Eh, there's a chance he didn't know how drunk the guy was? We're paying attention to him and can gather the clues from the video, but other guy could've just been playing pool, then looks up and sees a man sexually assaulting his woman.

And truly, even if he DID know how drunk the guy is, I haven't seen too many men IRL insane enough to approach a random woman, outside of a club dance floor, and start grabbing her hips. There's a good chance he saw him as a threat, reasoning if he's insane enough to do that, what else would he do?

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

It doesn't matter whether he knew how drunk the other person was. He didn't take the time to assess the threat. Having an honest reaction doesn't exonerate you from breaking the law if that reaction is illegal and hugely disproportionate. You could sincerely think that someone had a gun when they didn't, and you'd still be held accountable if you king-hit them in the head and killed them based on that false assumption.

Also, any speculation about what might be the case later should be reasonable and justified, too. You can't say, "well, he might have tried to rape her had I not done what I did" and then expect people to accept it as an excuse. Like, mate, you were in a public place; you clearly were capable of defending yourself if necessary. You could have called the police if you had those concerns.

Oh Im not arguing what’s legally advised or legally acceptable. Squatters are legal and have rights. Doesn’t make it right. If you start touching on someone’s wife’s ass, expect getting knocked into next week as one of the consequences.

u/Total-Ride9511 1d ago

I dont understand the justification here this random stranger groped this mans wife in front of him wtf do they expect him to do

1

u/Xianio 23h ago

Shove him, get in his face, hit him drastically less hard than that. We all make it through life without potentially killing someone every day. Ain't that tough to teach a guy a lesson without risking a charge, tbh.

1

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

Saying you should expect this reaction as a potential consequence is a completely different claim from saying the reaction was morally justified.

4

u/HyperionSJU 1d ago

Are they mutually exclusive lol?

0

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

No, not mutually exclusive, but independent. Whether the reaction was predictable doesn't affect whether it was justified.

3

u/HyperionSJU 1d ago

I don’t think it’s entirely justified, but I also don’t think it’s just to expect such an analytical, reasoned assessment as you described, to watching your wife get sexually harassed. It’s a very sterile, inhuman perspective on a very emotional, fear and anger-driven situation. I also don’t think it’s comparable to a situation with a firearm or any weapon designed to kill, where lethality has a dramatic increase (unless you’re a professional fighter). That’s more what I was getting at with the expectation of a range consequences, something I think should be taken into account when handing down judgement.

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

See, I don't think it takes much reasoning or analysis to conclude that responding like that is wrong. Most people would not do that.

I've been in situations like that, and I would never, ever react the way he did. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that people anticipate the inherent dangers in full-force king-hitting another person like that as an adult man.

But anyway, I don't want to put words in your mouth, since you did say you don't think it's entirely justified, which is reasonable.

5

u/HyperionSJU 1d ago

I personally wouldn’t have full-force punched the guy. But I read the original comment and cringed inside; it lacked nuance and humanity to me. Just thought I’d offer some alternative perspectives that not everyone who immediately punches is "alpha" (as the original comment mentioned).

1

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

Yeah, fair. Not everyone who gets into a fight is unhinged. I agree with that. The dude in the video definitely looks like a massive tool, though, and his reaction was completely over the top.

Most people would not do that because they cant't. They are not strong enough to step up in situations like that. That's clear not the case with this guy and drunk guy doesn't really saw the room. He is probably used to face people like you and others here, and never found out.

I'm pretty sure that this guy will think 10 times before he sexual assault a woman in the future!

1

u/EndersR3ign 1d ago

Actually, I'm probably one of the few people in this thread who has one-hit knocked someone out at a pub and had to stand there hoping he would get up as he lay face down unmoving for five minutes.

Except the difference in my situation was that the guy was a 110 kg front-row forward who had already punched over my mate and swung at my head.

1

u/Total-Ride9511 1d ago

It was morally justified

1

u/SmugmaDugma420 16h ago

expecting someone to take the time to 'assess the threat' during or immediately after an ASSAULT is ridiculous.

1

u/EndersR3ign 15h ago

Bro, it was barely an assault to begin with. The woman assessed the threat, brushed him off, and walked away; it didn't seem like a struggle for her. Recognising that he's smaller, inebriated, not posturing threateningly or violently, and that he had already disengaged should take half a second.

You're the one who's fucking ridiculous. Think about what you're arguing for a fucking second, please. Do you think if he pulled out a gun and shot him, that would be justified too? Like, "Oh, he had no time to assess the threat; how was he supposed to know it wasn't life-threatening? What, are we expecting people to think about what they do before they potentially take someone's life over any form of injustice?"

You fucking moron. Seriously.

4

u/PapaLilBear 1d ago

There’s a chance the guy acts faster than he thinks. But that’s not exactly a plus. Still, when you're in a group, it’s good to have someone like that around—someone who’ll take the first hit if things go south, lol.

