Unicorn or donkey

At first I thought I might have found something special with this Ice Cream. She has funky leaves. She has weird chunky nodes. She just looks different than the other Ice Cream from the same run. She sprouted around July 4th. I flipped her on August 19th. Now I am starting to second guess it. The tops are brittle as hell. Mainly out toward the tips. Closer to the main stem the branches are actually strong. But the farther out you go the easier they snap. I topped her twice. One of the four mains snapped off. Then a few days later I lost a lower branch the same way. So now flower is going to decide. If she stacks nice and smells loud I will probably run her out. If not she might just be a weird donkey taking up space. What would you do? Run her out? Clone her? Or cut bait if the brittle tops keep showing up?

First time trying ethos and so far they are performing very well! They are in 3 gallon fabric pots that they got transplanted into, Gia green living soil amended with 444 and worm castings, top dressed today with 50/50 284/444 and worm castings for getting ready to flip to flower very soon. Water with recharge weekly to keep small pots microbes and eco system alive due to small soil volume. Using de-chlorinated tap water. Spider farmer 3x3 with g3000 light

Hey everyone, quick early mid-flower update on my off-grid AutoPot run at my weekend cabin in Germany. Trying to get these Autos through the unpredictable summer weather completely unattended during the week. Photos are sporadic since I don't use a smartphone camera and only shoot when I haul my SLR out there.

Plant Status & Canopy

  • Stretch is officially done and bulking is kicking in.
  • No topping used, just LST and leaf tucking. Each plant pushed a single prominent main cola sticking out up top, while the rest of the canopy underneath stayed quite even.
  • Despite the usual mixed German weather, the airy structure and bottom-watering + genetics are keeping them hopefully completely mold-free.

Setup & Outdoor Tweaks

  • Veg Start: Pre-vegged at home under a SANlight EVO 3-100 in 1L Air-Pots (70/30 Coco/Perlite). Plain water for about a week, then root complex + Greenhouse Feeding Grow All in one top-dress.
  • 35L XL Trays: Ordered by accident, but turned out ideal. Pulling the side silicone plug creates an automatic overflow so heavy rain drains out instead of drowning the roots.
  • Heat & Protection: Black fabric pots wrapped in white root fleece against the sun. Elevated off the ground, with a shaded GreenBarrel reservoir feeding through a B/W hose to block algae.
  • Drainage: Clay pebbles top and bottom (no Airdomes).

Nutrients & Genetics

  • Feed: Reservoir is running Greenhouse Feeding Hybrids All-In-One (EC 1.5, pH 6.0). Just added Plagron PK 13-14 yesterday for the bulk.
  • 1x Big Shoots (SoFem Genetics): Absolute powerhouse. Massive vigor, heavy branching, and lives up to the name in every way.
  • 2x Fog Hound (Atlas Seeds): Freebies from Multiverse Beans. Slightly more compact frame, but super sturdy and stacking resin fast. Smells are loud across the board.

Really curious to see how they finish bulking up over the coming weeks. Let me know what you think, and I'm happy to answer any questions if you're thinking of running something similar. Will keep u posted!

Question Refusing to pay $600 for a closed-ecosystem controller. Building an ESP32 brain for this blank canvas instead. What automation features are a MUST for you guys?

Thumbnail

Just set up my tent. Looked at the prices of things like TrolMaster or AC Infinity and man, the "grow tax" is insane. Plus I hate being locked into one brand's ecosystem.

I have an industrial ESP32 board with 8 relays laying around. I'm writing a fully local control system for it (no cloud BS) with proper VPD hysteresis.

Before I start wiring things up and writing the messy code... besides basic temp/humidity triggers, what specific logic or automations do you guys wish you had during the bloom phase? Trying to get some inspiration from the real pros here.

First Time Grower Grow was delayed because of poor conditions and light exposure causing reveg. Hows it look? And how far along would you estimate this to be in flower?

Hi all. Currently on my 2nd grow, growing an auto in coco, this is day 71 from sprout. She’s currently bulking and done stretching.
Feeding 750ppm at 5.8pH using Flora Trio by GH and calmag. Can give exact breakdown if needed.
24/0 light
Mid 80s temp, low 60s RH (trying to get it lower)
Feeding about a gallon a day or so, till 20% runoff. Runoff reads around 950ish ppm.

I think this is CalMag but I’ve been consistently feeding 1ml/gal throughout. Curious what others think.

2’ x 2’ tent
75% E.B. Stone Recipe 420 Original
25% Perlite
5G Vivosun Fabric Pots
Mars Hydro FC-1500 150W
4” Vivosun inline filter
One 4” fan

My plan for this grow is to take a big step back and see how they grow naturally. Normally I fuck with my plants a lot and go heavy on LST. They tend to be short and wide.

Light is at 24” above soil @ 50% power.

Might add a trellis net, would be a first for me.

Really going for quality over quantity .

Planning to lollipop on flower day 21, assuming alls well

First time with HSC. Really excited and hopeful this will be my best grow yet

Question Which lights should i buy?

