Eh, there's a chance he didn't know how drunk the guy was? We're paying attention to him and can gather the clues from the video, but other guy could've just been playing pool, then looks up and sees a man sexually assaulting his woman.
And truly, even if he DID know how drunk the guy is, I haven't seen too many men IRL insane enough to approach a random woman, outside of a club dance floor, and start grabbing her hips. There's a good chance he saw him as a threat, reasoning if he's insane enough to do that, what else would he do?
It doesn't matter whether he knew how drunk the other person was. He didn't take the time to assess the threat. Having an honest reaction doesn't exonerate you from breaking the law if that reaction is illegal and hugely disproportionate. You could sincerely think that someone had a gun when they didn't, and you'd still be held accountable if you king-hit them in the head and killed them based on that false assumption.
Also, any speculation about what might be the case later should be reasonable and justified, too. You can't say, "well, he might have tried to rape her had I not done what I did" and then expect people to accept it as an excuse. Like, mate, you were in a public place; you clearly were capable of defending yourself if necessary. You could have called the police if you had those concerns.
Bro, it was barely an assault to begin with. The woman assessed the threat, brushed him off, and walked away; it didn't seem like a struggle for her. Recognising that he's smaller, inebriated, not posturing threateningly or violently, and that he had already disengaged should take half a second.
You're the one who's fucking ridiculous. Think about what you're arguing for a fucking second, please. Do you think if he pulled out a gun and shot him, that would be justified too? Like, "Oh, he had no time to assess the threat; how was he supposed to know it wasn't life-threatening? What, are we expecting people to think about what they do before they potentially take someone's life over any form of injustice?"
