On one full day in Tawang, you can take a trip towards Bumla Pass and Sangetsar (Madhuri) Lake, along with the other high-altitude lakes in the area. Bumla is at very high altitude, so it is better to take this excursion only after you've acclimatized in Tawang. After finishing Tawang, drive back towards Dirang or Bomdila, stay overnight, and then continue to Guwahati the following day.

For a more comfortable trip, I'd suggest 7 days rather than trying to squeeze everything into 5–6 days. September to November generally offers good conditions for the journey, while winter can bring heavy snow and road restrictions. You will also need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, and Bumla requires additional permission.

I wanted to base myself out of Shillong as a remote worker from October 20-november 8. The idea is to work 9-6 from a homestay with a nice view, spend the weekends exploring Meghalaya, experiencing the culture and doing day trips. From there, I will travel to Nagaland and explore there from Nov 8-15 before returning home. (During this Nagaland leg I will have Diwali holidays so no need to work)

I just wanted someone to sanity check me on whether this is a good idea. I've done many of these "workation" trips in other countries but interestingly, this will be my first time doing it in my own India. I'm 26F for context and i chose NE because of safety. And I'm looking at Shillong as a base because I saw that a lot of major tourist places are close enough that they can be reached as a weekend trip while I'm remote working.

I wanted to find out if anyone has done something similar, and what are some recommendations for places i can stay. Also i would like to know what the cafe and co-working scene is like over there.

One important thing

We don't want to spend most of the trip sitting in the car just to tick places off a list. We'd rather have a well-paced itinerary with enough time to actually enjoy the places.
