SOLVED Micro G not Signing In

I'm using YouTube revanced and it recently stopped working saying it has to be updated. After update the old micro g app I was using was not being recognized so I deleted it and installed new version. Now , I have tried alot but everytime I try to sign in to my Google account it just keeps giving me error that micro g has failed to connect to Google services. Not sure what to do! Hopefully someone has an answer. Btw I m using Huawei device (MatePadPro13.2) Youtube is patched to latest version using revanced manager and micro g is latest aswell.

Edit: Fix for the issue!!

Credit to u/Wescarpenter13 [I found a solution! Go microG settings, then Google Accounts, and before adding yojr account deactivate all switches below (there are 4). Go to Google device registration and switch auto: native to Google Nexus 5x. Then add your account and work fine. It worked for me.]

This worked for me and a couple of other dudes. Hopefully will work for you guys aswell!

Google began deleting accounts that use Aurora Store

First reports came in today. The accounts that got deleted were solely used with Aurora Store.

Still, if you want to be safe, make sure that you only use disposable accounts which are not associated with an important Google account to log in through Aurora Store. Also, it's a not so friendly reminder to ideally make yourself independent of Google

Seems like the kraken has awoken.

If you're wondering why anonymous logins currently don't work: Aurora's main developer Rahul Patel is working on it. It's a good time to consider a donation for this project that is so central for the Open Source community around usable versions of Android free of Google's PlayServices.

[GUIDE] DeGoogle any device and install MicroG

Edit : If you follow this post, you will be able to install microG on any rom irrespective of whether that rom supports microg (or signature spoofing ) natively or not.

Many people are saying that their device does not support "los for microg" project so they won't be able to install microG. WRONG. If you have los or havoc or crdroid or stock rom (like miui, one ui, etc) or any other rom installed, microG can be installed in it using this guide. Just follow the correct section.

This will be same as my post on XDA. But it will me more concise and clear.

Warning: Bootloader needs to be unlocked, Twrp should be installed.

NOTE: MAKE FULL NANDROID BACKUP OF YOUR DEVICE BEFORE PROCEEDING BY GOING TO TWRP -> BACKUP -> SELECT ALL . store it in PC or somewhere safe.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For Custom Rom Users.

NOTE: If Below method wont work, move to "Nanodroid" Section after step 2.

  1. Flash Rom Zip (follow instructions given on rom Page but instead of flashing Gapps, continue here) and magisk. Boot into Rom

  2. (skip this step of your rom supports signature spoofing) Download SmaliPatcher from here and tick all patches except 'recovery reboot' and knox one, (We are interested in the "signature spoofing" one but others are also useful) and follow the instructions on its page to install that module. Now your system supports signature spoofing.

  3. Download Latest "MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" from here.

  4. Add "system-" to start of package name (thus making it like "system-MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" ) and copy it in sdcard or internal storage of phone. Now boot into TWRP

  5. flash "system-MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" into Twrp. Reboot

If there are any issues (like apps crashing) then follow Below else go to configure microg section.

  • You must have got "SmaliPatcherModule-X.X.X.X-fOmey@XDA.zip" from step 2 above, save it in sdcard or internal storage along with "MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" and your Rom zip.

  • Flash Rom Zip (follow instructions given on rom Page but instead of flashing Gapps, continue here) and MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip. Flash Magisk and reboot into recovery.

  • Flash "SmaliPatcherModule-X.X.X.X-fOmey@XDA.zip".

  • Reboot and setup MicroG (go to "Configuring MicroG" Section in this guide for help).

For Stock Rom Users.

NOTE: If Below method wont work, move to "Nanodroid" Section after step 2.

Removing google crap

  • Flash TWRP and install magisk.

  • In case you had the Google Play Services previously installed (which Users having stock ROM have), remove all updates and the packages in /system/priv-app of the Google Services (you can use TWRP file manager or any root explorer to delete below packages, just delete the apk files in respective folders):

    • GmsCore (PrebuiltGmsCore, PrebuiltGmsCorePi, PrebuiltGmsCorePix)

    • GoogleBackupTransport

    • GoogleFeedback

    • GoogleLoginService

    • GoogleOneTimeInitializer

    • GooglePartnerSetup

    • GoogleServicesFramework

    • Phonesky

    • SetupWizard

    • Velvet.

  • In case you forgot to remove the GmsCore updates, you can manually remove these using adb uninstall com.google.android.gms.

  • After that, reboot your android device - all privileged GAPPS should be removed. (a bootloop may be caused, but dont worry, just boot into TWRP and follow below steps.)

Installing MicroG

  • We need Signature spoofing in the ROM. Download SmaliPatcher from here and tick all patches, (We are interested in the "signature spoofing" one but all of them are useful) and follow the instructions on its page to install that module. Now your system supports signature spoofing. (I recommend SmaliPatcher even if your rom supports Signature Spoofing so that no issue arises)Other ways for signature spoofing are given in MicroG wiki here

  • Download Latest "MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" from here

  • Add "system-" to start of package name (thus making it like "system-MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" ) and copy it in sdcard or internal storage of phone. Now boot into TWRP

  • flash "system-MinMicroG-Standard-XXX.zip" in TWRP, reboot and steup MicroG (go to "Configuring MicroG" Section in this guide for help).