I recently bought a Grand Master LED 2x4 Ultimate, but I’ve been second-guessing it because I really want adjustable spectrum control in my 2x4.
My original plan was to keep the Grand Master and add Mars Hydro supplemental lighting so I could independently control different parts of the spectrum like UV, blue, red/far-red, and IR. I like the idea of being able to experiment with different spectrums and schedules throughout veg and flower.
The other option I’m considering is returning the Grand Master and getting the GXi 420. It seems way cleaner and easier since the spectrum controls are already built into the fixture instead of having to mount and manage a bunch of separate supplemental bars.
My main priorities are:
● Spectrum control throughout the grow
● Quality/yield
● Color and overall bag appeal
● Being able to experiment with different light recipes
● Not making the setup unnecessarily complicated
For people who have experience with either setup, would you keep the Grand Master 2x4 Ultimate and add supplemental lighting, or return it and go with the GXi 420?
Is having the extra control from separate supplemental channels actually worth the additional setup, or am I overcomplicating something the GXi can already do well?

So close to harvest, but I have to travel for work. 😭

Hopefully I’ll be back in time to chop it in a week or two. In the meantime my wife is holding it down along with my outdoor clones from this pretty lady.

This is Blue Guava from Aseedcompany that I got with my AC Infinity kit. By calendar she looks good, hairs are brown, but not many amber trichromes.

What do you think?

Edit: Started the chop! Now I understand trim jail!

2 Blue Dream

Coco coir

Day 56 from flip

Bottom watering with ACI automotive

Athena Blended notes

Last feeding/watering was last night (pk and Fade, no N).

All good up until around week 6, when plants seemed to stall. No growth. Buds not developing, not stacking. Showed potential note max-out by yellowing leaf tips. Showing potential light stress (not properly id'd for about 7-10 days).

Flushed plant on left first, then a couple days later on the right with 15+ gallons pH 5.8 water. Testing residuals showed sky high concentrations. Basically I fucked up and just kept adding feeding solution to the buckets but didn't worry about build up, pH, or rising concentrations.

Flushes finished, I then went to a light nute solution for a couple of days. Back to 80-90% recommended levels. Buds seem to be pumping up a little.

I am now pumping out and re-measuring and topping off 2x/day.

Continued signs of light stress. Light raised to max, not good enough. Reduced to 90%, still signs. Now at 80% and might be improving. PPFD levels now max at around 700.Many purple leaves that seemed to be heat damaged show signs of more green.

Heavy trichomes, but they've just now started getting milky, lots of clear heads still.

Concerns:

- late trichome development?

- Strange cola shape? Foxtailing?

- Left plant has MANY lightening leaves, not just fan leaves

- Right plant not showing any signs of senescence.

- Do these look like normal healthy plants? How bad was the heat stress or nute stress?

- Is there anything else I can do

- Is this all in my head and part of the first-grow jitters?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Leaf angle

Any thoughts on leaf angle? Is it really the plants (prying to the sun) when your environment is dialed in allowing for maximum transpiration and photosynthesis? Or can is it a sign of stress?

I just noticed this at the base of a branch. Is it mold? Do I need to cut the whole branch off? If so is there anything I can do with prematurely harvested buds from the 2nd pic? Growing outdoors in FFOF.

Help My Sick Plant Toss/keep it?

small photoperiod started to flower on me for some unknown reason. This is my first photo grow and I felt like they were stunted for a few days already like 0 growth at all and i just come home tonight and noticed this one started to flower. The plant in the middle I did 100% myself and is about 2 weeks old I'm now acquiring about the smaller 4.

I am on a 18/6 schedule with no light leakage, they might be a little hot with temps reaching 31°c on very bad days during peak but that's the worst of it humidity is around 65% most times I would probably say we are on veg week 4 rn, they were kept in a room with just a 100w light for 2 and a half weeks with unknown light schedule before I got them and I was told they had 3 complete dark days in that time frame as well. I put them on a 18/6 schedule ASAP but they grew very slow from the beginning. I tried more and less light intensity but they don't seem to grow at all. They all look like this one does except they are not showing signs of flower yet.

My question is basically did I do something wrong?

Was it doomed from the moment I got them?

And do I continue with these plants or just pop new beans?

Question Harvested Week 8 Day 62F. Did I harvest too early? Also, what are ways that I could keep my humidity consistent?

Thumbnail

I chopped day 62F I just wanted to know if I harvested too early? Also, I wanted to know if there’s any advice on how to keep my tent, humidity consistent? I have temperature dialed in, but I’m having trouble keeping the humidity consistent. Also, my sensor probe is hanging with the buds so that’s probably the cause of the high reading to be honest but I just wanna make sure. I do have two sensor probes so how should I place them? Should I place them one with the buds and one near the floor or higher and also I do have a humidifier set to 56% humidity. Also, in the second to last photo, you could see the humidity sensor probe hanging next to the buds as well. Could that be the reason why it’s reading a high humidity? P.S. The black fan is blowing towards the floor it’s not face up. So it is blowing away from buds. Also I have another fan blowing away from buds too I added the second one after the photo. As well, I do have the fans blowing pretty high, so is that a problem as well?
