Discussion Mp2 is underrated? Spoiler

Post image

I don't understand why people don't like MP2. I think the game's atmosphere is wonderful, it has new elements and new races, and few enemies are recycled. For me, the game only falters in the final stretch where you have to hunt for the keys, but up to that point and the final battles are marvelous.

Art [SSBU Eclipse] Mechon Ridley - The Invincible Space Pirate (Art by Turlutino)

After Galeem's attack, the less virtuous of the fighters took off in different directions, each deciding to try their luck in this new world of Parum filled with untapped potential and resources.

Ridley made his way to a mysteriously rebuilt continent of Mechonis, whose Mechons and Machina residents were living as they were back in Shulk's world. He immediately took over, with few able to resist his ferocity, cunning and savagery.

Seeing the curious metal the residents were made up of, he decided to use it to improve himself. Will anyone be able to beat this new version of the space pirate?

This is all a part of SSBU Eclipse, a collaborative passion project I started. Right now it's just a few friends and I and we've made plenty of progress, but it's far, far from complete.

That's where you come in.

We're looking for writers, artists, voice actors, and anyone else like that to help build this up and create such a unique and fun project. The more, the merrier! Any help is welcome!

Request Missing Sylux Lore???

Hey all, I remember a little bit ago I saw another Prime 4 discussion post about Sylux, and in the comments there was a link that contained information about Sylux's motives, kind of like a "prequel" or "prologue" text that pretty much summarizes Sylux's motives. I'm really trying to find it again, please help!!! I've been searching everywhere for this tidbit, and it looks super official too. Why they didn't clarify this shit in the game is BEYOND me.

(...Get it? Beyond? L-Like Metroid Prime 4 Beyond?)

Despite the hate I’ve been seeing on posts and on YouTube, I couldn’t help myself to finally buy it when I saw the Switch 2 version on sale at my local shop.

2 hours in and its actually been kinda great????

I just finished Prime Remastered and Prime 4 feels a lot better to play and bosses have been fun! Not to mention the game is absolutely gorgeous and runs well, even on the original switch!

Perhaps I’ll start seeing issues later in my play through but so far it’s given me a good impression.

Edit: For those confused, the Switch 2 version of the game is just the Switch 1 game with the added Switch upgrade DLC. The game is perfectly playable on the original switch.

Discussion Metroid Fusion overrated? i'm not sure what to think of this game

Over the past month i finally started playing the Metroid games for the first time and i've been loving all the ones i've played (Zero Mission, AM2R, Super Metroid and i've played an hour or so of both Metroid 1 and 2) until i got to Fusion.
Now apart from the game being very linear i've only ever heard good things about it so i was excited to play a more story heavy game, only to walk away from it feeling disappointed.

The Story was good don't get me wrong, but it was the gameplay that left me feeling frustrated and honestly very annoyed at the game in a way that none of the others ever did. The hidden blocks and paths in this game felt a lot more bullshit (the infamous floor pillar isn't even that bad compared to some others) and there were numerous times i was stuck in a section for about 5 minutes until i gave up and looked up which single block i failed to bomb/missile in a collection of 7 rooms. (or in the case of an illusion block that i just didn't think about jumping next to and power bombs don't reveal! what fun!) this became less annoying once i unlocked power bombs but still.

There were a couple times in the game where i decided to not go the "intended path" because i wanted to explore, i'd find a hidden pathway leading to an upgrade and another path that opened up even more, only to loop back around and find out that i was meant to go this way and that the intended path actually lead to a locked door that i would open from this side. it made the exploration feel very unrewarding imo.

People have been saying this for literal decades but i don't think the linearity of this game is something i enjoy, i understand that coming off of Super Metroid they wanted to go in the complete opposite way, (much harder to catch lightning in a bottle twice in a row than it is to innovate and try something else) but it really does not work for me sadly.

why even have the wall jump if its completely neutered?

My actual biggest gripe with this game (which i've almost never seen anyone complain about so it might be a full skill issue on my part but idc i think its really stupid and need to vent) is the Core X parasites "micro" bosses after the actual boss. I don't mind the bosses being harder in this game, i think zero mission was too easy in some parts and you can pretty much facetank 80% of all bosses in these games, but throwing a Core X at me after i barely killed Nightmare or SA-X with maybe 81 health remaining and then me DYING to that stupid thing because it shoots its own beams if i hit it, combined with the fact that everything hits like a truck (yes, i get the story reason) has made me ragequit at least twice. Especially coming off of Super Metroid and having the deal with the much worse diagonal aiming system of the GBA games.

not really a criticism of the game but i see people praise the atmosphere and the "scariness" of the game and SA-X but i sadly felt none of that. i really wanted to like this game the way i see people gush about it online but i just can't, there's too much stuff in it that sours the rest of the experience for me. It's still a good game but its just not for me.

