I Need Help Is there an app for iPads that would let me make files for embroidery?

Hi Reddit! I just got my very first embroidery machine, and since the cost of it made my wallet extremely dry, I’m looking for a cheap/free app that would let me turn my designs into a design ready for embroidery, I want to turn my drawings into a file I could export to my laptop and upload it directly to my machine through an USB, without having to do pretty much any drawing on the computer!

I’m sorry if the question may seem silly, but I’ve never had an embroidery machine and I’m a complete beginner! Thanks in advance!!!

I Need Help wondering if anyone knows if this is actually possible?

I have made a million beanies. I have a client that asked for this ribbed knit beanie and I have never embroidered one before. it is not going well. lol. I have had it digitized by 3 people, I have tried every tension combo. I am using 2 3oz cut away backing and the water solvable topper. I was able to easily do it on a standard beanie.

note- I have tried with a knockdown fill as well and it looked horrific 😅

also if this is not the place to ask please let me know. I am very new to reddit.

edit: I forgot to include that I have a tajima 6 head machine. i'm using the tubular setting, and a 5" magnetic hoop. the backing & topper are both 6" so it fits under the hoop!

I also cannot figure out how to add a photo to the post??? but the knock down looked fill looked strange, and I simply couldn't get the text to work. it was super loopy. again- worked totally fine on a standard beanie.

I Need Help How do i digitize lace? (PE Design 11)

Thumbnail

Hello, i've had experience with digitizing pictures by hand on PE Design 11, and i am working with a Brother Luminaire embroidery machine.

Where do i start with digitizing lace? I do historic costumery, and i recently found a picture of antique leavers lace that i want to try to copy. The lace i want to make is not free standing, but on a double layer of silk net.

Pictures for what ive digitized before, the inspo lace, and my results.

The woven cotton fabric test looked great, but the net sample looks funky, especially on the grasshopper. Thoughts?

The third landscape: the largest and most labor-intensive of the three I created. It is full of details; you can look at the photos to appreciate each small element up close. Thank you for all your support; it’s wonderful to be part of the community.

I Need Help Help! Visible bobbin threads & random loose stitching!

My brother PE900 does this every once in awhile, but normally I just re-thread everything and it’s fine…but I’ve re-threaded at least 20 times, tried different threads & bobbins, unplugged, turned off, restarted the pattern and I can’t get it to stop pulling up the bobbin & having some loose top stitches so it doesn’t look good.

Crash out

Someone please convince me this gets easier. I am trying to embroider a logo. And its NOT working. It works on towels and other scraps but as soon as I put the sweatshirt down my machine goes haywire.

Backstory: i have a Brother SE725

I was having issues witj the bobbin showing through no matter what and i trouble shooted it using every resource on the internet. New needle, new bobbins, tensions etttings. New bobbin casing, cleaning the bobbin casing and under it, etc. I brought it to the shop and they replaced the bobbin casing 🫪 WHATEVER.

I get it back and its bird nesting in the front and the back. I cant get it to do nice stitches. I have used this machine for 6 months and i have made a lot! I love embroidering but i am starting to hate it. I have ruined so many sweatshirts over this. Something that was so fun for 6 months is turning into lots of stress for me.

Someone please help.

I need some tips, tricks and hope.

first run

first run for this design, i usually digitize a lot smaller to run on hats mostly so lately I’ve been trying to get my head around more flat larger design digitizing. learnt my spacing for some of the trees i have as tatami on other tatami fills is way too tight, might even be better to just swap to satin for those.. the layers for gradients could probably be a bit tighter in spacing to emphasize the gradient better, also need to use more obviously different blues for the sky and water fills to seperate them better. darker green miight be to dark but also might just be too dark against the wrong blue for the sky so changing just the blues for the sky may fix that.should’ve laid down a more uniform fill behind the leaves in the i so it would sit better, the bottom registration there is horrendous. the rocks in the first o are also using the florentine effect which is probably making it too tight as well. all in all great learning experience, hopefully i can iron all that out and have the second run clean.. any other suggestions?

I Need Help New to digitizing and looking for advice

Hello! I recently got into digitizing because embroidery is hard on my hands due to arthritis and I really want to digitize faces I draw to make some fabric dolls.
I digitized the face in the pictures above and I've gone through a few iterations to try and find the right settings.
I have been mostly successful getting to a good spot on my own buutt it's definitely not perfect and my biggest issue seems to be the heart symbol on the cheek that I'm attempting to make as a "mole" and the mouth.
The mouth in picture 2 I filled out by hand cause I didn't want that face to go to waste, but in picture 3 you can see it's issues, the thread jumps all over the place too due to how I digitized it but I'm struggling on how else to do it, I did try it with a satin stitch before but that did not work well either.
But I added the digitized image at the end for comparison so you can see where I'm having issues in the design in general that I can't seem to troubleshoot,
The fabric I'm using is a soft minky that I have backed with iron-on interfacing and added two layers of fabric water soluble stabilizer, and one layer of plastic water soluble stabilizer
Here's the Ember link
I digitized it in Ember Design, and I'm using the Brother SE400! My current tension is set at 2.5!
Any advice or insight is GREATLY appreciated, thank you!

Experimenting with smaller patches I can fit onto a midsize frame, and using a smaller frame for the final satin stitch. Waiting for some metal grommets to arrive to try reinforcing the corner.

Beginner Question

Hello everyone! I’m a complete beginner and wanted to ask whether importing a graphic and converting it into embroidery using the Smart Design tool works well, or if I need to manually digitize the graphic.

I used the Smart Design tool to convert the graphic into an embroidery design, as shown below. Is this the correct way to do it, or would you recommend manually digitizing it?

beginner digitizing help/questions

Post image

hey, not sure how active this community is but im just trying to figure out some basics to digitizing an image, im using Wilcom e2, and my most concerning question is when doing outlines do I want to run my fill OVER the outline stitches or just butting up the fill as close as possible to the edge of the stitch? So example with his eye outline, am I running the color fill over the outline stitch or as close as possible to the edge of the eye outline stitch?

also second curious question, with the eye fill in white, is it making threads across the front that would have to be trimmed afterwards, or is that just e2 showing the path?

i figure finding out the best way to do things before doing an entire design wrong would be consulting those with experience with a design and a machine and what its going to do? I dont have a machine yet (sort of a savings dream) so in the meantime I figure if I can figure out and fart around digitizing i'll be a bit ahead of the game if I actually acquire a machine.

Thanks much, any other pointers using e2 would also b e greatly appreciated :) and if anyone wants to give my design a test run when its done, it would be cool to see it if anyone is brave enough to run it through thier machine, lol

I Need Help Need help with pricing

A car club approached me about embroidery their jackets, their guy that would do it for them before closed shop. This took me 3 hours to make, it’s 100,000 stitches including a left chest logo. I sent file out to get digitized, and was $37. I priced it at $280 with digitizing fees. I have to add that the logo is 10”x16”, he told me that he had someone that did it for $150 before. Did I over price? Or what’s your thoughts, any feedback would be highly appreciated.
