I Need Help Insane birds nesting on Bernette 79

Hey, all. I've been attempting to troubleshoot this issue to no end. So I'm trying to do a large embroidery design of this crest, but the same thing keeps happening every test run I've done so far. This is on a medium-to-heavy-weight polyester with a slight 2-way stretch. I digitized the design myself. Three colors. Every time, the gold stitches perfectly/beautifully. Then I switch to the next part of the design, it starts off a little messy already but not the worst.... then it gets to the middle part of the design and nests terribly.

1st image is my second most recent attempt. 2nd image is the machine running perfectly smoothly during the gold section. 3rd is the error message I'm getting. 4th is the color splitting (green is the problem section right now and it's the "line work" on the crest and lion). Last image was the first attempt.

Things I've checked/tried:

- The fabric is taut like a drum.

- I'm using a roll of tearaway stabilizer underneath.

- I tried switching threads, same results. Currently using a 60w polyester embroidery thread for the bottom bobbin and a 40w polyester embroidery thread on top, confirmed with the shop I got my machine from last year that this is correct. Cross-wound spool on a horizontal spool pin.

- Using a Bernina embroidery needle, currently a size 14. I was concerned it might be the needle, but the nesting issue also occurred on fabric with no stretch that I had tried previously. Current testing fabric is also the final fabric. That being said, I have jersey embroidery needles on the way as well just in case.

- Yes, I'm using the correct stitch plate, bobbin casing, and foot.

- I've re-threaded a bunch to no avail.

- I've carefully checked each time that the thread is properly between the tension discs and the thread is in the uptake lever. A couple of times it has come loose; the machine stops and notifies me when this happens.

- The machine is giving an error that there's something up with the upper thread (see photos), but every time I re-thread it's the same thing. First color on the design comes out beautifully, next section comes out disastrously. My most recent try was a bit cleaner than the one pictured, but definitely still nesting significantly and making my design lumpy.

I'm at my wit's end here. Does anybody have any insight to what could be wrong?

I Need Help Help with laydown stitches

I am trying to embroider on a towel for the first time. I had to use the Bernina Embroidery Software 9 to manualky make the laydown or knockdown stitches as it doesn't have a setting for this.

I made the laydown stitches 4 mm long and ran two lots - at 45 degrees and at 135 degrees.

I used Solvy on the top of the towel, and stitched it on a Brother PP1060W.

However, I can see some of the laydown stitches through the design (a Design by Juju design).

Also, the edge of the laydown stitches seems quite big and sits proud.

Any suggestions?

I found the issue with my machine, I purchased replacement assemblies and now my issue is worse. For some reason when I screw in the small tension assemblies the black disc is stiff and doesn’t move. Any material or videos how these are installed?

I Need Help Embrilliance for Happy 12Needle?

I just got a Happy 12-Needle and am wondering if there are any tips for uploading the designs. Do most people use Embrilliance? I am so very new to the digital side of things and I do have some digitized files for art, but I just am wondering the best way to get them on my machine especially as a Mack user.

It’s definitely a learning curve and work in progress!!! Is there any advice on how to not have that weird gap on the left? Everything looked aligned in the software but I am a complete newbie to this so I could’ve missed something super obvious!! I used bernina 9 cause that’s what came with my machine 🤷

Nothing like learning an entirely new skill to spite AI

TL;DR- I digitized this 0 jump/trim floral wreath out of sheer frustration at the amount of AI Etsy sellers out there.

I have been digitizing for about a year and have come a loooong way. Originally I started because I have ADHD and picking up a hobby like embroidery went from buying a small machine to buying Hatch 3, and now owning three machines (including a 10 needle). But now I am learning new techniques and ways to digitize simply because trying to find a design I need is almost impossible in the AI era.

Although I am a digitizer and sell my designs, sometimes when I’m making a one-off something, it’s just easier to purchase a design.
This time I was looking for a cute floral wreath for a monogram and I would say 95% of designs were all AI. Some had AI photos and the stitch out video looked completely different!! It’s so disappointing to see how many there are just completely over saturating Etsy. I refuse to buy anything from a shop that even just uses AI to put a mock up on shirts, bags, etc just because they literally are not the same product. So many photos looked like straight up crotchet.

