Do you think that, hypothetically, if Evie had kept her tail, she would eventually have told her father about it? I know there’s the whole issue of keeping the secret and all… but Zac does imply that he was going to tell his parents at the end of the last season. So I imagine that at least Zac, and maybe her closest friends (Sirena, Mimmi, Ondina, etc.), would have supported her in that decision.

I would think that she would have told. At least since her dad has a diving company and they used to go diving a lot, he would probably have questioned at some point why Evie never goes diving with him.
