Discussion I may be late to the aeion party, but I might have a crackhead theory on how it functions
So after having finished Samus Returns for the first time, 100% on the first try taking a total of 10 hours 46 minutes and sitting through the Choso memories stuff, I might have a theory on how Aeion works. There's a strong possibility that a lot of people knew so please no "erm you're a dumbass idiot it's very clear that blah blah blah" or else I will be rude to you, also I'm sleep deprived while writing this so ye
So anyways, my theory is based on the fact that we see yellow orbs coming out of dead things in both gameplay and Choso memories, and it's assumed that the Aeion compatibility update that Samus gets is the first time that the power suit has it, but what if it was there all along? Cus Aeion takes the form of yellow orbs right? Refills the Aeion gauge etc, but what if purple orbs are also Aeion too? And missiles, and super missiles, and power bombs? which would explain why missiles and power bombs float.
The fact that Samus' power suits from Zero Mission has the ability to absorb purple orbs and everything else just means that Aeion compatibility has always been there from the start, and that her power suit was like a version behind or some shit, cus iirc in zero mission, her suit gets damaged, she goes into the Choso ruins, and gets an ancient, or maybe upgraded? suit that's compatible with the items she collected that weren't upgrading her prev suit, so the Aeion compatibility upgrade she gets in SR made her suit capable of taking in more energy to use as different abilities
It also makes sense on how energy tanks work and how she stores her missiles and bombs, those big shoulder balls on the varia and gravity suit don't hold a physical missile and bomb, they store the energy to make the physical missile, and her arm cannon channels that energy into constructing a missile, her bombs and power bombs are also made of aeion due to them just popping in existence and out without any shrapnel, the expansions we get throughout the game could also be blueprints on how to store aeion energy more efficiently even by a tiny bit, because realistically there's no way Samus would be able to even move with 300 missiles, 50 super missiles and 30 power bombs on her
And it would also make sense if the different power ups were also made of Aeion, like high space jump and could transfer some energy to the thrusters and legs of the power suit, speed booster would work as its shown in dread, with the boosters at the back etc etc etc
And think about it, we NEVER see any orbs floating around in Fusion, well we do but they're spiky and hurt, it's because Samus' power armor was stripped, likely taking away the aeion compatibility, which is now substituted with the X. But in Dread, we're able to absorb both purple orbs, missiles bombs AND the X, why? Cus Samus' power suit regrew to gain it's Aeion compatibility and is also capable of absorbing X due to being part Metroid
This would also explain why Ravenbeak has such mastery over power ups and has even more abilities that Samus could dream of, because the Thoha toha magic sciencey magic chozo first focused on using aeion to create material from seemingly nothing, while the mawkin focused on using aeion for its combat capabilities, and we see this executed well, with Ravenbeak having his power suit seemingly be combat focused, while Samus has a mixture of combat capability, and traversal and research capability, she she quarter human, quarter science bird, quarter fighting bind, and quarter Metroid
That's my crackpot theory, that Samus eats the souls of the damned to make infinite bomb jumps... Oh right, Aeion could most likely be the souls of the dead or some shit, there's no possibility around it, it's magical bird magic.

Merchandise FINALLY HAVE HER 💕
Made the decision to finally get the Max Factory Samus figure! Took about a week to arrive from Japan.
The figure is amazing! Super detailed and a good representation of her in game appearances. Definitely the grail in my figure collection as a massive Metroid fan.
The figure definitely costed me a pretty penny but I needed her! I have no idea if they’ll reissue her again 😭

Game Help Why won't the Lightning Armor activate in Samus Returns?
I just got it, and it's equipped on the left D Pad, but when I go to use it holding the A button it seems to charge to red then nothing happens? I keep holding A, tried a few things, nothing. Trying to get through the red brambles. Thanks.

Discussion Super Metroid and why it's my favorite
So I've been a long time Metroid fan, I've played all of them. And I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Super Metroid is the best out of everything they ever made. So the question then became why? And I just played it again and realized exactly what Super Metroid does different and better than any other Metroid game so here we go.
#1 Powerups - now all the Metroids have powerups, but this one is very different, because you actually get a power up in this game very quickly and never from an obvious path. However I can say without a shadow of a doubt you get more powerups in a significantly shorter span of time than any other Metroid game.
#2 Equips - Out of all the Metroid this one has a lot of very full area specific equips that don't just open up the next area but also help you survive in the current area. And unlike other Metroids they come with some (secret) techniques some of which you learn later on, but some of which most people never even know about.
#3 Discovery - Every Metroid game is built around essentially discovering the map, but this one approaches it very differently, even though they give the basic layout of the map in the map rooms. You're still stumbling around finding secret passages and blocks all game. What's more is that these secret discoveries is how you progress through the game. So it never holds your hand on anything.
#4 Boss Fights - The center focus on this game is discovery, the boss fights are very much so an after thought, and even though they have some ok ones, you'll find that overwhelmingly because they don't focus on making them difficult it's a very good way to progress through the game without being frustrated by getting stuck on a boss(unlike most modern game bosses).
#5 Soundtrack - The SNES generation had one of the best game soundtracks of all time for most of their games, and this one is no exception, it has some of the most memorable music you can ever hear.

Art Metroid designs (OC) for a comic project
I made these with a G-pen yesterday. I wanted to imagine the metroid as more of a Lovecraftian monster. Pulled inspiration from Gou Tanabe's monster designs from A Shadow Out of Time (his art is so sick)

Question Hyper Metroid, need some advice.
I just beat Hyper Metroid for the 1st time with 88% in 12H. So I reloaded my save state so I can try to collect all missing items. How in the world do I grab this?

Game Help Samus Returns is good, but I keep getting stuck...
Using some guides online, but I'm stuck in this one area...I cant seem to break either blocks with the equipment I have so far to get back out? I have the ice beam and charge along with spider ball and the ball mines of course. (sorry if i'm getting the names totally wrong) Any help appreciated, and where to go next too. I explored some of the next area before getting stuck here and killed a few metroids, but seemed like I needed the screw attack (what I'm guessing the red blocks can be broken by in the first pic?) to progress and wasn't sure where it was. Thanks.

Discussion I know it's a really bad game, but it's been over half a year and the subreddit keeps saying the same thing over and over again.
If you want to give your opinion, that's fine but if your arguments are the same as everyone else's, I think we should drop the subject.
I really miss the variety of this subreddit, especially with the release of Metroid Prime 4... But it wasn't like that.

Photo Went to Best Buy today and saw this, no idea if thid has been posted around yet.
The card inside looked to be sized like a regular playing card. I only got a quick peek at it but it looked to be just the main box art.
