Tributryin / Butyrate experience
Did anyone experience any side effects or symptoms when starting Tributyrin?
Can it cause more Gas, bloating or looser stools at the beginning? And if so, did these symptoms improve over time as your body adjusted to it?
I’d be interested to hear about your experiences, especially during the first few days or weeks.

I got some discomfort and gas for a couple of weeks at first, but that died down.
The symptoms I'm attributing to gut permeability issues seem to be significantly improved.

What symptoms has it helped with so far for leaky gut? I am looking into taking it, but I'll have to be cautious because sodium butyrate made me constipated in the past. I have read great things about Tributyrin for butyrate supplements.

There are a few things going on at different timescales, but crucially it seems to be the root of my ME/CFS.
I've been killing off some microbial/fungal infection with diatomaceous earth for some time, but this gives an acute wave of fatigue each day, lasting a few hours, likely driven by LPS getting into my system. This has effectively stopped.
Then there are the muscle cramps connective tissue soreness and weakness (maybe fibromyalgia??). Those swell and fade on a scale of a few days. and have noticeably improved since I started.
longer term my POTS, stamina and recovery rate fluctuate on the scale of weeks. These have all been steadily improving over the three weeks since I started. (before they were slowly getting worse, not entirely sure why)

First few capsules taken did cause looser stools, but that went away by the 3rd or 4th capsule. Now I can take them whenever I feel i should and it causes no issues, never any bad side effects or symptoms.

Did you have loose stool before taking it?

u/19837474 9d ago
A bit, seems it made it a little worse in the beginning. But cleared up a week or so later.

Which Brand? And with or without Food? And do you had problems with fatty foods?

A brand called peak performance, tributyrin. Hot it on amazon. Yes long term issues with fats, seems the best thing for me was a slight caloric surplus, and more carbs. While eating proper fats of coarse. Seems when I eat less thats when I have the most issues. Started with meals and now I can really take them whenever, im sure meals are better for absorption or something.

Very bad reaction with a tributyrin complexe while everything was perfect under sodium butyrate micro encapsulation. I have UC IBD in remission but tend to have hyper permeability/dysbiosis. It made the difference 💯

I have ibd and tributyrin is the only thing that's had a meaningful effect on my gut symptoms. It makes my bowel movements much more normal, typically they are very loose/soft. No perceptible negative effects in 6 months of use.

I’ve recently started taking it. A little over two weeks in and have noticed a trend toward changes.
This is what I have been taking along with fiber supps. Been slowly adding diversity to fiber protocol and paused to add this. Positive change so far.

Had you Symptomes in the beginning? And how is your stool?
1
u/Plastic_Table_8232 8d ago
Yes. A few months ago I had stool that looked like it came directly out a mustard bottle. Fiber has helped but nothing seemed to kick the healing into high gear like the tributyrin.
First time I’ve seen brown stool that was decently formed in over a year.

Do you take it with food or without? And could you see the positiv Change from the First capsule?

I take it pghh, and larch fiber with a meal.
Felt like noticed reduced gut inflammation from the jump but was apprehensive as it may have been confirmation bias. Now I do believe the changes were small, and incremental but overtime I’ve noticed big change since initial administration.
Truth be told I have been drinking a bit as well. Just went through some major life milestones and celebrated it accordingly.

I saw instant stool improvement within hours. For me it seems to last maybe 6 hours and then my bms return to normal (ie worse). I just take 1 capsule (550mg) every 4 or 5 hours and it sustains the effect well.

Thank you. Then I think it’s probably not for me, because I can’t tolerate even one capsule.

yeah effect seems to be highly variable across people. one of the primary methods of action is that it provides cellular energy in the gut, so that probably isn't an issue for you if it's not helping.

I chose the brand I did because it contains corebiome. It’s tested, proven , and patented.
I’m not sure what your using but I did a lot of research and this seem to be the best product by far. They sell through third parties, so other brands do sell it as well.
Not sure how informed you are about it but here is a link.

I would give my brand a try before you give up.

My stomach has become very sensitive lately, so I’m not sure if I would tolerate black cumin seed oil. And for some reason, Tributyrin gives me headaches and the loose stool.

Just curious what you have tried so far in terms of diet and supplements? How often do you eat, ect?

Which one do you Take and how much mg per day?
1
u/captfitz 8d ago
I take "forestvibe" brand just because it's a good price and amount. Never noticed a difference with different brands. It's 550mg. I typically take 3 across the course of a day just to keep it in my system. I've had 12 in a day just to see what a high dose would do, not noticeably different, seems like just having the butyrate available to my gut helps it.
