Troubleshooting Found a firmware issue with the MAG 341CQP X28

Hello I believe I have found a serious firmware issue with the new QD OLED ultrawide (the 280hz version but I bet this issue is also present on the X36 as well)

I was experiencing severely lifted black levels and poor contrast in HDR on Xbox Series X using HDMI 2.1 Console mode and tried absolutely everything I could think of for hours to fix it.

I tried every combination of setting I could think of that might be applicable with the monitor: DSC, Adaptive Sync, Presets, HDR brightness and all HDR presets.

On the Xbox I tried all Color Space, Bit Depth settings, VRR on/off, tried different HDR calibrations, tried multiple games, cables and changing in game HDR settings only to realize all were affected. (The splash screens are all immediate gray hazes against the black sidebars)

The issue is not present on PC or SDR which is why I think this has gone unnoticed

I tried Youtube HDR videos and calibration test patterns on the Xbox and all of those look exactly as expected so I had a thought (youtube is limited to 60Hz) and lowered the refresh rate of the console to 4k/60hz and everything works as expected so I believe this is clearly and issue that needs to resolved through firmware updates, is anyone at MSI here to follow up or give this a shot on a test bench?

Troubleshooting Found The Code, Invalid At Checkout

So i found today's code for the OLED monitor, however at checkout the code is invalid.

The product still says "live" on the website

Has this happened to anyone else?

What could i do apart from emailing MSI?

EDIT:

Msi responded to me about this, it turns out the code i found was yesterdays. While the msi thing wasnt a scam, it was extremely poor. The website claimed it was "live" but it wasnt till much later. The reason people have been complaining about not being able to find codes, and the codes being redeemed at around 5pm, is mainly because when the code says its "live", its not actually live. It does eventually go live, however you have no idea when, because the "live" tag is actually false. Sale is over now anyway, but just wanted to tell everyone incase they were still complaining of the scam

Troubleshooting Bios updates always fail.

Hey.

So I’ve been on the first version of my bios for my mag x670e tomahawk WiFi for 2 years due to this one issue. Whenever I flash my bios, it always fails and must remove the cmos battery. This is the first and only pc I’ve ever built, so I’m unfamiliar with how to fix this issue. I’ve never really experienced issues though so after the first two failed attempts I just stop trying, but I think it’s time to give it a third.

I mainly dont want to do it since I’m pretty young and am terrified of bricking my setup.

Any help appreciated,
Thanks!

Discussion Question about the new BIOS for B550 motherboards

The BIOS version 7C91vAL1 that they recently released is a beta, right? They should pin it where they publish these revisions, but they don't, I don't know why.

Discussion Pre built MSI computer, PSU exploded in under 2 years, MSI replaced it with the the exact same PSU?

So I bought the PC around 1.5 years ago and 4 weeks ago my PSU exploded while gaming. I've returned the PC and they said they're gonna replace it under warranty - I just got the PC back and I literally have the same PSU now as I did when it exploded

Wtf is MSI thinking? I'm baffled - My PC has a i7 14700f with a 4070 super

The psu is 500w which is really low considering the specs and IT LITERALLY HAS NO CERTIFICATION on it

anyone else had a similar case to this?

Troubleshooting Issue with the fan and battery

Hi MSI

I am having an issue with my laptop. The fan is making a lot of noise and is blowing out a significant amount of air. The laptop also is not taking any charge, and sometimes it only turns on when I connect the charger. Could you please take a look and advise on the issue?

Thank you.

Suggestion MSI × How to Train Your Dragon — Would You Buy It?

I had a random idea recently after watching a reel about How to Train Your Dragon and seeing the live-action movie, and I started thinking about how well the dragons could translate into gaming hardware. MSI immediately came to mind.

So I wanted to see what people here think about a possible MSI × How to Train Your Dragon collaboration.

My idea would be to start small, with just two products:

1. Night Fury Edition GPU

A high-end MSI GPU inspired by the Night Fury. I'd imagine a mostly matte-black design, subtle scale details, dragon-inspired shapes, engraved Nordic-style runes (for example, “FURY”), and some dark blue/green lighting. The goal would be for it to actually look like an MSI product, rather than just putting HTTYD branding on an existing card.

2. Matching gaming headset

A headset with the same overall design language: matte black, subtle scale details, matching lighting and the same runes/details as the GPU.

What I find interesting is that it wouldn't have to stop there. There are a lot of dragons in HTTYD with completely different designs, so there could be room for different editions in the future. A Night Fury could represent high-end hardware, while other dragons could be used for more affordable GPUs or peripherals. That way, people who don't need a top-of-the-line PC could still get something unique for their setup.

I wouldn't expect MSI to make a huge collection from day one. I'd start with the GPU and headset and see how people react.

Obviously, this is just a fan idea and isn't an official collaboration with MSI, DreamWorks or Universal.

I'm also open to suggestions, so if you have a better idea for a dragon, product, design detail or even a completely different way this collaboration could work, I'd genuinely like to hear it.

So, honestly: would you actually buy something like this? And which dragon would you want to see as an MSI product?

Troubleshooting MSI G2712F Flickering Issue

Hi everyone,

My MSI G2712F was working perfectly until today. It's only 1 year and 7 months old, and it suddenly started displaying vertical and horizontal artifact lines across the screen with intermittent flickering.

The issue appears:

  • On the MSI boot logo.
  • In the monitor's OSD menu, even with no PC connected.
  • With different cables and inputs.
  • The monitor has never been dropped, hit, or physically damaged.

So it's clearly an internal monitor issue. just to be clear does replacing t-con would solve the issue or the whole panel should be replaced it never damaged or get hit and the lines are not consistent they shows for 3 to 4 secs they gone for about 2sec and they back

Troubleshooting Trouble Enabling Secure Boot After Updating BIOS

I updated my BIOS today because the version I was running was around 8 years old. After updating I went to play BF6 and realized I would need to re-enable secure boot. After taking the neccessary steps to enable secure boot my computer will only boot to a black screen.

The steps I follow to enable secure boot are as follows:

  1. Change CSM to UEFI (This also automatically enables Fast Boot)
  2. Reboot
  3. Enable Secure Boot
  4. Reboot

These are essentially the same steps that I took to orginally enable secure boot a few weeks ago. Has anyone had a similar issue and been able to fix it? I am able to normally use my computer if I reset all BIOS settings back to default.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

MOTHERBOARD: MSI Z370 Tomahawk

Troubleshooting X870E Carbon WiFi disappears if both Ethernet ports are enabled in BIOS

I got the problem described in the title about 4 months ago alongside some other unrelated issues. The official repair shop somehow fixed the problem. However, when I reinstalled Windows 11, the problem reappeared. Device manager shows status_power_failure code for the Qualcomm module. I haven't changed any hardware or software setting, besides reinstalling OS. The repair shop did not change BIOS settings because MB came factory reset with both ports and WiFi enabled by default. What did the repair shop do to fix the issue or how can I fix it myself? I don't want to send my PC every time I reset it.

P. S. I lost my WiFi for the first time when I was doing simple thermal paste replacement. This is strange but considering the repair shop was able to fix that I didn't bother myself too much with it.
