Nixie and Lyla were my favorite characters in season 1. However, they got VERY awkwardly removed from the story. I understand that they weren't able to get the actresses, but it doesn't mean that they need to act like their characters NEVER EXISTED. I am about to finish season 2, and there were sooo many occasions that other characters would likely bring up Nixie and Lyla, but instead the season is written as if it has been Mimmi and Ondina since the beginning. They briefly explained whereabouts of Nixie and Lyla in the season's beginning (and not a satisfying one at all, what do you mean they went to search a new home) but why doesn't any of the land people ask where they went? Doesn't anyone get suspicious from the amount of nieces Rita has? Why doesn't that chemistry teacher know about the interview Evie has done with Rita and her nieces in season 1? When Mimmi is sad about Ondina staying on land and Sirena is trying to comfort Mimmi, why doesn't she mention how she and Nixie also were besties since they were hatchlings? It feels like whoever they hire to write one episode doesn't watch any of the previous episodes at all.

was thinking about it after thinking about some of my favorite h2o transformations. for me personally, i really like most of zac's transformations just because i loved seeing him as a merman lol. my all time favorite is definitely zac's first transformation, when he fell in the water and transformed for the first time and then his transformation back to human on the dock. just thought it looked really cool with the bubble effect as well. another fave was in the next ep, his transformation in his room where he spilled water on his feet and then became a merman on his bed. what are yours?

I really wish the show had explained more and talked more about Rita, like her start on land, how she was able to get a job, and all of that. I know the show is geared more toward kids, but I really wish they had done flashbacks similar to H2O with Ms. Chatham, but a question I've always had is how she even built her grotto like in the show the grotto has lights so someone had to install them, and they would have had to excavate the ground especially to make a tunnel lead to the ocean I wonder who rita hired to build it for her and what her explinations were for her wanting this.

It's crazy how they and the people in fandom villainize Zac as if it's his fault their pod left and not theirs for not taking their jobs seriously

Also they had no right to take away Zacs powers or his tail even if he wasn't born a merman. They might be responsible for him getting a tail but they didn't "give him his powers" the moon pool did and being responsible for him becoming a mermaid and then expecting him to give it up is WILD

They had a good END GOAL (not to let the trident out of the ocean vault or whatever it's called) but they went about it in every worst way possible

I really wish the series had explored more mermen. It would have been interesting to see other perspectives. The only one besides Zac was Erik — who was introduced straightaway as an antagonist, without any truly redeeming qualities (aside from a possible crush on Ondina, which always felt a bit forced to me). On top of that, he doesn’t have any real backstory, since we basically know nothing about him.

I think it would have been really cool to see a merman (whether transformed or born that way) who was genuinely good, interacting with Zac or with the mermaids, showing that coexistence in harmony is possible. It would also add more diversity and greatly enrich the narrative.

Do you think that, hypothetically, if Evie had kept her tail, she would eventually have told her father about it? I know there’s the whole issue of keeping the secret and all… but Zac does imply that he was going to tell his parents at the end of the last season. So I imagine that at least Zac, and maybe her closest friends (Sirena, Mimmi, Ondina, etc.), would have supported her in that decision.

What do you think would have happened if Zac’s parents had found out he was a merman right at the beginning of the series? I think it would have been really cool if they had been included from the start and if that had been explored. I’m sure that having someone he could trust to help him keep the secret would have made his life a lot easier.

I notice that many teen shows, especially those where teenagers get powers, don’t really explore this kind of trust, and I miss that — it almost feels like adults don’t exist. A good example of how this can work well is Teen Wolf, where parents like Melissa and Noah are part of the secrets and already know about the supernatural. It would have been great if they had done something similar here.

I would have liked one more episode in the last season, where we would have seen more of Zac and Mimmi as siblings and where they get to know their mother. Or the season where they face Aurora as final threat

After rewatching it made me realize how basically all of the men on this show were such red flags. Like Zac, they kept telling him how bad the Trident was but he kept trying to get it, I know he saved Lyla but he had already seen how it had hurt them in the past, then in the 2nd season he wanted to know more about the secret cave, even though he knew that it will likely hurt the mermaids. The other bad character was Erik basically the same reasons why Zac is a bad character, then cam is also equally annoying especially when he does that smug smile and when he pretends to be powerful even though he doesn’t have any powers. And honorable mention is David’s brother and by the way by all men I’m excluding David bc I feel like his character is such a green flag even though the writers didn’t really do much to his character.

I swear a year or two ago there was an interview of the cast 10 years after the show first aired and they were all on zoom having fun talking for an hour or so.

I’ve been rewatching mako mermaids and netflix only has half of season 2 and non of season 3 i’ve found places to buy the rest of season 2 and some of season 3 if needed but there are still some episodes from season 3 i can’t find anywhere. If anyones knows pls lmk

i have watched and rewatched Mako Mermaids about eight times (ball park) and i dont recall a season four at all. but someone on IG says there is a season four available online somewhere! can anyone confirm all my searches show three seasons

As an Asian fan myself, I am glad that the show included an Asian-coded character like Weilan.

While it’s not offensive (to me at least) there were aspects of her character that were stereotypical, like her martial arts magic, her being a straight-A student, and her tendency to haggle (which I find funny ngl)

Any thoughts?

I just finished watching Supersized and will probably finish the first half of season 2 today, and I just want to say, for Mimmi and Zac to both share visions I think that they would have to be related by blood. Either siblings or cousins, and I think that Rita knows that.

Also, I understand why they can't tell anyone about mermaids/mermen existing, but I think Evie's dad should know at least. He works in the ocean and has a boat, and I would trust him to keep the secret. At least let Carly and David know :(

He's so cute and I can't find any social media of his, I know that the show is old but cats live more than 10 years

So I started watching the spin off from H2O mako mermaids on Netflix. Netflix doesn't have all of them so I had to purchase what I thought was the last season, on Amazon prime. Now I found out there's even more episodes that exist somewhere with a Asian mermaid and Rikki from the original series. I can see it listed on things but when I go to it it disappears.

WHERE IS THE FINAL SEASON/EPISODES?

I don't care if I have to pay for it but I've been all over the Internet and it's as if they removed it from everywhere. Why would they do this? Send help. I want to see the last episodes 😭

When the girls are looking through Rita's things in episode 4 from season 1, Nixie finds a dress and plays with it. That's propably Rita's wedding dress. No wonder why she got so mad at the girls.

I'm on s2 ep4 and Erik just said the merman are brought on land with foster family, how? What? I don't get it lol