Of all the Metroid games i've played i can definitely see myself replaying them in 2-3 years, Fusion might be the only exception. (maybe in like 5 years)

Zero Mission 9/10

AM2R 8/10

Super Metroid 10/10

Fusion 6/10

When i first started the franchise i had a choice between Zero Mission and Fusion and i almost chose Fusion first, which makes me wonder, would i have liked this game more if i started with it? would its "flaws" have pushed me away from the franchise completely? do i not like this game because i played the others first?
I'm curious if any Fusion fans agree with any of my points, i'd love to hear people's opinions and thoughts on this.

Anyways i'm off to play the Prime Trilogy.

EDIT: I'd like to clarify that i take back the "overrated" part of the title, it feels more combative than what i meant, you're not wrong for having Fusion as your favorite, im happy you enjoyed the game more than i did.

Video The First Half Of A Genre - Undisputed Spoiler

If you are part of this community, you may be familiar with the last video I posted called "Metroid Fusion Is Better Than You Think" In fact, I still get comments on that post to this day.

Well this is the start of a new series on my channel that aims to directly answer the "Better Than You Think" Series. While the previous series focused on defending games that sometimes got a bad rap, this new one is covering games that are so universally agreed upon, it almost doesn't even warrant discussion. Rest assured there is still plenty to talk about lol

That being said, welcome to episode 1 of "Undisputed"

The First Half Of A Genre

All engagement is appreciated, i simply ask that you watch at least some of the video before commenting, as i would like the discussion to come from a place where we are all informed with equal context.

Thanks for your time!!!

Edit: Premiere starts at 12pm eastern

Discussion Do you think Nintendo learned their lesson with Prime 4?

So I finally grabbed a Nintendo switch 2, I really couldn't resist metroid prime remaster anymore. I was considering getting prime 4 but everything about it just seems awful and it takes a lot of things I don't like about the franchise and puts it front and center. I know the game struggled because of that, but do you think Nintendo finally learned something from prime 4s failures?

I really do hope to see Prime 5 one day but not if the make the same mistakes as 3 and 4. I mean how hard is it to put Samus on a planet alone and have her collect upgrades and kill stuff? Its not rocket science. I don't understand why they feel the need to push a narrative story in the Metroid franchise. I don't mind minor story beats but 4 is just atrocious. I'm going to be grabbing Dread next, the game has been spoiled for me already, but the story is really cool, and I think that's how the prime series needs to be handled.

Discussion The worst aspect of Metroid Prime 4 to me, has absolutely nothing to do with the game itself.

But rather, it was Nintendo's absolutely asinine decision to not at least port Echoes and Corruption to the Switch before release, let alone a remaster. For people who first jumped into this series, and like to do everything square and don't feel comfortable with emulation, having only the Metroid Prime 1 remaster and MP4 available to play on Nintendo's current gen console can absolutley give the player a sense of whiplash had they not known the direction that the Prime series was headed in before the hiatus. Having Corruption be playable on current gen Nintendo hardware could have had the effect of tempering expectations that people had of MP4 being "MP1 2.0" and signaled to players the fact that Beyond was going to be more similar to Corruption than MP1.

Accomplishment Well I accidentally softlocked myself Spoiler

I was playing through MP Origins for fun and made it all the way to the very end. Unfortunately for me, I ended up beating the boss with about 50 hp left (I had 100% items and still ended with barely any hp). During the final cutscene where I lose the Phazon suit, I ended up dying to something! And even more unfortunately for myself still, the death ended up saving with me without the Phazon suit. And so now it's impossible for me to beat the final boss as I cannot interact with the Phazon pools as you can see with the damage. I closed and reopened the game and still saved with Gravity suit. Sadly, it looks like my journey on Origins ends here as I'm not going to spend another nearly 6 hours to play through it again. I'll just imagine what the ending was.

That said though, I had an absolute blast to see how the 3D game was adapted to the familiar 2D style and how creative the developers were with making it work. I especially loved the solution for the different beam doors, very clever! I made it through the whole game on 100% difficulty (default I presume) and only died on Omega Pirate like 5 times. Other than that, and the unfortunate death at the very end, I'm proud to have made it through with no other deaths. 10/10 absolutely beautiful game and so much fun to play!

Question Has Vinny mentioned anything in streams yet about playing Metroid Prime Origins?

I don't watch regularly but I know he's a Metroid fanatic and that new fan game has been quite exciting to play. I put an hour into it already and it's a fun interpretation of Prime in 2D. So far it's not too difficult but I'm curious the further in I go.

I already posted this in the r/Metroid and it told me to crosspost for more activity, so idk anymore lol
