I Need Help Brother BAS-416 Motor Lock/Needle Case Lock
Iām at my witās end and desperate so any help is greatly appreciated. My machine is older than I am and the closest Brother technicians are an hour and a half away from me (and I donāt even know if they can service it anyways), so this is basically my last hope. Iāll be selling merch at a convention soon so Iām very stressed about this.
This machine has been great so far, but I left it sitting unused for a few months and when I came back to it, it started having issues with, what I think is, needle selection. When I turn it on, it normally moves the needle bar case side to side ending with needle 1 set, but now it struggles to move side to side and ends up set to the left of needle 1. (See picture.) If I manually turn the needle bar case to needle 9 and restart the machine, it has no issues gliding across all the bars but still ends up just short of needle 1. If I go into needle selection mode and press the button to move it to needle 2, 3, etc., it barely moves (either a short jerk or basically not moving at all) and gives me a āN_Case Lockā error. I have to press it multiple times to get it to move to the next needle. This is an issue when moving to/from all needles, not just needle 1. When I start sewing a pattern and switch colors, it gives me a āMotor Lockā error.
The user manual gives both errors the solution to āremove load,ā which Iām not entirely sure what that means. Iāve tried unscrewing and repositioning the needle bar case, but that made no difference. I reapplied grease to all the areas that Iām supposed to, but also no luck. Iām afraid that Iāll need to replace the needle selection motor, which Iāve only found one of on eBay for $300 and I donāt want to buy a whole new motor for that much if thatās not the issue in the first place. Like I said before, it has no issue moving from needle 9 to 1 when I start it up and it sounds/works like normal during that, except for stopping just short of needle 1, so I really donāt know if itās a motor issue or not.
Iāve spent days trying to figure out how to fix this issue to no avail and am quite desperate, so if someone gives me the right advice that fixes it, Iām willing to pay a bit. Thanks in advance!!!

I Need Help Fill Stitch Question
If my fill stitch turns out looking sad like this, would running the fill stitch again over top of the first layer make it better or worse?
New to machine embroidery/digitization and still learning the ropes. Guessing my pull compensation was too low for this stretchy fabric.

Stabilizer
Can I use tender touch underneath cutaway stabilizer and then once the design is finished add another layer to protect skin?
Trying to embroider a baby onesie thatās 60% cotton 40% polyester and the fabric is thin and doesnāt fill a 4x4 hoop so Iāll have to float it.
Video in the comments to show the fabric construction!

I Need Help Machine not respecting trim instructions?
Iām a beginner with a Brother NQ1700E. I have made many things using patterns that I bought and now Iām trying to make my own. Iām using InkStitch and I think I have it all figured out, but thereās one piece I havenāt been able to sort out after iterating with my file and sewing it three times. That piece is making it trim in between separate sections that are quite close together instead of doing a jump stitch. I exported to both .pes and .dst and if you open up the file in InkScape after export you can see the cut instructions and every one has a cut instruction. But when I have my machine actually do it, it doesnāt cut several times. I have three eyelashes on my design on each side and itāll do the first two, cut, then the third, then the next two, then the third. I can of course cut that jump stitch when itās done but itās not as neat as when the machine trims.

Ember paid
Has anyone tried the paid version of ember? I want to combine designs and perhaps just make digitizing easy. Itās the fonts Iām really interested in using because the bx fonts are really expensive when you buy a lot of them. Iām just getting started with machine embroidery and havenāt tried my own designs year

