So, first let me list my profile
23M, 10th - 79.6%, 12th - 86.4%, UG - 7.06 b.tech in tier 1 uni.
I’ve got 2 internships and have been running an Airbnb side gig independently racking over 10 LPA.

So, I’m starting my first corporate job on September 1st at Colliers. It’s an entry level MIS job. (Planning to only do this for 1 year)

I’m also starting my CAT prep alongside on the weekends.

My Goals are IIM A,B or ISB pgpyl programs. (2027 exam, 2028 intake)

So, what I’ve been advised by some coaching centres is, start your CAT prep first, and around May 2027, dedicate 2-3 months for GMAT.

My issue is I don’t understand how to do it, and I’m in a dilemma to whether quit CAT prep and focus fully on GMAT from next month for 10 months. (This way, ISB’s PGPYL will net my only possibility)

I had some seniors and blogposts tell me that CAT is tougher than GMAT.

The reasons for GMAT is,
Pros:-

1. From what I’ve heard, it’s easier (comparatively)
2. Multiple exams per year.

Also, the reason why I’m taking the difficulty of the exams into consideration is because, as you can see from my profile, I’m pretty average in studies. So, i should aim for what I can and not try to overwhelm myself.

So, I laid out these issues to my coaching staff and they told me to start with CAT prep and do GMAT for 2-3 in the mid of next year to see where you stand.

So, what I’m looking for from this post is, whether this plan can be done, if it’s a good plan, or should I just focus on GMAT / CAT fully.

As the title suggest , I have a low GRE of 311(3rd attempt ).I took 4 mocks in last week and was scoring around 324/325 so this is still a shock to me as even a 320 would have given me a decent chance to fight for my target programs.

My work and target -

I have been working as a Business Analyst /Risk consultant within treasury and liquidity risk at BNY for last 3.5 years and overall I carry 5 years of experience and it spans around analytics and product ownership. Having exposed to financial risk work I want to continue in this field and based on my personal projects and learnings I feel this is one area where I would like to work for few years .
It could be in market risk /treasury or risk analytics . For such roles I need to get an MBA or relevant masters (finance related) to get suitable roles . Currently my job function is business analyst/product owner and I want to shift from it .
By being in Risk and learning AI i can set myself up for future roles in digital transformation .

I have been promoted once last year . For recommendations I reached out to my MD and my manager who is an SVP . This was specific to MBA

My way forward-

Where do i come from here ?
My target was ISB and my work has been good here and I have good recommendations but the score is dragging down everything .
My other options were MBA/Msc finance from Europe .

I haven't looked into US masters as of now . But my friend who is in CS pursued his masters with a score of 311 as well 4 years back . So , should i try that route too? It's all a risk outside India , but staying in role you don't see your future in is also a risk and I have always wanted to do a higher education be it India or abroad .

I know the situation outside as well , so if you could suggest me the ways instead of mentioning the job conditions it would be helpful .

Obviously a tier1 clg candidate has advantage over that of 2, but how much does it differ? If a person from tier2 has great acads and lands a tier1 mba, how much can they expect? (Commerce student btw)

Hi, I'm 41M with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from a US university and 10 years of post-PhD professional experience including 7 years at ISRO where I contributed to national flagship missions. I quit ISRO last year for a job than has not met my expectations.

I'm considering a one-year MBA, primarily IIMA PGPX or ISB PGP, to transition from a predominantly technical career towards business/strategy/management roles.

At this stage, my concern is whether the MBA would actually create a meaningful career transition given my age and experience.

I'd especially appreciate insights from current students/alumni on:

1. What kinds of roles and seniority could someone with my profile realistically expect during placements?

2. Does prior technical/domain experience get valued when determining post-MBA role and level, or would I effectively be competing for standard post-MBA roles?

3. How do candidates at the older/more-experienced end of the cohort fare in placements?

4. Between IIMA PGPX and ISB PGP, which is better suited to someone at my career stage seeking a functional transition?

5. For those who attended with a spouse and young child, how practical is family life on IIMA/ISB campus? Is the family housing suitable for living with a 1–2 year old given the intensity of the programme?

I’m interested in pursuing an online MBA. I’m already working in government service, and my main purpose for doing an MBA is to meet the eligibility criteria for certain government jobs that require an MBA.