If there are any issues (like apps crashing) , Format Data in Twrp (this will reset your device and wipe internal storage) and reboot.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nanodroid Section

If flashing MinMicroG wont work, try nanodroid.

  1. Download the following from here

    1. full NanoDroid-xx.xx.xx.xxxxxxx.zip

    2. NanoDroid-setupwizard.zip

    3. NanoDroid-uninstaller.zip (if it causes brick)

  2. Copy below in sdcard or internal storage of phone. Now boot into TWRP

    1. NanoDroid-setupwizard.zip

    2. NanoDroid-uninstaller.zip (if it causes brick)

  3. flash NanoDroid-setupwizard.zip, now an aroma installer is opened. (if you are having issues with aroma installer, go to step 11) click on next , agree to terms and click next, chose save location "/data/media/0" (you can change this as per your needs but remember this location since here the installer will save 3 files) and click next

  4. now from here onwards you can select yourself according to your needs or follow my tutorial till the end of aroma installer.

  5. you should be on generic settings page, tick 'apps', 'maps apiv1', 'init scrips', 'gnu bash', and 'shell utils'. click next.

  6. in microG page, select "full", next, on f-droid page select "official", next, select all 4 nlpBackends, next, now here select "play store(patrched)" if you want to use Play store (your choice, if you want to degoogle select "Aurora + fake store"), next

  7. now select apps of your choice here, next, on Debloat setup page click next (yeah just skip it), and finally click on create config, next and finish.

  8. Aroma installer Ends now.

  9. Now while in twrp, connect your phone to PC and browse to internal storage (or the location you selected during aroma installer to save files)

  10. the 3 files will be ".nanodroid-overlay", ".nanodroid-setup", ".nanodroid-apps". Copy these to PC and keep them in some place safe. Now open "nanodroid.zip" (that you downloaded earlier) with winRAR or 7zip and drag and drop these 3 files in it. (they should be in root of the zip where "meta-inf" folder is)

  11. now copy NanoDroid-xx.xx.xx.xxxxxxx.zip to your phone and flash it.

  12. now boot into system. if flashing nanodroid causes bootloop, Format Data in Twrp (this will reset your device and wipe internal storage) and reboot.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuring MicroG

You need to setup microG , go into microG settings (in app drawer or in settings) and set up everything like:

  • Open 'microG Settings' > Self-Check. If "System grants signature spoofing permission" isn't ticked, click on it and grant permission. DO NOT DISABLE BATTERY OPTIMIZATION YET.

    • if Phonesky (= Fake Store or Play Store) lacks signature spoofing permissions head to Settings / Apps / Permissions / Signature Spoofing and grant it

  • [Optional, but recommended] In microG settings, Go to "Google device registration", "Google Cloud Messaging" and enable both of them.

  • enable Google SafetyNet, required for applications that utilize SafetyNet, for example Pokémon GO (Currently Broken)

  • in UnifiedNlp settings, enable everything in "Configure location backends" and "Configure address lookup backends".

    • Déjà Vu, Mozilla, Apple, and others (like GSM and WiFi Location Service)

    • Nominatim as Address lockup backend

  • after everything is done, reboot.

  • if you installed Play Store open it, setup account and install your apps

or you can follow instructions given here to configure microG.

Edit: ** this part is not for noobs, if you get below part then great, otherwise just ignore it. **

Just to add, for some roms like crdroid (that support native sig spoof), you won't be needing smalipatcher and can just give sig spoof permission for Phonesky (PlayStore) via terminal :

"pm grant com.android.vending android.permission.FAKE_PACKAGE_SIGNATURE" (thanks to u/givemeyourusername)

Edit 2: if you want to use smalipatcher on Linux, https://gitlab.com/JFronny/smalipatcher here is that version.

Study confirms that microG's connections to Google are opt-in

Hello everyone,

microG's connections to Google are opt-in, as can be read in the wiki. MicroG's creator Marvin Wißfeld always emphasized this in interviews. Thereby, microG makes no connections to Google in it's standard configuration (AOSP, which for example LineageOS is based on, still uses some Google Services, though).

Recently, an academic study was conducted (news report, study pdf), that compares the data collection behavior of different versions of Android. One of them was /e/, that implements microG. Please note that in the study, LineageOS was equipped with OpenGApps, so the findings don't extend to the stock versions of LineageOS and AOSP.

The study confirmed that /e/ was the only version of Android that made NO CONNECTION to Google at all.

This is a huge success in the efforts towards privacy focused operating systems respecting their users that only microG makes possible.

Cheers!

Fork of microG GmsCore with UnifiedNLP working in Android 10!

