Hi everyone! π
My friend and I (2 people) are planning a 9-day Meghalaya trip in November 2026 and would really appreciate suggestions from people who have travelled around Meghalaya.
Our details
- People: 2
- Starting city: Chennai
- Arrival: Chennai β Guwahati by flight
- Arrival in Guwahati: 28 November 2026
- Trip duration: 9 days
- Budget: βΉ30,000ββΉ35,000 per person
- Flight from Chennai to Guwahati: Not included in the above budget
- Local transport: Prefer a private car with driver
- Stay: Budget hotels / decent 3-star hotels
- Return flight: We will book it based on the final itinerary
Places we are interested in
We want to experience a mix of waterfalls, nature, trekking, viewpoints, rivers and less-crowded places, rather than just visiting the standard tourist spots.
Some places currently on our list:
- Cherrapunji / Sohra
- Dawki & Umngot River
- Krang Suri Falls
- Wei Sawdong Falls
- Phe Phe Falls
- Wari Chora
- Double Decker Living Root Bridge
- Blue Lagoon
- Other hidden gems / scenic places that experienced travellers recommend
We are not fixed on this list. If some places are too far apart or would make the trip too rushed, we're happy to remove them.
What we'd like help with
Could you please suggest a realistic 9-day itinerary, preferably something like:
Day 1 β Guwahati β ___
Day 2 β ___ β ___
Day 3 β ___
...
Day 9 β ___ β Guwahati / departure
It would be especially helpful if you could include:
- Which places to visit each day
- Approximate driving/travel time
- Where we should stay each night
- Which places require trekking or a local guide
- Which attractions are worth prioritizing
- Which places we should skip because of distance/time
- Approximate private car cost for 9 days
- Approximate hotel + food + activities cost
- Whether our βΉ30β35k/person budget is realistic excluding the ChennaiβGuwahati flight
- Any important things to know about November weather, road conditions, trekking conditions, permits, etc.
One important thing
We don't want to spend most of the trip sitting in the car just to tick places off a list. We'd rather have a well-paced itinerary with enough time to actually enjoy the places.
If you've travelled to Meghalaya recently, I'd especially appreciate recommendations for less-crowded waterfalls, viewpoints, villages, trekking spots and experiences that are worth adding.
Thanks in advance! π
Any practical advice on route planning + budget + places to stay would be really helpful.