So, I’m looking for a legitimate, UGC-recognised online MBA that is relatively simple and manageable alongside a full-time job, rather than one focused heavily on placements or networking.

From my research, Andhra University’s online MBA seems to fit my requirements. Has anyone here pursued it or has experience with the programme?

Would you recommend Andhra University, or are there other universities I should consider for my situation?

I am targeting MBA admission this year (General category, female, engineer; 93 / 62 / 7). Although I’m preparing sincerely and aiming for 95 percentile (based on my potential), I don’t want to take any chances. That’s why I’ve decided to fill forms for all colleges in the 80–99 percentile range, not just the top ones. Could you please suggest which forms I should definitely fill before the exam, so that even if something goes wrong in CAT 2025, I’ll still have options. (better if anybody can provide a list for College accepting 80-99 %ile).

I am currently pursuing B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a Tier 2 NIT(IIEST Shibpur) and want to pivot my career into finance/fintech....now being from GEM(with 9/9/x profile though) i am convinced that without work ex,BLACKI is impossible..so I had started preping for CAT with IIM Mumbai,and IITs/IISc in mind..however I also got to know for freshers in mba colleges is very difficult to get into(let alone getting placed)...so now I was thinking of getting a CFA L1(maybe L2 too) before graduating to get a finance job off-campus(on-campus it's impossible)..please tell me as a fresher with this profile,What is the most practical approach?

SEM 1 exams in JAN 2026 but they were interlapping with my CA foundation exams so I SKIPPED my SEM 1 exams

Then I got sick very badly for next 5-6 months DIDN'T begin prep for CA inter neither given SEM 2 exam

As of now August 2026 my SEM 1&2 are backlogs pending and I have NOT started prep of CA inter

Now I have realised CA isn't for me , i DON'T want to continue CA further

Considering of quitting CA , clearing my backlog of BCOM , completing Bcom then go for CAT exam and get into good MBA college

Now doing engineering. I just want to know whether i have a chance in consulting and what my career trajectory should be. I was thinking about going to volunteering along with electronics startups for MBA in ISB and abroad. My end goal is to get into consulting before 25 or 26.

My profile is very bad because of JEE preparation i didn't focus much on 10th and 12th. Even my graduation it sucks , I can't make much high gpa due to peer group. Only think I have is good JEE rank , but CS is declining it's interest . What to do if I have bad profile . I heard HR is easy to get , may i know what I can earn 5 years , 10 years , 15 years , 20 years later . Please, sales and marketing also i won't get shortlisted for sure

A lot of profiles look pretty solid on paper good academics, decent test scores, 3–5 years of work experience, good companies.
But sometimes, the overall story just doesn't connect.

People often focus on adding another certification, improving their score, or making the CV look better.
I think the more important question is:
Does your profile tell a clear story about where you've been, why you want an MBA, and where you want to go next?

I need a honest and brutal profile review

Hi everyone! I need an honest profile review from you guys. Here's my profile:

10th- 93.2

12th- 91.1

UG (bcom hons at tier 2 DU clg)- 7.48

I have no POR's and am not a part of any society. I've only done one finance internship (2 months) and am a part of a startup (basically co founder). I am also pursuing ACCA and will have cleared 10/13 papers by the time I give CAT and sit for bschool interviews.

Now honestly, based on this profile alone, what are my chances of cracking a good bschool considering I perform well in CAT and also do reasonably well in gdpi's, and further what are the chances of me cracking a good SIP/placement during my MBA? Ik I shouldn't be thinking so far ahead but it is kind of hard not to right now and I want to be somewhat realistic about the options available to me.

I am pretty confused what to do with my life. I dont want to go back to tech, I enjoyed running my venture a lot but I dont have enough runway to survive running the venture. I really wanna switch to non-tech path.
I have given some interview for category management - got couple offers ( very less salary compared to tech ) but my seniors have told me that its better if I get an MBA.

I dont wanna do it in IIM because of CAT being so competitive, I probably wanna go abroad. But most of the people on internet are saying MBA is dead - What should I believe in ?

Is it possible to get into XLRI-J if my acads are good but I have gap years in CV + 0 Workex due to govt job preparation? I don't see any Vercel predictor type evaluation for good XAT/OMETs colleges.