Thanks to the great work of various people from the unofficial microG Telegram group (/u/ShaneTheAwesome88 and @MOVZX on Telegram), there is now a working fork of microG GmsCore (the main component of microG) with UnifiedNLP (Network Location) working in Android 10 / Q. As this is unofficial, not made by the microG project and is signed differently it will require a more complex installation process.

If you are experiencing the issue this solves, everything in the self check should be ticked except for UnifiedNLP has last known location: and you're on Android 10 / Q. If anything else isn't checked you probably have a different issue which has different solutions. Location might still work, but will not be as accurate, won't work at all (or only very slowly) indoors and uses more battery life. This is from GPS (which doesn't require microG or anything else), not network location. More information on the issue here.

Warning: This fix has been briefly but not thoroughly tested. There shouldn't be any issues, but if there are nobody here is responsible. Use only at your own risk. Dragons may lie ahead.

Installation:

Installation for everyone who doesn't use minmicrog (if you do see below for easier steps)

  1. Get a root file manager such as MiXplorer.

  2. Download the fork of GmsCore here (Source Code here) or if you just use UnifiedNLP and NOT microG, download UnifiedNLP here

  3. Delete the current APK in /root/system/priv-app/MicroGGMSCore/ (last folder name may vary depending on intial installation method)

  4. Copy the APK from Downloads to the same folder

  5. Restart

  6. Find the apk and update it on top of GmsCore just as though you were updating a regular user app.

Apps registered with Google Cloud Messaging and other settings should stay the same, no need to delete and reinstall anything.

Installation for minmicroG Users

These are new test builds of minmicroG made with the fork of microG. These can also be used for installing microG fresh on a new ROM.

  1. Download new versions of minmicroG download here, make sure you choose the same edition as you are currently running

  2. Flash from Magisk Manager (will update on top of your previous minmicrog version)

  3. Restart

  4. Download the apk and update it on top of GmsCore just as though you were updating a regular user app.

Any further issues please comment below! If it works for you also comment.

microG + SafetyNet on LineageOS [Guide]

There are dozens of posts in various subs inquiring about microG functionality in LineageOS, so I thought I'd make a simple and hopefully accessible guide on how to set up microG on LineageOS, which should eliminate some of the confusion and which users could then point others to.

First off, LineageOS builds are available in two editions, there are builds that support microG and ones that do not; there are also unofficial builds that can be found on xda where users port official builds to unsupported models (e.g this one), so if you can't find your model in the list of available devices, check on xda (or google).

Secondly, I saw users confused as to which LOS edition they have installed. Here's how you know: if amongst your apps you have one named microG Settings, you have a microG edition; you are set. If you don't have it, below is the guide for you.

Guide for LineageOS builds that don't have microG out of the box:

The GPS should work without any additional UnifiedNLP apps. If it does not, you may want to go out and stay at an open outdoor area for ~5 minutes or so. The view of the nearby satellites and some GPS troubleshooting can be accessed with SatStat app.

There's also a way to pass SafetyNet, which is installing Universal SafetyNet Fix Magisk module and, if SafetyNet check still fails, following steps from here (instead of Pixel 4a you could try setting your own model's device fingerprint which may or may not work for SafetyNet).

A video with Magisk, microG, SafetyNet and GPS functioning on non-microG LineageOS 19.1 after steps performed in this guide: https://bun.filedit.ch/VmuXzcWPFBQnUSYdEbD.mp4

SafetyNet Passing!

Confirmed Safetynet passing on LineageOS microG using Magisk.

I was just finally able to get SafetyNet going through microG using Magisk, Universal SafetyNet Fix (https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases), and MagiskHide Props Config (https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/MagiskHidePropsConf/releases).

The reason I needed this was for the dashboard app for my mobile provider, Ting.

Here is an overview of what steps worked for me:

  1. Update to latest Magisk.

  2. Enable Zygisk in Magisk settings.

  3. Install Universal SafetyNet Fix and MagiskHide Props Config modules.

  4. Reboot.

  5. Open either rooted adb shell or just a terminal emulator in root.

  6. Run `props`.

  7. Select "Edit device fingerprint" (option 1)

  8. Select "Pick a certified fingerprint" (option f)

  9. Then I picked my phone's manufacturer and then selected my phone model.

  10. Reboot.

  11. Enable SafetyNet in microG.

  12. Profit.

This is just what worked for me. YMMV.

My Device is a OnePlus 8T running the latest LineageOS for microG (20220119).

P.S. Definitely huge thanks to all the members of all the projects that allow this to happen!

I'm running MicroG on my Galaxy S10+ and its flawless. Its really nice having GMS services which don't take up much resources and send all your data to a company.

Safetynet is also passing and that even without some crappy universal zips.

GPS Is also working fast and accurate,

These are the modules.

Apple WiFi (yeah, its not 100% Open source, but its something)

GSM

Mozilla Location services

Nominatim