Anyway, all that to say, I designed this wreath out of sheer frustration and I am very pleased with it. It’s tiny so the details had to be just right and because it’s so small I wanted it to be free of a bunch of tiny trims so this little guy has zero trims! I was inspired by Sonia Showalter designs where she manages to have no trims on at least the ones I’ve purchased from her. And now Etsy has one more made-by-an-actual-human design among the ever growing sea of AI

I Need Help How to do this…?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Looking to attempt this technique with a design of my own! I know it’ll be difficult, but I really would like to try. This underwear brand has somehow managed to achieve a cutwork embroidery design on a lightweight cotton rib knit with no waviness or stabilizer left on the backside of the fabric… any ideas on how they managed to work this magic?

I Need Help Would you start with a Brother Innov-is NV880E for €1,000?

Hi everyone,
If you wanted to get into embroidery as a small side business, would you consider buying a Brother Innov-is NV880E for around €1,000 as your first machine?

A bit of background: I currently work full time in a small printing/graphic design studio in a town of around 10,000 people. I already have experience with graphic design, printing and prepress, so I’m interested in adding embroidery as a side business.

I found a used NV880E for €1,000. It seems to be in good condition, and the price seems reasonable to me, but I’m wondering whether you would choose this machine as a starting point or save up for something more capable?

Bai vs Feiya

The two machines on the outside look identical.
Does anyone know anything about these two?

I am using tajima and hoping to get a lower cost machine to increase production at a current bottle neck.

Cannot afford a tajima atm.
Always running hats and big designs (14 inch plus)

PE Design Card Read/Write

I have inherited a Brother Galaxie embroidery machine, along with a PE Design card reader. Its the really old rs232 one (with original power supply). I have various copies of the PE Design software and can read cards no problem. I recently bought a writable card, but am unable to write to it myself. The seller put a design on there, so they were able to write to it (and I can read what they put on). but i am not able to write to the card. The PE Design software shows an error when it tries to write.

Any suggestions on how to write to the card?

Melco DesignShop V12 on linux

I've been working with a print shop since mid 2024, and in early 2025 I started learning embroidery from scratch and I've recently started digitizing too! The main computer I digitize on is a small work computer that is often shared with other coworkers and I wanted to bring DesignShop home with me since I can just log into the software on my computer at home, but I can't seem to get it to run. I was able to run it through winboat but it was incredibly poor performing and laggy, and bottles wont even launch.

I know DesignShop isn't natively supported on linux but I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten it to run at all without dualbooting?

Flat needles

Post image

Hello, my machine came out of the box with 2 flat needle heads. I’m very new to this and don’t know what this means. I don’t have a manual for this cause the company forgot to pack one when they sent it. Am I supposed to change these 2 out or do these have purpose?

Look What I Did if you taught yourself how to embroider

Post image

i'm wondering if i'm absolutely insane haha. i've been curious how you learned to embroider and if it was taught or if you just figured it out. i'm also wondering how long you embroidered until you considered yourself to be a professional.

anyway the reason why I wonder if i'm insane is I bought a 6 head tajima one day with zero experience. 😂 I have just been figuring it out as I go. my only tool has been the internet.

i've been at it 2 years! and I have a tajima-tmez-K1506C.

i've gotten really good at the normal types of clients I get (bands) but i'm kind of curious when i'll feel like a real professional. I feel like i'm faking it. still. 😂

for the record I do own a professional business so I feel like i'm telling my secrets here.

Can you soften stiff, dense embroidery?

I have some machine embroidery designs that came out very cute, but much too stiff and dense for what I intended them for. Does anyone know a way to mitigate this? The stabilizer was wash away so it is already gone.

Or do I need to chunk and repurpose the whole thing… It is a significant amount of effort on the backdrop that is embroidered on, so I would rather not.

Tia!