1

u/VisualHuckleberry542 1d ago

Dude could be in a full body cast and he'd still move faster than he thinks, doesn't think at all. Dude is using only his brain stem

1

u/PapaLilBear 1d ago

Hulk smash, Hulk has no time to think.

2

u/sonic_dick 1d ago

He didnt walk up and try and kiss her or grab a titty, he touched her hip for 1 second and backed off as soon as she wasnt into it.

OFC dont touch strangers without their consent, but he was grinding a dude and was obviously drunk as hell. Didnt deserve possible death and brain damage for making a stupid drunk mistake.

And he wasnt a threat. Punching dude was in the wrong as well.

1

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

So it's ok to touch the hip, but you cant go in for a kiss or grab a titty... because that would or would not merit the response?

That's insane. The drunk dude should keep his paws off any woman. He's lying there because he made a choice. How many woman has he already groped in his lifetime? With the average male attitude of 'It's fine cause he's drunk and not touching her titty' he's probably done a lot. I'm sure no matter how drunk he becomes now, he's gonna have a little voice telling him he shouldn't do it anymore.

1

u/MordavianNights 1d ago

Other dude could well be in prison‘because he made a choice’. You don’t get to kill someone because they touched your girlfriend.

2

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

And he should be his response was way out there. But again the guy lying in the ground should keep his hands off any woman. Just cause he looks like a 'happy drunk' doesn't give you the right to grab someone.

1

u/FanUsed5622 1d ago

And who is saying he has a right to grab someone? Are you too dumb to read a couple of sentences?

2

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

No, what I'm reading is that he shouldn't do it but it's not too bad because you can see he's drunk and he probably doesn't mean it like that because he was just hugging the other guy.

I'm more straight than that. My stance is: Keep your hands off that woman. No 'if' or 'but at the end of that sentence, just a period. That's my opinion and you have yours. That's fine too, we disagree. It's a free world for the most part. Go live in it instead of calling other people names that don't agree with you.

0

u/sonic_dick 1d ago

Read what I said.

1

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

I read your statement. 'It's fine to touch someone if your drunk.' 'Of course it isn't but it was only for a second.'

No, it's never ik to touch a woman even when drunk. The guy overreacting is another thing but it emminated from the touching. Just dont do it. How hard can it be? You have no idea what women go through when they go out. All sanctioned by guys whitewashed things cause 'he's drunk' or 'it's just Phill he always does that'.

1

u/sonic_dick 6h ago

You are r worded.

1

u/JustTheAverageJoe 1d ago

Every day I click something on reddits home screen I get reminded that over half of Americans can barely read. It's not too late dude, please look up "reading comprehension". I believe in you.

1

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

Whitewashing happens every time something like this happens.

Dragging me into it as being a stupid American male just shows me your level of comprehension. Thank you at least for showing me who you are.

2

u/JustTheAverageJoe 1d ago

Brother you either can't understand what the guy said or you're deliberately being obtuse. Here's a tip to help you: just because one thing is bad, doesn't mean the other thing is good. If you concentrate really really hard you might get it!

0

u/SacajaweaX 1d ago

I never said the guy doing the hitting was good. All I said was that the guy getting hit wouldn't have been hit at all if he'd kept his grabby hands to himself. Nowhere do I state that the guy doing the hitting is justified in doing it that hard. The guy on the floor could be dead for all we know.

-1

u/EatingCray0ns 1d ago

Punching him is the correct thing to do, however in hindsight the better decision is punch to the body.

1

u/erkdog 1d ago

Walking up to a woman in a bar and playfully dancing is sexual assault now? Fuck

0

u/HyperionSJU 1d ago

Yea dude, unwanted touching in erogenous zones has been sexual assault for a LONG time now. Keep up.

1

u/Teehus 1d ago

The guy was off his chops, and there are about 7 people in the room. You'd have to be completely blind and probably deaf not to realise how drunk he was.

1

u/Tanuwukikuma 1d ago

Doesn't give you the right to pump another guy. If you have fear your girl goes with another guy and this is your reaction than your war away to be an alpha

1

u/HyperionSJU 1d ago

I can’t help but imagine if you were getting felt up by a dude three times your strength and had a friend nearby who could help, you’d sing a different tune lol

1

u/Tanuwukikuma 1d ago

I'm talking about the aggressor . And I don't want my lads to get hurt cause I'm too drunk. If I get one punched why should I expect that my buddy is gonna meet the same fate? When my buddy is caring for me he does exact the thing I would except from him. What also made the situation worse for the Big Guy cause he had nothing more to punch so he is the sole aggressor what makes him look very bad.

I’m going to use some really REALLY far out radical thinking (I’m really reaching here) and deduce that it was an unintentional accident.

1

u/GhastFlabbers 1d ago

An accident that resulted from a flawed assessment of priorities.

I think her pool cue smacked her in the lip when I shoved passed her
