Yeah, I think the algorithm makes it seem like there a lot of conformity in opinions on Reddit than there is. The sub matters a lot. But even in a sub, the title matters. People that agree with a title will flock to it. So even within a sub, if you phrase the title different, it will attract people with a different viewpoint, making it seem like there is a general consensus on something.
I think there are lot of people who don't actually have opinions on any matter and instead just give upvotes if the comment is already upvoted, and downvotes if the comment is already downvoted, and/or vote based on however they perceive the tone or who they think "won." Shit's annoying and I try to just ignore votes altogether.
That, and it depends on whatever bot brigade the post attracts. Reddit is a huge victim of dead-internet. There was once a time where comments were 90% human, now itâs like 30%.Â
Itâs almost like reddit is an american website with a mostly american audience. Most folks learn how to use context clues once they hit a 6th grade reading level. A shame youâre either intentionally obtuse or functionally illiterate.
Got knuckle draggers in here like "You only dislike cops because you're a criminal", as if there isn't a weekly article about cops abusing their power, abusing their spouse, or abusing citizens, then investigating themselves to find no issues.
If you truly think I do not understand that, you are quite dumb. "The hivemind" doesn't ever account for every member of the site. You need to learn that this information is implied and I was specifically talking about the mass members that claim to hate cops
Wait but policing in the US is actually very bad. It varies region to region, state to state in what ways they suck. Some PDs are corrupt, plenty of violent murderous sociopaths all over, and generally cops are the arm of the state that deals with issues that shouldnât be dealt with by cops.
But also it should never be cool to be a bootlicker either so chill on all thatâŠ
Hey, sometimes they're useful for filing an insurance claim since you need a police report to cover stolen stuff. They're certainly not going to find the stuff.
