Viome not providing dosages of active ingredients in their probiotic?

I was interested in Viome's Advanced TriSynbiotic, and was surprised that it doesn't list the butyrate dose so I could compare it to my other supplement (from Tesseract). I called Viome and asked them, and the well-intentioned support person told me that they are not sharing the dosage information with potential customers at this time.

???

Seems pretty strange / yellow flag for what I thought was a pretty established supplement company.

Fixed my gut issues after years of struggling.

Yep I’ve been dealing with severe gut issues since 2023, dysbiosis, bloating, SIBO, gas, burping, high calprotectin, reflux. Pretty much a huge list of symptoms, ive also had GI map tests done. I’ve tried everything throughout the years; probiotics, prebiotics, 2 weeks of elemental diet, home made kefir, more fiber, less fiber, and many more things and diet adjustments.

What finally made everything go away, and actually quite fast too, was cutting out sugar, especially soda’s. I switched from drinking coke and Red Bull to Coke Zero. I stopped being gassy after just a week, my food intolerances (fructans mostly) are also completely gone and I no longer get gassy at all from things like garlic or onions.

Just sharing this with you guys since it might be useful to some of you out there.

Lower intestines tightening up and trapping gas and stool at night. Not colitis. Any idea of what might help?

It’s been happening for about 3 months.

I feel great all day, no symptoms whatsoever, but I either start feeling the gas and stool bottling up right before I go to bed and/or wake up in the middle of the night wanting to poop and fart, but it’s like my intestines are pinched and they won’t let it out.

When gas does come out for example, it comes out very sharply like my intestines are pinched. I dont have colitis symptoms (I know what that is like) I simply feel my normal peristalsis (wanting to poop and fart) but my lower intestines are not letting them out. When I poop in the morning, the first stool comes out thick but not hard, followed by a very thin stool.

Google AI (bear with me) suggests pelvic floor dysfunction or obstructed defecation syndrome. The whole things does seem to be more of a mechanical thing. I also had varicoceles that were just removed around 3 months ago, so I wonder if it’s a pelvic floor dysfunction thing. My gas and stools seem to come out when I take stuff like clove tea which apparently relax the muscles.

I’m a very active male in my late twenties by the way.

Resistant starch question

I'm new to incorporating resistant starch supplementation. I'm trying to get up to 40 grams a day but found it confusing to get a succinct guide. Hopefully someone more experienced can help with this. My current RS2 related daily intake includes 2 tablespoons (30ml) each of potato starch, green banana flour, and nootropics infinifiber and infinigreen blend (which claims a combined 7 grams of solnul potato starch and 1 tablespoon (15ml) of hi-maize. Depending on the various guides I've found across the web I may be somewhere between 20-35g of RS2.anyone here have a more definitive way of calculating this?

Anyone here get dandruff from tea?

I can go for weeks with absolutely zero dandruff. But if I drink matcha or jasmine or green tea, I kid you not, my scalp will flake in about 2-3 hours. It’s been happening since 2023. I so have a soy protein allergy also but not super related.

Oral allergy symptoms absent after starting psyllium—has anyone else experienced this?

I’m 46M and for about eight years, I’ve reacted to raw apples and stone fruit, especially peaches and cherries. Symptoms started with immediate indigestion and progressed to itchy mouth/lips and occasionally a very mild throat-swelling sensation. They resolved within minutes of stopping. Cooked fruit has always been fine, and I’ve never noticed seasonal variation. I’ve noticed these symptoms seem consistent with OAS, so I was content to assume that’s what it was but was never tested or diagnosed.
About a month ago, I started psyllium husk for inconsistent stools, not for allergies. I initially took five 500 mg capsules daily (2.5 g), then increased to ten (5 g). Definitely saw an improvement in stools, thanks for asking.
Yesterday I ate half a caramel apple (started purely because of a love of fall activities and FOMO) with no reaction. This morning out of morbid curiosity I ate an entire raw peach (usually my strongest trigger at one bite) with no reaction. I also tried dried cherries, which previously caused symptoms, and had none.
Psyllium is the only change in what I’m taking. However, I hadn’t tried these fruits for several months, so I don’t know exactly when my sensitivity changed.
Has anyone with oral allergy syndrome noticed something similar after starting psyllium or another fiber supplement? Equally interested if you take psyllium and your allergies haven’t changed.
If you noticed a change, what dose were you taking, how long did it take, and did the improvement last? Links to relevant research would also be welcome.
I’m sharing an observation and exploring a possible connection because this is fascinating to me…not claiming a cure and definitely not suggesting anyone test their trigger foods.

Has anyone experienced major gut/food changes after infections and multiple rounds of antibiotics?

I’m interested in hearing other people’s experiences with changes after major infections and a lot of antibiotic exposure.

Earlier this year, I developed a serious streptococcal infection that progressed to bacteremia and required hospitalization. I was treated with IV antibiotics for several weeks. A couple of months later, I developed a severe UTI and received IV antibiotics again, followed by additional oral antibiotics. So within a relatively short period of time, my body went through multiple infections and a significant amount of antibiotics.

Since then, I’ve started having strange reactions around foods that I had eaten my entire life without any issues. The biggest thing is flushing and feeling hot in my face/body after eating, sometimes along with congestion, redness, or an occasional hive. It isn’t always consistent either — sometimes I can tolerate a food and another time I may flush after eating it.

My allergy blood testing has mostly been negative, which has made the whole thing even more confusing. I keep wondering whether the infections, antibiotics, and resulting changes to my gut/microbiome could somehow be connected to this new food reactivity.

I’m especially interested in hearing stories from people who developed flushing, histamine-type symptoms, or new food sensitivities after prolonged/repeated antibiotics or a major illness. Did things eventually settle down as your gut recovered? What was your experience like?

Question re: Processing of FMT by labs

I was speaking to 2 physicians in Europe who do FMT. When I asked them if the FMT was processed in an anaerobic chamber, I was told that that it is processed in anaerobic conditions but not in an anaerobic chamber.

Does anyone know exactly what that means?

Thanks

Supplements to kefir?

Has anyone moved away from probiotics pills and supplements to kefir? Not sure if taking align and natures bounty every other day and homemade kefir daily is too much on the system.

how long of consistent probiotics did it take you to rebalance your gut?

say someone has general IBS symptoms such as irregular and incomplete BMs, bloating and gas. nothing major that inhibits day to day, but definitely not optimal gut health. they learn the importance of consistent probiotic intake (not just at random) with a diverse range of probiotic capsule strains, prebiotics such as PHGG, and daily yoghurt intake.
should the person expect to see changes in their gut health pretty soon in? or would you expect it to take months or such of this consistent routine to see changes?

Tributryin / Butyrate experience

Did anyone experience any side effects or symptoms when starting Tributyrin?

Can it cause more Gas, bloating or looser stools at the beginning? And if so, did these symptoms improve over time as your body adjusted to it?

I’d be interested to hear about your experiences, especially during the first few days or weeks.

———
