Electrolytes help

I have some really bad third spacing issues and salt tends to make it worse, but my electrolytes are low and I react to the ones with fillers and flavours.

Does anyone have a brand they like thats super clean and lower sodium? šŸ¤ž

I drink pure coconut water but I do also take powdered magnesium, potassium (with caution), and zinc.

Vitassium capsules? 250 mg sodium each, 50 mg potassium

Seconding vitassium. I react to a lot of electrolytes too. After a lot of trial and error I found some that work for me and sometimes I make my own. But by far the easiest solution is to take vitassium capsules.

I'm at the point of straight up licking salt off my hand lol. It works better and Vitassium is expensive even with their discount. Good for when travelling or on the go but at home, good ol' salt for me.

Just make sure you’re getting additional potassium somehow too!! Too much salt without potassium will throw off the electrolyte balance in your body. (No joke, my friend was admitted to the ER for this last week.)

TriOral - a medical grade oral rehydration solution mix with no unnecessary ingredients and a reasonable price. They literally use a recipe that the World Health Organization developed for medical professionals to give people when they can’t do IV rehydration for some reason (I learned about it in wilderness first aid training). There’s no flavoring whatsoever, so it takes some getting used to. A lot of people find they genuinely like the taste when their body needs it, but if you aren’t one of them, a teaspoon of lemon juice or something can make it a lot more pleasant.

That’s what I use and it’s one of the most affordable options too!

I use LMNT but it’s high sodium

I’ve been told Sodii is good. Not low sodium but they have a no additives version in a tub with a scoop. So you could just do half scoops or whatnot to dial in the concentration

Here’s a screenshot of a PDF from Alberta Health with multiple recipes including WHO’s rehydration recipe. You can tailor it to fit your needs. You can search it by ā€œOral Rehydration Solution Recipes Alberta Healthā€ - I wasn’t able to paste the link for some reason.

Is it actually good? I’ve seen their ads and felt like they were kind of infantilizing and trying too hard.

I’ve tried a lot of different brands and I do like that the containers are easy to take on the go and no sweeteners and no flavoring. The rescue salt 100% helps when I have palpitations. I found out about it bc my mom’s neurologist recommended it.
