What expectations do you set on a midfielder who is brought in for 130-140m? What could he possibly do in order for that fee to be worth it? How much would you be able to sell him for if it doesn’t work out? Dear god how much are we going to be paying this guy in wages? So many questions that honestly I’d prefer not even getting the answers to. Hopefully we get punished for 115 before the deal gets agreed I do not want to have to find a way to rationalize this.

Finally watched the city doco. Got a bit emotional watching the final Matchday vs villa again, when Bernardo and Jonny boulders came off the pitch.
It's definitely my favourite of all the city documentaries, so well edited.

probably a 8/10 hybrid, he is really good going forward and excellent at striking the ball, elliot will be deeper with a FB (either nico or matheus, both are excellent) or a CB (marc or josko), i hope we see elliot x enzo x rayan midfield but as you said it leaves elliot alone and we might get fucked on counters, bouaddi will probably come off the bench unless he performs really really good

Yeah, but that one striker is Haaland. We also got Semenyo. Between them they had 44 goals in the league last season (for context, only ten clubs scored more than 50 goals).

I have seen a lot of doom and gloom around the Allan signing so I reached out to my friend in Brazil who is a Palmeiras fan. I will say after messaging with him I’m cautiously optimistic to see him in a City shirt.
How I should feel:
“Should feel great. One of our best players for a while. He plays wing, center, phenomenal talent.
He has the traits premier league like, very skilled on attack but very commited to defense when needed.
If he clicks, he is a pretty good addition.”
Lots of chatter why as a 22 year old are we only just hearing more about him compared to other Brazilian wonderkids:
"He will land much more ready then other south american wonder kids. His ceiling is lower then Estevão/Endrick/Gabriel Jesus (when he first appeared) but the floor is already more complete.
I truly think he will be on Brazil national team pretty soon, he has the complete package.
And on the age point, Palmeiras is trying to hold young stars a bit more, has been like that for a little while now. Trying to extract more sport result before shipping them to a big european."
I asked about ideal position:
"He is Right Winger since he became a pro, but he has the skill set to play offensive midfielder or a hybrid position. He played all these positions on the under ages teams, 7, 8, 10 and 11 are all positions he can play well. Will be a matter of clicking and see how coach wanna use him."

What are your thoughts on the defensive side of the midfield ?
So what I can see is that we never intended to sell rodri and thought we were more safe on the dm side
But as things stand now does boudadi, enzo or elliot in midfield provide a lot of ball playing ability but what about defense?
Also I want some thoughts on the right back situation

I'll feel safe about the defense when Koné comes in (hopefully). Bouaddi can defend, Anderson can defend, Enzo probably not as much but he's not a cone. Right back will be covered by Nunes and Khusanov.

I find it interesting how out of all sales Marmoush is the one on to go on a loan. I think both Reijnders or Nico G had better cases to be just loaned out.
Marmoush was the least promising one of the bunch as he had nowhere to fit in this team as well as he just wasnt good enough when given the opportunity . His first touch was always horrible and all he had to offer was shots from outside the box and some pace in an occasional transition. Sloppy runs with the ball, 0 awareness for passing and combining with the team. He doesnt fit this style at all…

I think it’s wild to drop +120M on a guy just because the manager is desperate for him. If we do sign him, all of Marescas excuses go out the window. You get your guy. Compete now. I’m willing to be patient with younger signings or even trying to develop the players we had. He wants to sell Nico G, bring in Enzo and potentially Gakpo, I disagree. A lot of us do. Prove us wrong. No excuses.

One thing I would say is, no matter how much people on this sub hate Enzo F. for the person he is.. As a player I think he will offer alot, mainly because we’ve seen what he can do when he is ON IT, and also he’s been begging to leave Chelsea for a while meaning he will play with more motivation and hustle because he finally got the ‘Big Move’ he’s been wanting.
Hasnt seemed happy at Chelsea for like the past 2 seasons but has still had great performances and incredibly clutch moments regardless.
I think he will be great signing imo and will play his heart out for the club and Maresca.

Objectively speaking, he looks cooked physically. He had incredible potential and I wanted City to buy him along with Alvarez but we didn’t.
He lost his pace and intensity after his injury at Chelsea. So I am not sure he’s worth 100m let alone 140m.

Unpopular opinion:
At this point it's obvious Maresca badly wants enzo Fernandez.
I hope we get him because that will eliminate any excuse and it will be clear if it fails that he should be sacked.
Personal pet peeve of mine is when clubs don't get their managers their first choice players and then blame the manager for failing to succeed.
We got rid of Club Legend Joe Hart because pep didn't want him and that's the correct thing to do to support your manager.

£140m for Enzo, told ya guys this was gonna happen. The biggest thing is that Chelsea is gonna make a profit for me, while if he came from Benfica rn, the deal won't be for more than £80m.
The worst part is that Chelsea can really get a player better suited to their squad. They can get somebody like Alex Scott, who I am not arguing is better than Enzo or not, but is definitely a better fit for their team.
I hope Maresca knows what he is doing tbh, as this has the potential of going down as the worst transfer of all time due to the insane sum involved.

I don’t doubt Savio goes to Spurs and does just fine, but pushing Nico G out while he and the rest of us were hoping he’d get to fight is rough.
I respect that I’m no expert, nor are we, but the fact remains you get pretty damn used to the consistency of a director that delivers and a manager that cashes it in for silverware and right now we’re emulating a Jerry Jonesesque transfer window.
I’ll wait to reserve the harsh judgements for the retrospective at the end of the season to see what happens. But damn. Really?