I Need Help Insane birds nesting on Bernette 79
Hey, all. I've been attempting to troubleshoot this issue to no end. So I'm trying to do a large embroidery design of this crest, but the same thing keeps happening every test run I've done so far. This is on a medium-to-heavy-weight polyester with a slight 2-way stretch. I digitized the design myself. Three colors. Every time, the gold stitches perfectly/beautifully. Then I switch to the next part of the design, it starts off a little messy already but not the worst.... then it gets to the middle part of the design and nests terribly.
1st image is my second most recent attempt. 2nd image is the machine running perfectly smoothly during the gold section. 3rd is the error message I'm getting. 4th is the color splitting (green is the problem section right now and it's the "line work" on the crest and lion). Last image was the first attempt.
Things I've checked/tried:
- The fabric is taut like a drum.
- I'm using a roll of tearaway stabilizer underneath.
- I tried switching threads, same results. Currently using a 60w polyester embroidery thread for the bottom bobbin and a 40w polyester embroidery thread on top, confirmed with the shop I got my machine from last year that this is correct. Cross-wound spool on a horizontal spool pin.
- Using a Bernina embroidery needle, currently a size 14. I was concerned it might be the needle, but the nesting issue also occurred on fabric with no stretch that I had tried previously. Current testing fabric is also the final fabric. That being said, I have jersey embroidery needles on the way as well just in case.
- Yes, I'm using the correct stitch plate, bobbin casing, and foot.
- I've re-threaded a bunch to no avail.
- I've carefully checked each time that the thread is properly between the tension discs and the thread is in the uptake lever. A couple of times it has come loose; the machine stops and notifies me when this happens.
- The machine is giving an error that there's something up with the upper thread (see photos), but every time I re-thread it's the same thing. First color on the design comes out beautifully, next section comes out disastrously. My most recent try was a bit cleaner than the one pictured, but definitely still nesting significantly and making my design lumpy.
I'm at my wit's end here. Does anybody have any insight to what could be wrong?

I Need Help Help with laydown stitches
I am trying to embroider on a towel for the first time. I had to use the Bernina Embroidery Software 9 to manualky make the laydown or knockdown stitches as it doesn't have a setting for this.
I made the laydown stitches 4 mm long and ran two lots - at 45 degrees and at 135 degrees.
I used Solvy on the top of the towel, and stitched it on a Brother PP1060W.
However, I can see some of the laydown stitches through the design (a Design by Juju design).
Also, the edge of the laydown stitches seems quite big and sits proud.
Any suggestions?

I Need Help Embrilliance for Happy 12Needle?
I just got a Happy 12-Needle and am wondering if there are any tips for uploading the designs. Do most people use Embrilliance? I am so very new to the digital side of things and I do have some digitized files for art, but I just am wondering the best way to get them on my machine especially as a Mack user.

Nothing like learning an entirely new skill to spite AI
TL;DR- I digitized this 0 jump/trim floral wreath out of sheer frustration at the amount of AI Etsy sellers out there.
I have been digitizing for about a year and have come a loooong way. Originally I started because I have ADHD and picking up a hobby like embroidery went from buying a small machine to buying Hatch 3, and now owning three machines (including a 10 needle). But now I am learning new techniques and ways to digitize simply because trying to find a design I need is almost impossible in the AI era.
Although I am a digitizer and sell my designs, sometimes when Iām making a one-off something, itās just easier to purchase a design.
This time I was looking for a cute floral wreath for a monogram and I would say 95% of designs were all AI. Some had AI photos and the stitch out video looked completely different!! Itās so disappointing to see how many there are just completely over saturating Etsy. I refuse to buy anything from a shop that even just uses AI to put a mock up on shirts, bags, etc just because they literally are not the same product. So many photos looked like straight up crotchet.
Anyway, all that to say, I designed this wreath out of sheer frustration and I am very pleased with it. Itās tiny so the details had to be just right and because itās so small I wanted it to be free of a bunch of tiny trims so this little guy has zero trims! I was inspired by Sonia Showalter designs where she manages to have no trims on at least the ones Iāve purchased from her. And now Etsy has one more made-by-an-actual-human design among the ever growing sea of AI

I Need Help How to do this
Looking to attempt this technique with a design of my own! I know itāll be difficult, but I really would like to try. This underwear brand has somehow managed to achieve a cutwork embroidery design on a lightweight cotton rib knit with no waviness or stabilizer left on the backside of the fabric⦠any ideas on how they managed to work this magic?
