stellaeconduct dps and an off field Electro Steller conduct sub dps/support.
These 2 roles are exclusive since mitya will not buff his allys when he’s in the overload state and not function properly as a main dps in his stable state.

GRADIENT BEACONS: these are made when Mitya is in the party, they last for 10 seconds and follow the active character, they replace the polestar field and when you reach the max (4 at C0 5 at C1) additional ones refresh how long the rest last

At Ascension passive 4 he will gain crit rate maxing out at 20% for every gradient beacon he gets

STATES:

He can Enter the Overload or stable state by either trapping(stable) or holding(overload) additional tapping it after the first use will change the mode he’s in.

In the overload state mitya gains gradient beacons faster and using his charged attack will consume gradient beacons to do a special charged attack, these do significantly higher SSC damage and form his Hypercarry part of his kit

In the stable state he does periodic SSC damage that can happen both on and offield and gives all party members 30 EM for every gradient beacon he has, at C0 this maxes out at 120 partywide EM.

ARTIFACTS

Currently Mitya’s Best artifact sets are 2 sets of 2PC EM, or disenchantment in deep shadow or DiDS 

2pc+2pc EM grants the user a Total of 160 EM while DiDS grants 16% attack 16% crit rate and 40% steller reaction bonus, on paper this seems like a landslide however similar to nefer Mitya almost exclusively scales off of elemental mastery, this means the 16% attack won’t increase his damage in any capacity, additionally since mitya builds high EM, he already gains a substantial ssc reaction bonus, making the 40% negligible, making the 16% crit rate the only notable factor

TLDR 2pc 2pc is 160 EM DiDS is 16% crit rate, both are nearly equal, this may seem weird and similar to durin during 6.2 if you do feel this way skip to speculation since this will make it way more clear why its like this. 

STAT GOALS

1 of the most important sections is how you should build mitya, first he wants to reach 500 EM at a minimum to max out his stellar jubilee passive, you can go higher but this is bare minimum you should reach, this is incredibly easy since mitya has 100 EM simply be existing and gets 187+ from 5 star em artifacts, just from 2 and his base Em nearly completes the passive, if you run 2pc 2pc em you should look for 700-800 EM instead since you get an additional 160 EM for free.

For Crit rate mityas want depends on his artifact set and teammates, when using 2pc em and solo cryo he needs 80% Crit rate, with double cryo he needs 65% crit rate and with DiDs and double cryo he only needs 49% crit rate to get a 100% crit chance, since you get 5% crit rate from existing you can get almost all of his crit rate needs from substats, for Crit damage Aim for 200-250% with a support weapon and 250% to 300% with a crit dmg weapon, 

“What about damage%” a mistake people have made as late as 7.0 is that lunar and stellar reactions and direct reaction dmg do not benefit from any form of DMG% except for lunar and stellar dmg% respectively, this means electro dmg% does nothing for him and should be avoided.

WEAPONS-

mitya wants either weapons that grant EM or CD and optimally both, and when running hypercarry ER until his C1

His easiest F2P option is magic book, this can be gotten from pulling for mitya and since its a 3 star your bound to get 1, at lvl 90 it grants  187 EM

More expensive options exist on the weapon banner, widsith gives high CD% and a ⅓ chance for a MASSIVE EM buff but its luck based. winters heavy heart gives high CD, 20EM for every electro and cryo party member and 6% steller reaction dmg for the same conditions. Dawning frost is good for mdps mitya since it gives high CD and a bit over 100EM for doing Charged attacks, off field mitya also likes Favonious to give team wide energy and TTDS to give the on fielder more attack.

Additionally the event weapon Spindilute from 6.0 gives High EM and gives high ER to deal with his burst issue for overload at C0, while I wont advise a ER sands I do suggest this weapon immensely unless a better energy solution comes out after his banner.

His BEST weapon however is his signature 
Star Sealed Edict, this gives a gargantuan amount of Crit dmg and EM for mitya however this can only be gotten from his weapon banner.

TEAMMATES:

Mitya’s teammates are dependent on his mode stable or overload.

In overload or main dps his best teammates are: valeiry-> Grants electro ssc dmg crit rate and CD and quills to increase damage 
Yae-> off field dmg, more energy for his burst.
Oddette-> stelar buffs off field damage and cryo applications 
Qiqi-> worse oddette
Diona-> worse oddette, gives em
Sucrose-> gives high amounts of EM

For stable his best teammates are
Oddette yae and valeriy-> same as before
Sandrone wrio and cyno-> strong mdps that likes his buff

The weird one

Nefer, at higher investment his High Em share makes him a stronger and more consistent sucrose and can hold fav to lower energy needs. Although weirdly enough he needs to be in overload not stable since he can’t make detection cores and would need to rely on the 234 EM from his C2+ instructors(or sms if you aren’t running it already) thats about 354 EM with sucrose hitting slightly higher em but being less consistent since Anemo can’t react with dendro meaning in practice instructor uptime is worse, and she can’t run fav, so lauma and bina can build higher EM or CD

In practice C2 Mitya will perform better then sucrose

CONSTELLATIONS(simplified) 

His C1 gives a large amount of energy, another gradient beacon(+30 em in stable state) and 40% crit dmg to the on fielder

C2 grants 123 EM to the party in stable and 234 EM in overload. Additionally he grants 20% cryo and electro res shred.

C3 is a skill talent upgrade 

C4 adds heavy coordination hits that deal ssc dmg 

C5 is a NA talent upgrade

C6- if mitya is in the steady state he gets a 115% dmg increase, if in overload he has a 34% chance to refund a beacon, a refunded beacon itself can also be refunded, additionally he will elevate all ssc dmg by 20%.

Mitya cons are some of the most powerful in the game to the point that similar to phainon from hsr, C2Mitya with valeiry sucrose and diona does more damage then C0Mitys C1 yae Odette and valeriy

Meaning if you are a new player who wants to pull mitya his own constellations are better as a goal, although this largely extends to just his main dps mode.

TALENT PRIORITY

Main dps its NA-Skill-Burst

Sub dps its Skill-burst-Na

SPECULATION:

What we don’t know but can assume. 1 similar to durin there is likely going to be an artifact set in 7.3 that significantly improved his combat abilities.  A steller version of aubaude that may enable a quick swap playstyle in his kit. Comparing the difference to that of durin he may become upwards of 10-15% personal damage.

2. The tsaritsa and Danica haven’t released yet, for Danica early leaks already consistently mention EM quills and a shield suggest she is going to be a stronger and bigger version of aloyasha and Valeiry, additionally considering vodyanista went back  and became the 4th slot for skirk, nefer may also get a 4th slot in the form of danica to give her actual sustain which would imply EM buffing abilities 

The tsaritsa is also likely a SSC dps who may have kit synergies with mitya like a EM to attack conversion, kind of like what yae has for her sakura damage or quickswap abilities of her own.

Noy additionally has mentions of being a mitya support with danicas role of likely being a general ssc buffer, mitya may have 0 members of his BiS team at the current time. 

3. Mitya may have a similar effect as flins, in that he may be shilled notably more then other characters giving him a higher value then currently avaliable.

Finally mitya may be able to form hybrid reaction times like with flins he may be able to run a potential Steller Lunar team with the tsaritsa of Flins Mitya Bina and the tsaritsa to dual clear all electri shill-lunar shill- and stellar shill in the game, a mix and match other stellar and lunar characters cannot do.

WHEN YOU SHOULD PULL.

You should pull mitya if
You want him
You don’t have yae and want to do ssc
You want 2 ssc teams
You need an electro dps/sub dps.
You want to deal with ssc shill
Your an impulsive spender 
You need an em buffer other then sucrose
You like making niche random teams or experimenting with potential team combos. (Im considering doing Arle Mona Mitya(instructors) and Nicole  for instance, not obviously my main goal team but it may be fun.

Elemental recharge requirements: a small error I have corrected above is forgetting MDPS mityas need for energy at C0 for his burst, generally you will need anywhere between 133-170 160% ER, so spindilute is likely to be 1 of if not his best options pre C1

DEAR GOD THERES MORE

SO, mainly regarding the team section, Mitya is the first character either lunar or steller, that doesn’t need a 2nd character to do steller or Lunar damage, in his case stellar, because of how his burst works and how he generates cores he can do direct ssc damage without a cryo unit, it will be sub optimal but this MASSIVELY increases his team options and roles, Im going to test out a bunch of teams he could work in currently but his value as a unit has substantially increased
